The Black Death, a horrible pandemic plague that spread through all of Europe, taking 25,000,000 people along with it. The Black Death was devastating and was one of the most significant events in Medieval Britain. The Black Death was also known the plague and bubonic plague it describes the spread of disease that caused mass deaths throughout Britain. The disease itself was carried by fleas and spread across Europe between 1346-1353 leaving towns and city such as Siena Italy with 85% of the population wiped out. This was seen all over Europe including Britain and it can be argued economic factors was the most significant consequences of the Black Death. However there are many factors such as political, social factors and Mortality rates that were also results of the Black Death and perhaps social factors may be more significant.

The Black Plague (also known as the Black Death or Bubonic Plague) of the 1300s is considered by many historians to be one of the most influential events in the history of Europe. Originating in Asia, the Black Plague has three forms; Bubonic which affects the lymph nodes, pneumonic which affects the lungs, and septicemia which affects the blood. Through examining the effects of the Plague on Europe and its people, it is clear that politics, social life, and economics were all irreparably thrown off balance. Perhaps the part of Europe disturbed most by the Black Death was politics.

In this essay, we will read of two scholars who dispute the official narrative of the Bubonic plague; one scholar will apply this revisionism solely to England, whereas the other will look at Europe as a whole. Moreover, death toll estimates will be scrutinized too. In addition, we will read of a third scholar who offers insight into the aftermath of the Black Death in England in terms of its social and economic development. Clearly, something devastating struck Europe in the 14th century. Whatever it was might not ever be exactly known. Not only did the Black Death take a devastating toll on human life, but it also played a major role in shaping European life in the years following.

Sickness times a thousand equals the Black Death. In our world, many disasters have occurred, causing terrible damage emotionally, physically, and mentally. However, I believe that the Black Death is the worst disaster to have occurred throughout our world’s history. It all started in 1348, when trading ships from different countries around Europe settled at the port of Messina, Sicily. Once the ship dropped their anchor many of their sailors were found dead, and the few surviving carried with them the deadly disease so dangerous that it would quickly lead to death. Scientists researched and concluded that the disease started from Central Asia (Mongolia), when fleas on rats boarded the many ships from Europe. The fleas got on the sailors’ skin and started killing them instantly. However, many thought that the disease had originated from the Far East and was spread along many major trade routes. When the people of Sicily finally started finding out what was causing the death, they closed their port and trading system with other countries. (Wikipedia) The ships were forced to anchor somewhere else in other countries, which allowed the disease to spread even more quickly. I believe that the Black Plague was a disastrous event that affected all aspects and the future of European and Central Asian society, their political and economic environment, and their future advancement to medicine.

The Black Death, also known as the Bubonic plague, was a serious pandemic that killed more than one-third of Europe’s population. Between 1347-1352, the Black Death had “reportedly killed more than 20 million people.” The plague originated from Asia before traveling throughout Europe and the Mediterranean by fleas infested rats transported through ships. The infested ships had then landed in European ports such as the following: “Genoa, Venice, Messina, and other more.” Thus, the starting the pandemic by the spreading of the highly contagious bacterial infection disease around Europe along with their imports and exports.

By 1352 it had really loosened its hold Europe’s population had been a massive hit, which had a financial impact. The work had been damaged especially for farms. The Black Death also was one of the worst pandemics in human history. Around about in the 14th century, about 75 million people on 3 countries rotten due to the painful pains, high contagious illness. Also in Europe hundreds died daily and their bodies was usually thrown into mass graves.

The purpose of this investigation is to evaluate how the Black Death impacted Western Europe during the fourteenth century. How did the Black Death Impact Western Europe? To answer this question, I will look at many sources such as historical texts, biographies, and academic journals. All of the sources were found through databases that were provided online. I will be evaluating two of the sources in more depth and detail.

First the Black Death also known as plague was an extremely contagious and deadly disease that virtually wiped out the entire nation of Europe. The Black Death originated in China and quickly spread to Europe. Due to traders and travelers this disease easily spread on. The people with the disease would give it to whoever was with them no matter who they are. The Black Death symptoms were very obvious. It started with a lump called a tumor under the armpit, but as time moved on so did the tumors. The tumors came all over your body in black and purple lumps and in about three days you would be dead.There was no medicine that could help you with this disease.

This investigation will examine the short term impact the Black Death had on the European society. The plague spread through Europe in only 4 years from 1347 to 1351 but it did hit Europe again a number of times till 1370. Therefore to properly examine the short term impact of the Black Death, the years 1347 to 1370 will be the focus of this investigation.

The Black Death, according to Joseph P Byrne, was “a deadly epidemic that spread across Asia and Europe beginning in mid 1300’s.” It did not take long for the plague to make a big impact on the world. “By the spring of 1348, the Black Death, also known as Black Plague, spread to france, The Alberium Peninsula, and England, following trade routes and hitting big cities first before spreading to the countryside,” states Gail Cengage. In the 19th century, Europe was devastatingly hit with this epidemic that affected them greatly then and now. The Black Death in Europe affected 19th centuries economics, population, and literature.
