This report is a compilation of my work done with Bombardier Aerospace during the tenure of my Internship in Summer 2017, a requisite for MEng Aerospace being pursued at Concordia University. The aim of this internship was to implement Exhaust Nozzle Simulation using AIAA Dual Separate Flow Reference Nozzle. The AIAA Dual Flow Reference Nozzle Working Group was formed under the Ground Test Technical Committee with the aim of developing a reference nozzle configuration for verification of subscale thrust and air flow test rigs and recommended practices for their use. The group has established aero-lines for a general exhaust system known as the Dual Separate Flow Reference (DSFR) model like an exhaust nozzle of a commercial transport turbofan
A period of 5 years from 2008 to 2013 is considered for combustion instabilities performance evaluation before modifications measures are fully implemented. In the past major changes in the gas turbine exhaust gas temperature distribution as well as reduced margin to the combustion stability were observed in all 5 S1 gas turbines, leading to hot/cold spots events and trips, Acceleration Max 1,Max 2 unload events and Max 3 trips.
Bombardier (BBD) business has evolved from the early years of snowmobile manufacturing to a diversified business in the transportation industry. Now, more revenue comes from its aerospace division in comparison to recreational products and even transportation. BBD wanted to expand its transportation division (BT) and had recently concluded the negotiation of Adtranz, a company twice the size of BT. Using the Strategic Analysis Framework, below is the rationale to justify the acquisition of Adtranz for BBD.
1. Current Performance As of September 30, 2012, the total number of 138 units of CSeries100 and CSeries300 commercial jets are ordered, while it now expects the first delayed delivery before the end of next June, a delay that had been anticipated due to high performance milestones set by company .According to Pierre Beaudoin CEO ,company requires more time to meet certain CSeries program targets but others had been met and the company and its suppliers have "now fully harmonized all commitments to the program's schedule."
Has created some 9,300 jobs since 1992, and carries a 1.6 billion dollar payroll (1.2 billion US) Provides business to more than 5,200 Canadian suppliers At Bombardier, 90 percent of there revenues come from contracts outside Canada
Canadair 50 seat regional jets are continuing to be turned out at a rate of 60
The company researched in this report is Bombardier Canada. Bombardier has three headquarters; the Aerospace Administrative center is in Dorval, the Transportation Engineering site and divisional headquarters, and the Bombardier Inc. headquarters are both in Montreal (Bombardier Canada - Sites and contacts, 2014).
This report aims to investigate the effect the angle of attack of an aerofoil has on the air flow around it. This was done by recording the lift and drag forces the aerofoil experienced when positioned at different angles of attack. The experimental lift force the aerofoil experienced when positioned at different angles of attack was then compared with theoretical values. An attempt was made to explain any discrepancies between experimental and theoretical values.

When nitrous oxide is used in cars and rockets, it vaporizes, causing a significant cooling effect on the intake air. You increase the density of the air when the intake air pressure is reduced. This provides even more oxygen in the cylinder which is a good thing.
This summer I work at Pratt Industries’ recycling division in Conyers, GA as an accounting intern. I report to the division controller and help him with various accounting projects. My initial involvements include locating transaction information and performing late archiving with SAP on invoices, requesting and reviewing sales tax exemption certificates, and updating contract records. I also work on many small projects, including extracting budget information and conducting basic cost analysis for baler contracts. As the weeks progress, I am increasingly exposed to valuable information about the recycling industry, general business practices, workplace environment and my future career choices.
Overview Bombardier Aerospace is a division of Bombardier Inc. and the third largest global airplane manufacturer after Boeing and Airbus. Its headquarters are in Quebec, Canada, and with 33,600 employees is poised to become a major player in helping the developing world acquire aircraft. The C-Series is a family of narrow-body, twin-engine, medium range jet liners which, despite some challenges in orders, remains a committed product line. It is designed for the 100-150 seat market, which is about 20,000 aircraft globally and represents about $250 billion in revenue over the next few decades. One interesting fact about the C-Series is that it is truly global in components and supply, sourcing from manufacturers in China, Italy, The Netherlands, France, the United States, and Great Britain (Change is in the Air, 2012).
The performances achieved for IFCE and IMEP using this method are therefore unrealistically high and serve only as a general indication [3]. This Paper extends the previous investigations from [3] to real Atkinson cycles by using the simulation tool BOOST (AVL Co). This tool allows to take into consideration the true geometrical dimensions of the engine components (cylinder, valves, channels, pipes, manifolds, turbocharger, intercooler, silencer etc.) and the losses caused by friction and heat transfer along the intake and exhaust gas pipes. In addition, the power balance of turbochargers determines the actual boost pressure level of the engine. The turbochargers (TC) are modeled for these investigation in a simple manner. It describes the expansion process in the turbines (Tx) by means of their discharge coefficients while the air compaction in the compressors occurs up to a maximum pressure ratio, which depends on the available turbine output. To be able to simulate cycles with very high boost pressures as well, three intercooled TC are placed in line (three-stage turbocharging, see Fig. 1). When the boost pressure required for preserving the pressure limit on the cycle is low, the superfluous TC are kept in use (i.e. are not bypassed). The expansion and compression ratios of the turbines and compressors tend gradually toward 1, i.e. these TC switch off themselves thermodynamically. The asymmetrical crank mechanism used here
The location and proper sizing of intake and exhaust louver shall be determined precisely which the air flow from entry to exit would not be obstructed.
In this report, I will reflect upon the challenges and learning experiences I faced during my internship at BINUS Career in Jakarta, Indonesia. I spent three weeks working in the social media department, with the aim of improving their social media presence and advertising success. This project was a team based one and I worked closely with my partner on all stages of the project. As I did not have a background in human resources or marketing, the first challenge was applying my knowledge and research skills from my major in sociology to a new discipline. In this report, I will reflect upon my experiences in working on a team project, difficulties with cross-cultural communication and improving my problem-solving skills and initiative. Throughout the report, I will utilise the 5Rs of Reflection cited in Anon to analyse my experience (Anon, n.d.). This will consist of ‘reporting’ by describing my experience, ‘responding’, by describing my emotional response to the situation, ‘relating’ to the literature, ‘reasoning’ by explaining how the literature influences my thinking and ‘reconstructing’ by explaining what this learning experience means to me.
William et al [3], in their investigation of the cap-shock pattern in a rocket nozzle, pointed out that significant reduction in thrust performance of launch vehicle results due to imperfect exhaust profile. They also mentioned in their investigation, that the contour of the nozzle directly influences the shock structure and subsequent plume
