Bo Jackson I. Introduction a. No matter what people say, multitasking is one of the hardest things to do. Whether it’s play two sports in high school or work two jobs, it’s tough to handle all that responsibility. I myself played two sports in high school and trying to balance that out with school was a tough enough task in itself. Now imagine having to manage two professional jobs at the same time, well that’s the life Bo Jackson lived, my favorite professional athlete and arguably the best athlete of all time. Vincent ‘Bo’ Jackson was born on November 30, 1962 in Bessemer, Alabama. He earned the nickname “Bo” early as a child because he was a very rough and competitive kid and his brother shortened the word “boar” into …show more content…
Turned out, it was rather illegal, and he became suspended for the remainder of his senior baseball season. Bo was extremely furious about that, and it even drove him to choose going to the MLB out of college over the NFL Draft where he was the clear number one pick. Bo decided to sign with the Kansas City Royals out of Auburn, where he batted .401 with 17 home runs and 43 RBI’s as a senior. And as if baseball and football wasn’t enough sports at a big time university, Bo also ran track and field his freshman and sophomore years and even considered joining the USA Olympic team, but opted not to because he wouldn’t get any financial security of the MLB or NFL, nor have the time to train for the Olympics. c. Professional Career ii. Even though Jackson told the Buccaneers he wouldn’t go to the NFL, they still drafted him first overall in the 1985 NFL Draft. He spent the 1986-87 playing for the Kansas City Royals, but he spent most of those years working his way up the minor leagues. Following the 1987 season, Jackson decided to pick up football again as a “hobby” he described it, and signed with the Los Angeles Raiders. In the 1989 baseball season, he was selected to the All-Star game and a lot of people were skeptical to whether he deserved to be there or not. So Bo did what only Bo
Bo Jackson is known for his ability to be successful in both football and baseball, a feat no other professional athlete was able to attempt. As a young adult, Bo Jackson thrived at whatever he did; from baseball to football to track, and he was able to give it his best effort and naturally excel at these sports. As a college athlete, Bo Jackson retained his ability to achieve greatness in both football and baseball, a feat that would set the precedent for his adult life and careers. As an adult, Bo Jackson became famous for his ability to alternate between football and baseball at the same time, and excel at both sports, without any time to rest. Bo’s ability to jump from one sport to the next was seen as an impressive show of his skill and natural talent for the sports. Though Bo Jackson’s life is a real-life story, many see him as an epic hero like Odysseus or Hercules. According to the Characteristics of Epic Heroes, Bo Jackson displayed great strength and courage through performance of incredible deeds, accepted his capabilities with great humility, and was seen as a national hero.
Seven years ago, a hero that goes by the name Michael Jackson was lost. Contributions to music and dance, along with his publicized personal life, made him a global figure in popular culture for over four decades. Michael Jackson’s humanitarian work recognized on May 14, 1984 brought him to the White House to receive an award from President Ronald Reagan for his support of charities that helped people overcome alcohol and drug abuse. Michael Jackson led me to inspire others and volunteer my time to help the world as he did with his music and charity organizations. I cannot compare myself to Michael Jackson but I would be privileged to share what I have been able to accomplish through his inspiration. I inspired students through my actions and made an impact on my school.

For anyone who knows anything about baseball, the 1919 World Series brings to mind many things. "The Black Sox Scandal of 1919 started out as a few gamblers trying to get rich, and turned into one of the biggest, and easily the darkest, event in baseball history" (Everstine 4). This great sports scandal involved many, but the most memorable and most known for it was Joe Jackson. The aftermath of the great World Series Scandal left many people questioning the character of Joe Jackson and whether or not he should have relations thereafter with baseball. There is still question today whether or not to let Joe into the Hall of Fame.

Every kid dreams of playing a professional sport, but Bo Jackson played two. Drafted 4th round in 1986, Jackson joined the returning world series champions the Kansas City Royals. The notoriety Bo gained by playing for teams in four different states helped him gain national attention at a much faster rate than if he only played in one state. He grew up in Alabama and played for Auburn, which is also located in Alabama. Then, he went on to play for the L.A. Raiders, Kansas City Royals, and Chicago White Sox. At the time, there was a lot of media outlets that were just getting started, but not at the numbers that we have them today. By traveling to many different states through playing with three different teams, Bo let everyone know who he was, putting on a show for thousands night-in and night-out. Bo showed characteristics of an epic hero through traveling over a vast setting to gain national attention, eventually leading to
We are gathered here today to remember Andrew Jackson. President Jackson was among one of the best presidents we have ever seen. President Jackson was the first president to be relatable to the average person. As President Jackson once said, “The planter, the farmer, the mechanic, and the laborer… form the great body of the people of the United States, the bone and sinew of the country men who love liberty and desire nothing but equal rights and equal laws.” This showed how much he supported in the common people who are truly the backbone of our country. Andrew Jackson was the first president elected by normal people, not just wealthy landowning men and through him we showed what kind of president the people of this country want, a mans
Throughout the documentary Bo Jackson proves his strength and courage. He was naturally gifted with strength and accuracy. It is as if Bo knew precisely hard to throw stones at pigs so that they can die. During his baseball season, Bo swung at the ball and hit it on the scoreboard which had not been done in several years.
Andrew Jackson wasn’t just a president, he could be seen as a tyrant and a democratic supporter of the people. A lot of people voted for jackson to be the president of the united states, even the whole electoral college. But the reason he got voted on by some many people was because they all had different views of Jackson, but mainly I think he was a tyrant. Is Andrew Jackson a democratic supporter of the people or a tyrant? Andrew Jackson is a tyrant because he wasn't respectful to people, forced indians out, and vetoed laws for his own good.
It is clear from the the documents that Andrew Jackson acted like a king in his presidency. One reason that Andrew Jackson acted like a king was because he owned a lot of slaves. Document 7 stated that in Andrew Jackson's presidency, from 1829 to the mid 1830s, his slave holdings went up a lot from 1794 to the mid 1830s. This proves that he acted like a king because normally, kings have a lot of slaves. Mr.Moore taught us that he owned over 300 slaves. This proves he acted like a king because none of the other presidents had over 300 slaves. Jackson was the only president of his time that had a lot of slaves.
Stokely Carmichael gave his most famous speech on the campus of the University of California at Berkeley in 1966. His speech, “Black Power,” addresses the issue of black racism in America and gives strategies for advancing black civil rights. His use of ethos, logos, and pathos is successful in getting the audience to engage and connect with his speech.
After reading and analyzing Dr.Kings “Remaining Awake during a Revolution” commencement speech that he presented at Oberlin College during his graduation ceremony; he wanted the people to have a good visual on what he was explaining and talking about. King wanted to inform the people about what was going; so he used allusions, statics, and logos.
