The first place I volunteered at was Feed My Starving Children. Feed My Starving Children is an organization that makes nutritional meals for malnourished children. The meals are called MannaPacks and they are packed with rice, soy, dried vegetables, and flavoring. Each station has to measure the ingredients into the bags, weight the bag, then seal the bag. My role was sealing the bags and putting them in a box; and I did that for two hours. My volunteering and the volunteering of others really helped out because 27,000 meals were packed in our shift, which feeds 74 kids for a year. The other two hours that I did, I helped the staff clean up and take everything down. I benefited from this experience because I actually felt like I somewhat
I have many experiences with community service since I am very passionate about helping people and the less unfortunate. I have volunteered in many activities to help my community, for example, Eagle Scream Fest, Dia del Nino, Closet to Closet, Multicultural night and the best one Food for Families. Food for Families is a non-profit organization that distributes free food twice a month. I have been involved with this organization since the beginning which has been two years. I love volunteering with the organization because I am able to see the difference that is making to
Helping these people fit in to are local community it enhances my life by working side by side with new people and gives a better understand of the world we now live in
Volunteering and participating in service projects are two of the most rewarding activities in my opinion. Some people may find it was a hassle or only do it because they have to meet the minimum requirement for school or work. Helping others, for me, has always been somewhat second nature to me. Over many years of volunteering I believe I have developed qualities that will stick with me for life and benefit me in my career. As early as freshman year, in high school, I found myself looking for ways to give back. I started by looking for opportunities within school, where I came across the A+ tutoring program, and so my journey of giving back began. While tutoring, my patience for others really evolved, partly by choice and partly because
I enjoy helping people who need a helping hand and is the reason why I volunteer in the nursing home facility, where I help the elderly who struggle with daily tasks like: walking and
Growing up I worked at Les Schwab Tire Center since I was 16 years old. I loved working on cars and learning how to be self sufficient if something of my own ever broke. I knew after a few months
I have helped out at the Science Works Night at Oak Ridge Elementary. I have helped at Sartell’s spring Funfest. I have done roadside clean up along River road. The road side clean up was a nice experience to be able to be to help clean up our community and help the environment.
In addition, I have volunteered at my youth group at Christus Church. I have spent roughly 15 hours involving myself in service projects that help our community. Finally, I have helped with the trail development at Nordic Mountain. I have chipped in 30 hours towards creating trails, raking pine needles, digging up dirt, removing debris, and weed whacking the trails. I not only occupy the willingness to help out the community, but I also possess strong feelings towards a vigorous
During my childhood, I would always want to help out with moving materials and fixing them. These brought me to volunteer at some bigger activities that require to sell and give to individuals. At my school’s concession stores, I sold products for a basketball game. While doing these
I am very involved in volunteer work because working to make a better world is very dear to my heart. I was the Senior Class Representative of my high school service club and my job was to organize a lot of events. I was heavily involved in the committee for our Mini Dance Blue Marathon, and loved dancing the night away for the kids. I loved working with kids and helping to shape them so I have volunteered at day camps such as Winshape Camp Foundation and Camp Can-I-Go for a few years.
On top of being hardworking in school, I am also hardworking outside of school. I’m not old enough to get a job working at an actual business, but, I still do work. I help my mom and dad when they have a job with Homestead Properties Restoration. We clean up foreclosed houses so that they can
In addition to working full time and attending school as a full time student, I shadowed a Dosimetrist and a Radiation Therapist at Gamma West Cancer Services for approximately 30 hours over a one month period. This job shadow included participation in the care of cancer patients and use of computed tomography. I have had multiple opportunities to serve the people in my community and in other communities near me. I have had the privilege to volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America for two years. This has allowed me to mentor and aid young men in learning life skills, service, leadership, overcoming obstacles, and the power of hard work. I have been able to participate in multiple Eagle Scout projects including helping collect and package
I have held a job since I was fourteen. I feel that it is highly important to work for what you want, and not rely on other people for what you want. I currently work five days a week before school, at Kings School Kids Daycare as a Childcare Provider. Every day after work and school I have lacrosse practice or a game. After lacrosse practice, I voluntarily coach the middle school and elementary lacrosse teams in Bethel Park. Coaching these young kids is such a wonderful experience, I am able to teach the girls about skills on and off the fields. The girls do not realize this, but they have taught me how to become a leader in this community. During my senior year, I have had to miss more school than I ever have due to medical issues, which made me work harder than I ever have. This past grading period, I got a record high GPA for myself, which was a 4.2! Winning the George Meyer Scholarship would help me tremendously in the next chapter in my
I’ve never had a job-but I work hard everyday and always put one thousand percent into everything that I do. At the age of 16 I have overcome many obstacles that even some adults would have a hard time
The day I went in for volunteering, I was positioned as a phone attendant answering phone calls to anyone who had questions about YMCA, I was given a packet of information to be able to answer those questions. I answered my first call and was able to successfully help the person with their question but I did not enjoy this position as much because it felt more like work than volunteering. After
