I was amazed by the movie-not only because it revealed the complicated inner conflict of Ben Campbell, but also because the exciting counting cards method presented throughout the scenes. The movie describes a boy, Ben Campbell, who is hard-working and outstanding in his class. However, Campbell needed money to apply for Harvard University Medical school. In the movie, Campbell complained to his friends that he couldn’t dazzle the admission officer because he’s done nothing. Ben was a student who crushed exams and showed up early day by day. He gave up his personal time for fun, which caused his lack of life experience. Though I think life experience doesn’t have to be as crazy as counting card at Vegas, a person at least needs to feel passion in his life. In the end, Ben dazzled the admission officer and won scholarship for Med-school. His achievement was a result of the lesson he learned from his experience. Ben learned to value his friendship and family more than money. He was no longer blinded by the wealth and excitement in the casino. Above all the precious life lessons the movie teaches its audiences about, I’m most attracted to the counting cards method. Therefore, I studied about the method and its disadvantages.
