One invaluable experience that I’ve gained over the years was my participation in the Engineering Scholars Program at Florida Atlantic University (FAU). This program allowed high school students, like myself, to take one engineering-related college course over the summer during an accelerated three-week time frame. It’s all so far off.” Then they get into high school and the pressure is heightened. As a freshman, people are telling us, “Start planning now!” I remember hearing it from all of my teachers, but I never quite started doing so. Instead, I would just let it sit in the back of my mind. “What are my goals?”, I would think to myself. Then one day at the end of sophomore year, on the edge-of-the-edge of leaving high school, I realized the time is now. It’s time to start planning.
The biomedical equipment technician (BMET) is one who conducts maintenance and repairs hospital machines and equipment. This is a quality assurance job that has a lot safety issues to consider. The technicians should be trained to a superior standard so that the life threatening mistakes that could possibly be made are kept to zero percent.
