Biomedical Engineering Career Paper

Surgeons treat any injuries, diseases and deformities through operations. A large number of surgeons usually choose to perform general surgery, a lot of surgeons choose to specialize in a specific area. Surgeons examine patients, perform and interpret diagnostic tests and counsel patients on preventative healthcare. Some examples of the specialties that surgeons do are orthopedic surgery which is the treatment of the musculoskeletal system. Neurological surgery which is the treatment of the brain and nervous system. Reconstructive surgery which is to perform or treat structures of the body affected by defects, abnormalities, trauma, infection, tumors or disease. The last one I’m going to name is cardiovascular surgery which is the treatment of the heart and the profession I want to pursue.

Physicians and Surgeons go to work trying to care for people every day. Physicians and surgeons is just one name, but falls under a big category of jobs. Anesthesiologists, a family and general physician, general internist, a pediatric, gynecologist, psychiatrist, and a surgeon are the jobs that fall under the category. Personally a general internist interests me the most. Throughout the day they work with adults coming up with treatments for the internal organ system such as your basic organs, your kidneys, stomach, liver, and digestive system. At the moment I am only interested in one major and that major is biology. I absolutely love science, but more than that I love the medical field, this is why I chose this major because once I graduate I will further pursue my career in the medical field as a licensed obstetrician. In biology there are many skills that you must have, here are is a list of some of the skills needed and they are as follow; adequate knowledge in science and math, the ability to learn and pick up on new things fairly quickly, being able to understand what you are taught/told and then be able to rephrase it in your own words. My loving mother always told me that true strength comes from living your life for something bigger than yourself. Making valiant contributions to our society and supporting the people I love is so important to me, and becoming successful is the only way I’ll be able to do any of that. I have my heart set on studying biomedical engineering, a career field that will enable me to create and develop solutions that will improve the lives of all people, but especially those with disabilities.

Curiosity is a key aspect of engineers because they work on a variety of projects that requiring knowledge in a multitude of different disciplines. While I do not yet have a substantial understanding of biomedical engineering, the inquisitiveness required to excel in this field is shown in everything I do.

The typical job duties for biomedical engineers are to design products, such as artificial limbs for people who need them, artificial internal organs, and machines for diagnosing medical problems. There is also research that has to be done, and that is where biomedical engineers work with different scientist, and chemists to research and understand the engineering details of the biological systems of the human body. A biomedical engineers job may also be spread between many professional fields.

Some things that I know about the medical field are that there are many career paths that I can choose that involve medicine or diseases and even surgeries and injuries. The medical career field that I know the most about and have experienced the most of is physical therapy. Physical therapist help people with their injuries and provide exercises for people to help them heal faster and heal correctly, basically there job is to help patients take care of a torn muscle or any other kind of injury.

Engineering is a wildly divest carrer from creating applicances to medical equitment. iTs a career that is always changing . Instead, I would just let it sit in the back of my mind. “What are my goals?”, I would think to myself. Then one day at the end of sophomore year, on the edge-of-the-edge of leaving high school, I realized the time is now. It’s time to start planning.

I shall attend college and achieve higher education to pursue my career goal and to help the poor. The education in the United States, unlike that of other nations, is “a key of success” for everyone regardless of age, which exhorts low-income students like me to pursue higher education.
