The Boston Marathon bombing was a shocking and devastating event in the history of the United States. In the middle of what was supposed to be a very happy and cheerful event, three people lost their lives and 264 others were injured when two pressure cooker bombs went off near the finish line. Even though this was a truly horrific event, the initial response of the Boston Police Department to the explosions was incredible. Within minutes, additional Emergency Medical Service teams and the Boston Fire Department were rushing to the scene, hotels were evacuated, and police closed down a 15 block area around the blast site. The remaining runners were also redirected to a different area away from the explosion. It was truly impressive to see how well prepared everybody was in the case of an
Boston is a city of history. It is founded as one of the oldest city in the United States. The city witnessed ups and downs of the nation through more than two hundred years. People usually recall Boston along with its famous historical symbols, Boston Tea Party, Boston Red Sox and mostly recently, Boston Strong. Boston Strong is a slogan in reaction to the Boston Marathon Bombing, an event we should remember. It is the Boston Marathon Bombing that shows Bostonians are connected together and makes them strong.
McVeigh and Nichols assembled an ANNM explosive apparatus mounted in the back of a rental truck. The bomb was made up of about 5,000 pounds of ammonium nitrate and nitromethane. It was all packed in a 1993 Ford F-700 Ryder rental box truck from Junction City, Kansas. McVeigh rented the truck with the fake license Lori Fortier helped him make under the alias Robert D. Kling. After McVeigh had parked the truck with the bomb inside (after igniting two timed fuses one for two minutes and a back-up for five minutes) he ran to his getaway car which was three blocks away. While running the bomb went off and lifted McVeigh off the ground. 90 minutes later McVeigh was pulled over in his yellow 1977 Mercury Marquis near Perry, Oklahoma. He was then arrested for not having a license plate and
The Oklahoma City bombing of the Murrah building took place on April 19, 1995 by a 24-year-old army veteran, by the name of Timothy McVeigh and up until the 9-11 attack in New York City, was the worst terrorist attack on U.S soil. It took the lives of 168 people, leaving another 509 injured. McVeigh planned his attack for the date of the second anniversary of the governments assault near Waco. The raid in Waco ended unsuccessfully with six Branch Davidians and four federal agents dead. The Oklahoma bombing meant nothing more to him than pure revenge, his only goal was vengeance and he felt merely nothing.
The Oklahoma City Bombing of 1995 is known to be the “worst act of homegrown [domestic] terrorism in the nation’s history” (FBI, 2010). On April 19, 1995, Timothy McVeigh, parked a rented box truck outside of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City. No one knew that, “inside the vehicle was a powerful bomb made out of a deadly cocktail of agricultural fertilizer, diesel fuel, and other chemicals” (FBI, 2010). Before he exited the vehicle and headed towards his getaway car, he ignited two timed fuses – at exactly 9:02AM, the bomb exploded. The explosion killed 168 people, 19 of those being children, and injured nearly 650 (Scott, 2013).
The Oklahoma City Bombing was a significant event in the history of terrorism in the United States. On April 19, 1995, Timothy McVeigh detonated a powerful vehicle-borne explosive device in front of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City. Roughly one third of the federal building was destroyed, and many neighboring buildings were also destroyed or damaged. The bombing was considered the deadliest domestic terror attack in U.S. history (FBI, "Terror"). As a result, the way people viewed bombings and terrorism in general greatly changed.
The unfortunate event that took place on April 19, 1995 was a day that would change history throughout the nation in an unimaginable way due to the tragic circumstances that unfortunately unfolded. The Oklahoma City Bombing impacted the United States greatly because something of such devastation had never before occurred in this way up until that point in American history. This in fact would be an event that no one anticipated, no one knew anything of, but it would certainly be an eye opening day and a call for change.
In 1995, it all started as a peaceful Wednesday morning. People were starting work or just waking up in Oklahoma City. While all these peoples’ days were starting, a young male parked a yellow truck outside of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. That day, everyone's’ life in that building changed forever. The effects of the April 19,1995 bombing were more than just physical to the survivors of this horrific event.
If you have ever heard of the Oklahoma City Bombing then you know It was a very horrible experience, because of this there were hundreds that have died and kids as well. Because of this, this might change the minds of the people that have lost loved ones or family members or even kids, and are most likely very upset.
What Boston did right following the bombing is attributed to what Boston did prior to the bombing. Twenty years prior to the bombing, in 1993, then police commissioner, Ed Davis, began to develop a culture of collaboration and transparency that facilitated trust, social capital, and communications among the various agencies and organizations in Boston (Davis, 2014; Williamson, 2014). As Davis indicates, transparency came through community centric policing, which fostered the environment for collaboration and increased communications and the cultivation of social capital grew. Davis was driven by the stated goal of prevention, which he learned was best achieved through problem solving and partnership.
Said Martin Luther King Jr. after the Birmingham Bombing (“16th Street Baptist Church”). The 1963 Birmingham Church Bombing was a devastating event. Lives were lost and you were defined by your skin color.
One reason that I believe king Tut died of natural causes is because king Tut had a fractured leg. Since they didn’t have medicines or antibiotics back then, king Tut could have died of an infected wound. Some believe that he did this after falling out of his chariot. “A sudden leg fracture possibly introduced by a fall might have resulted in life threatening conditions.” Dr.Hawass explains. This is just one reason that I believe king Tut could have died of natural causes.
Yesterday afternoon at 12:01 p.m. a bomb detonated in the Financial District of Manhattan New York. 30 people were killed and 151 were severely injured. Of those 151 people, 8 are in critical condition. As of now, the authorities have not found the culprit. The public, and even some of the investigators, suspect that “Galleanists” (Italian anarchists) are the ones behind this. This Galleanists were the ones responsible for the bombings that occurred last year. This bombing has only served to increase the fear of communism taking over our nation.
