BAL should also work on the continued reduction of suppliers as well as maintaining and improving relationships with Key suppliers.

A new system would also allow them to look into new ways to purchase products from their suppliers to get the best prices available. Like reverse auctions or group buying with the Boeing

Issues Identification

Immediate Issue
The immediate issue facing Boeing Australia Limited (BAL) is its need to find an e-procurement system that will bridge the legacy systems that are already in use at BAL, its major customer, the Australian Defense Force (ADF) and its major suppliers. BAL needs to have a system that will help them decrease lead times, reduce the number of errors that are now caused by many steps as well as the manual processes involved in the current systems, it also needs to be in compliance with ADF standards and have cost savings in the long run. Upper management wanted to make sure that there was significant cost savings to be had if new software was implemented. If not it was a wait and see if prices go down for the software.
