It’s late late evening, as I weave through the crowd of people gathered in Central square, eager to enjoy something after such a long day working in the factories and mines. I push my way through the crowd, finding the open spaces between people and pushing my way through if there are none. Behind me Alec and Adam walk at my heels, their heavy breaths, mixing with the sound of State propaganda blaring from loudspeakers that line the roofs of the buildings. I walk a few more step, than glance over my shoulder at them. Alec’s face is slick with sweat, as Adam leans heavily against him. I sigh. Despite the healing effect of the antibiotics, it had became apparent when we started out this morning, that Adam had yet to recover his strength. …show more content…
Memories of his hand pressed against my cheek last night, move through my mind, making my cheeks warm. I’m about to look away, but his eyes catch mine and it’s too late. I clear my throat. “We should stop somewhere for the night.” I say. He nods. I look around the square, searching for a good place to stop, when I spot the opening of a nearby alley. I shoot a glance back over my shoulder, and nod my head in the alley’s direction. Alec gives a curt nod and follows. When we’ve made it a little ways into the alley, I lean against the wall. “This looks like a decent place.” Alec shrugs, as he deposits Adam against the opposite wall. “Why don’t you two get some rest?” He says, “I’ll keep watch for a while.” “Why?” Adam asks. “Because, there still might be soldiers out looking for use after Avery and I broke into the hospital. Something we did to save you.” He snaps. “Now, if you’ll excuse me.” Alec walks back to the alley’s entrance without a look back. I frown at his back as he walks away, surprised by his hostility. He’s right of course, soldiers are still probably looking for the both of us, but he didn’t have to treat Adam like that, he’s never acted that way before. Could there be something? Maybe he resents that he had to carry Adam around most of the
Dan wondered why his mother didn’t shrink down and perch on his shoulder already, like the annoying bird she was. She chirped his name, then followed with three sharp pecks against the door. Dan ignored her and took the last sip of his coffee. Beads of sweat rested on his forehead, and he pulled on the chain to lower the brightness of his desk lamp. His eyes had become red, and the dark circles and designer bags under his brown eyes were ever present. Simply put, on any given day, Daniel Malik was a zombie.
Josh Taggart walked into the office as if it belonged to him, his entire demeanor cold and detached, taking in everything with the swift efficiency of a machine. He did not come from money. His suit was off the rack. Whereas Miria was pale, he was dark, with black hair and blacker eyes that seemed to swallow all the light around them as they took in his surroundings. Surroundings that had been handed to this woman on a silver platter with gold inlay. And he was expected to learn from her?
As I finally reached Main Square I was already out of breath, but what breath remained was snatched from my lungs by the scene that unfolded before me. A heaving mass of bodies amassed in the square. Deafening chants permeated the air mixing with the acrid scent of flares that some of the young crowd were lighting. One young man stood upon a makeshift stage with a megaphone blaring to the audience -
“Probably because when we escaped this place you helped me blow up the training facility?”
There was a breeze in the air, as they all ran. The wind was harsh on their faces when they thought they were far enough away from the terrifying howl that they heard. One by one they stopped and found out they were separated and started yelling out each other's names. They called, "KATHY, JONATHAN, MAY, ADAM'' and there was no response. They started walking trying to find each other but ended up getting farther away from one another. Kathy wondered how her friends were handling the situation, like if one of them had made their way out. Jonathan wondered if anybody found the creature and about how he should have stayed home. Kathy and Adam found each other back at the house, while Jonathan was still in the woods.
And what’s that supposed to mean? Thin lips purse and Han’s heart has yet to steady, probably can’t since it’s so hot and humid and unimaginably hard to breathe. The humidity weighing down on his lungs drains the energy out of his body, so he slides down to sit, wiping off the sweat gathered on his forehead and blinking away the stinging blur when perspiration repeatedly rolls down his forehead and straight into his frinkin' eyes. This place is hell. It’s gotta be. However, the transient notion of standing as high up as Teshin, where the breeze must blow cool, appeals to him. Thus, began Han’s climb up.
Samuel had only just gotten inside when lightning flashed, thunder sounded, and the rain began to fall.
“Beat it,” I said. I reached up and shoved him off of my chest while Mina sat in the corner, nibbling on dried meat and laughing, almost choking while she did so. “Enjoying the show?” I asked, grabbing a small hunk of meat from the bag and chewed it in silence.
“No, Jimmy, I don’t think I’m above everyone else,” I told him, but I thought I just think I’m above you, you bastard.
“This is Aledo City. It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” Aria utters. She hasn’t dropped her smile since she found me.
“Why do I have to keep getting groceries for you?” Casper growled angrily on the phone as he trekked down the pavement with bags full of produce. He looked both ways before crossing the street. “It’s ridiculous, can’t you do your own chores?”
Jessime’s proud smirk quickly diminished into a frown as his master lectured him on the significance of time and their current situation. The elf boy signed disappointed that Bráshk didn’t respond the way he thought he would. The young elf was famished, and with the advantage of his master possibly being pleased with him, it was an added bonus for him when he sought after the boar.
But there the only thing left to my name." Said a man. "I dont care how much they mean to you john we need the money!" Yelled his mother. "But..." " but what john! What do you want more a house and food or your dumb trophies?" John sighed knowing what must be done. "Ill go tomorrow and sell them. Ok?" " no your gonna get of your laze butt and go today! And while your at it go find a job as well. We won't have the money forever!" John walked slowly over to his trophy shelf. He stood thinking about the good old days. Next to each mount a small picture of his accomplishment. At least those can stay. He grabs a bag and slowly places each one in the bag remembering the great times he had. As he puts the last one, a golden belt, he gives one last sigh before taking his leave.
Thank you for providing me with a very interesting and amusing experience over the last few days. I have really enjoyed our time together, particularly the end of the night.
I walk into the secret annex and all I hear is Mrs.Vaan Daan screaming bloody murder, and into where i hear the shrieks of pure terror and agony. I wounder what is going on? It was so loud i almost forgot that they were trying to hide. I heard the wails of
