The use of body cameras as a resource in the law enforcement field has been adopted by agencies all across the country. However, body cameras have both beneficial applications and disadvantages in their use and application. Officers in many agencies across the country are required to wear body cameras to document what officers do on a daily basis or during interactions with the public. Body cameras have advantages and disadvantages that continue to be debated if it is a viable option for the future of law enforcement. In the digital age everyone wants to see a video of what happened rather than eyewitness accounts. This video evidence can allow officers to monitor their own behavior while also showing t the oobleck they are a satisfactory member of the police agency. Body cameras have been adopted by many agencies and I feel that they will not be going away unless a new technology replaces the system in place. The new technology in the criminal justice field that could be adopted by law enforcement agencies is the way for officers to run facial recognition on individuals on their patrol. This facial recognition could be developed in a variety of ways from running software in the car on people who pass the vehicle. Another way that this software could be implemented is through the use of goggles or glasses much like an augmented reality headset. This can create a realtime way for officers to identify individuals to see if the have a BOLO or have an outstanding warrant. Facial recognition would have to take great leaps to make it a practical way for officers to identify suspects. This software could be used on a lower scale and officers could use a camera to run the persons face through a variety of databases to identify an individual who may be lying about their name. This would both be a time saver and allow police to patrol more effectively their
