The third wave of Vietnamese immigration was not considered Boat People. Rather, in 1979, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees negotiated the Orderly Departure Program (ODP), which sought to stop uncontrolled migration. As the camps were overcrowded, the ODP sent many back to their country of origin. Qualified individuals and people with family abroad were screened and resettled to third countries. Former political prisoners were not allowed to migrate through the ODP. However, they were able to move through the Humanitarian Operation Program. The prisoners must prove they were negatively affected by the communist regime in order to emigrate (DeMichele, 2012). Every Boat People’s story is unique. My mother had given me some candies to take along. At two in the morning, my mother walked me to the bus stop. I did not know what was going to happen. I was unsure of how to feel. I had never left home by myself, but here I am, embarking on an unknown journey. I got onto the bus with my neighbor and traveled eight hours to the southern tip of Vietnam, to a town called Ca Mau. When I got off the bus, my neighbor and I were escorted by organizers to different houses to hide. Unfortunately, we were arrested by police. As a man, my neighbor was caught, jailed, and sent back to Saigon. Eventually, the police released the women and children. As I was waiting at the bus stop to be sent back to Saigon, another group leader caught up and secretly led me and a few others away to the other side of town. From there, we took a small taxi bus into the jungle. We had to find our way to the boat by traveling to the other side of the jungle. I remember staying in there for a day and a night. To avoid getting caught, our group could only move quietly in the dark. I also have to mention that the mosquitoes in that area are considered to be the worst in the world. Our entire group got bitten a lot. In addition to moving quietly, there were times we had to wade through mud as deep as our waist and other times we were able to hop on the roots. Finally, in the early hours of the morning we made it to the beach where a boat was waiting to pick us
In the science article, “Beef and Climate Change Collide”, Los Angeles Times argues that beef is unhealthy for planet Earth due to the released gases that contribute to climate change. They claim that the U.S. beef production uses twenty eight times for land and eleven times more water than any other types of meets. Beef production pumps up five times more planet warming gases into our atmosphere than chicken, or pork. Furthermore, developing nations raising cattle have significantly increased the amounts of gases they produce. These developing countries have increased fifty one percent from 1961-2010. Although gases from cattle have been increasing, U.S. beef industry claims that the U.S. create the least amount of greenhouse gases being

“chain migration” developed. The act removed quotas, and sought to define Americans as more than just white, while also guaranteeing new citizens their rights. Responses to the act varied. While it supported immigration, many saw the act as an attempt to build support for the Democratic Party, as it would provide a greater voting population. By 1965, activists were able to successfully gain federal aid for Mexican Americans, as Mexican Americans were officially recognized as an ethnic group. Some Chicanos claimed not enough was being done, and persuaded activists to use violence as a form of protest.

My escape was a bit hilarious but I took 5 men with me and it was horrible than you could imagine any kind of torture ,it was like getting your self dunked in a toilet that didn’t get flushed for three days. What we did was escape through the septic tank we had to get in the hatch and lay in almost 5 tons of that literal crap, it was like swimming in bangkok's sewer run off, but it wasn’t over yet we had to crawl through the septic system of the city of Hanoi’s sewer.
The United States expanded to the west to gain more land and believed that it was their God given right to spread their knowledge across the continent. With Manifest Destiny propelling them to the west it was only a matter of time before the railroads and the transformation from agriculture to industries brought exceptionalism to the United States, they felt as though they were the dominant nation because of their success in their country.

The United States is known as the country of opportunity, liberty and equality. People come to the United States to give themselves and their children an opportunity to live a better life than the one they had. When Donald Trump became president, many people became fearful of what would happen to them, especially those of Hispanic descent and people from Muslim countries. President Trump started working on changing the immigration policies. According to the Migration Policy Institute, approximately 13.5% (43.3 million) of the U.S. population are immigrants, documented and undocumented, and those are only the ones that the government knows about. Some are deported to México or to their homeland for other reasons such as murdering, illegal trafficking,
The goal of the halfway house is to provide a temporary safe environment for soon to be released prisoners. Some of the prisoners stay a short period of time approximately 6 months. Education for prisoners is very important so making sure that the prisoner is going to educational classes such as GED classes or trade school. Most important to the prisoners in the halfway
Immigration has existed around the world for centuries, decades, and included hundreds of cultures. Tired of poverty, a lack of opportunities, unequal treatment, political corruption, and lacking any choice, many decided to emigrate from their country of birth to seek new opportunities and a new and better life in another country, to settle a future for their families, to work hard and earn a place in life. As the nation of the opportunities, land of the dreams, and because of its foundation of a better, more equal world for all, the United States of America has been a point of hope for many of those people. A lot of nationals around the world have ended their research for a place to call home in the United States of America. By analyzing
Day in and day out many immigrants enter the United States of America in search of greener pastures. This greener pasture includes higher educational prospects and lucrative jobs. However, life usually does not turn out as many of them usually anticipate. The expectation they usually have prior to their entry to the United States is partly due to the all rosary and nice things they hear about America. They hear such nice things from the media and also from diaspora’s who return from America to their homeland who usually don’t share their entire experiences with them. There have been quite a number of reports and research findings that outline the various challenges that are faced by immigrants in America. I personally share some of these issues as an international student in a foreign country. Prior to coming to Metropolitan State University, I had colleagues who told me about the school and their excellent environments that facilitate learning. Also other friends who were in America made me aware of the opportunity to work alongside schooling which made me more interested as I needed financial aid. With all these palatable information in mind, I did apply for the school and even though the tuition fee was quite expensive considering my socio economic background, I did apply having the mindset of working to meet up certain financial needs. Upon arrival in America, I realized that I was given a fraction of the entire picture. I wasn't allowed to work outside of campus,
“Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door”(Lazarus). This is what America stood for when immigrants were free to come to the U.S., before the wars broke out and we became afraid that immigrants could be terrorists.
Immigration quickly began with the idea of achieving the American dream. It brought men, women, and families from all over the world to America, in search for life, liberty and happiness. Those early immigrants brought with them their own cultures, traditions and languages. Most of us currently living in the United States of America recognize our history derives from these early immigrants. This has made America a wonderfully diverse country. However, for years, illegal immigrants and legal immigrants has become a dominant issue. Mary Sanchez states her opinion in her article, “Immigration and U.S. Borders”, by saying “America needs to return to the country it once was and welcome with open arms all immigrants who come here with the purpose of having a better life.” I agree America should get back to fully accepting legal immigrants.
I interview my father who arrive to the united states from Mexico The major problem that motive my father to migrate to the U.S.A were as he mention on pages (1-2) was an economically problem has he said since he was a child he grew up in a farm with his parents and brothers and sisters and had many struggles since the only one that work was his father. My grandfather did all he could to give him an education and a better life that he had that’s the same idea he view for me when he become a father he was young and money was like the priority to care for the necessary that a child has, but to get money you need to have a job. With salary he earned at my grandfather farm he knew was not enough to support himself and a child and he could
