A picture is worth a thousand words, but some pictures are indescribable. The bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki was a tragic action caused by America in an act of war. This action caused hundred of thousands of people to die, and the ones who survived will die later from radiation, which causes cancer, or was blinded by the burst of light when the bomb hit Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This bombing was caused from the disagreement of America and Japan, which was finally settled in August 15, 1945.
The first bombing killed 80,000 innocent lives in hiroshima and the second bombing killed an estimate of 40,000 people in Nagasaki. The bombing was not discussed between the two enemies. The pictures that are around right now show more detail of the bombing then what was described by the people. The was more evidence shown in

They loaded the 9000 pound bomb of uranium into the B-29 bomber. The flyer Enola Gay dropped the bomb, known as “Little Boy”, on Hiroshima. The bombing happened at 8:15 in the morning 2000 feet above Hiroshima. The blast equaled to 12-15,000 tons of TNT, destroying five square miles of the city. The next explosion happened in Nagasaki, known as “Fat Boy”. This explosion happen 11:02 in the morning on August 9, by a B-29 bomber known as Charles Sweeney. More powerful than the one used at Hiroshima, the bomb weighed nearly 10,000 pounds and was built to produce a 22-kiloton blast. The photo doesn’t show much detail of the bombing nor’ tell us where at, rather than the destruction it caused. This bombing killed nearly 40,000 japanese citizens and “little boy” wiped out around 80,000 citizens which was nearly 90 percent of the population. The picture tells many story but only people who has witnessed or was related to the people in the bombing know the story. Many different stories have been told and one picture can only relate to the story not one can tell the whole story
1. The bombings killed 129,000-246,000 people in total over two to four months. The Japanese army managed to kill over 300,000 people in a single city over a span of just over a month. People really shouldn't be calling the bombings truculent when Japan's allies, the nazis, started the Holocaust and committed genocide .2. The US even gave Japan a chance to surrender before the bombs were dropped by issuing the Potsdam declaration which stated that if they didn’t surrender, Japan would face “prompt and utter destruction”. Japan did not surrender so they had to face the consequence. The US could have just dropped the bombs without any warning, but they decided to give Japan a chance to surrender first. This shows that the US were not inhumane in the bombings of Hiroshima and
With the new working bomb, during World War II American B-29 bomber dropped the world’s first atomic bomb called the little boy weighing 9,000 pounds on Hiroshima, Japan instantly killing eighty-thousand people then killing over tens of thousands of people after due to radiation exposure. Three days later another bomb
“Little Boy” and “Fat Man” were the first atomic bombs created, and delivered revolutionary damage. Little Boy was the first bomb to detonate over Japan. Approximately 90% of people within half a mile from the location of the explosion died almost instantly. Only about 10% of buildings in Hiroshima remained standing or undamaged. The massive explosion happened so fast that clothing patterns burned into the skin of victims far enough away to avoid instant death. Along with this, the blinding flash of light
During the early morning of August 6, 1945, after numerous years of conflict between the US and Japan in the Pacific, the Enola Gay, an American B-29 bomber, loaded with a new and destructive weapon, soared across the sky over the Japanese city of Hiroshima. Seconds later, that new weapon- an atomic bomb that released its destructive energy by the splitting of uranium atoms- lit up the sky, killing nearly 80,000 Japanese civilians instantly. Three days later, the United States dropped a second bomb on the Japanese city of Nagasaki, which resulted in about 40,000 more instant deaths. Thousands of more Japanese civilians died over time due to radiation sickness, leukemia, and other types of cancer. After losing thousands of people,
On the 6th of August 1945 an American B-29 Bomber plane launched a dangerous atomic bomb called “Little Boy”, in the centre of the city of Hiroshima. The Bombs left 140,000 people dead and another ten thousand died later from the toxic radiation exposure.
The first atomic bomb was named Little Boy. Little boy hit Hiroshima August 6th, 1945. When the bomb went off it killed at least 135 people. The second atomic bomb was named Fat Man. Fat Man hit Nagasaki three days after the first atomic bomb did. When Fat Man Exploded it killed at least 50,000 people (Mason). The United States was more interested in ending the war than suffering. The bombs did what they were built for, ultimate destruction. Six days after the bombs blew up the emperor of Japan broadcasted all across the nation that Japan surrendered. The bombs created such a high level of devastation the japanese had no choice but to surrender. The United
The primary bomb, dropped on the city of Hiroshima on August 6, 1945, lost around 135,000 lives. The second bomb hit Nagasaki three days later and killed from 50,000 up to 74,000 deaths. In the article The View from Under the
The first bomb, a 9000 pound uranium-235 explosive device, was loaded into the B-29 bomber named Enola Gay was targeting Hiroshima.
Within the first few months after the bombing, it is estimated by the Radiation Effects Research Foundation (a cooperative Japan-U.S. organization) that between 90,000 and 166,000 people died in Hiroshima, while another 60,000 to 80,000 died in Nagasaki. These deaths include those who died
On the day of August 6, 1945 in Hiroshima. No one was suspecting what was to come that day. At approximately 10:34 a.m, the residents of Hiroshima will experience the absolute dominance of the Atomic Bomb. It killed over 60 thousand people instantly and the radiation killed over 40 thousand more people. The consternation of the Atomic bomb killed innocuous civilians. Three days after that, another one was dropped on the city of Nagasaki at 11:02 a.m. This bomb was significantly stronger and larger than the previous one and it killed even more harmless civilians. The lives of the people were destroyed and the survivors were traumatized. The families were also destroyed as a result of the bomb. The aftereffects were devastating and many are tumultuous about what happened. This was not supposed to be the intended effect. The Bomb was supposed to end the war and not cause grieves of the people of
On August 9, 1945 the second atomic bomb dropped in Nagasaki, Japan by the United states. The first atomic bomb that was dropped in Hiroshima was not enough to convince the Japanese war council to accept the Potsdam Conference’s demand for an unconditional surrender. Following the plutonium based bombing in Hiroshima, The United States had already planned to drop the second atomic bomb in Nagasaki. The Nagasaki A bomb, which was a uranium based bomb, was originally set to be dropped on August 11, but was moved up in date due to unforeseen weather conditions. The bomb was dropped at 11:02 a.m by Frederick Brock who was flying a B-29 bomber at 1,650 feet above the city. The force of the atomic bombing was that of 22,000 tons of TNT and had between 60,000 and 80,000 victims. There is no exact figures available of victims because the force
The study was done by secretary of war stimson predicted five to ten million japanese fatalities. Their was some support for the bomb even among some of the japanese. If the military had its way they would have kept fighting the japanese until all 80 million japanese were dead. A japanese professor recalled that at wars end, due to extreme food rationing he had weighed less that 90 pounds and could scarcely climb a flight of stairs. He said he couldn't have survived another month. The atomic bomb saved him and many japanese. Another concurrent argument supporting the use of the bomb is that its primary objective of shortening the war. The bombs were dropped on August 6th and 9th. The next day the japanese requested a halting of the war. The names of the two atomic bombs that they used were. “Little boy” the bomb used against hiroshima, and the fat man bomb.
“By the end of 1945, some 145,000 people had died in Hiroshima, and some 75,000 people had died in Nagasaki. Tens of thousands more suffered serious injuries. Deaths among survivors of the bombings have continued over the years due primarily to the effects of radiation poisoning.”
The bomb killed 80,000 people in the first day. The bomb had a blast equal to 15,000 tons of TNT. It also weighted 9500 pounds. The second bomb called fat man dropped on the city of Nagasaki on August 9,1944. the bomb was bigger than the little boy,but killing
Through the efforts of the “Manhattan Project” and the scientists within it, several nuclear bombs were created. Two of which, “Little Boy” and “Fat Man,” ended up being dropped on Japan. “Little Boy,” the only uranium bomb created was dropped on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945 (Batchelder 99-105). “Fat Man,” the second nuclear bomb ever used in warfare, detonated above Nagasaki on August 11, 1945 (Batchelder 95-105). The leaders of the United States, decided that dropping the newly developed atomic bombs on Japan was the smartest action they could take at the time, given the current situation that the United States and the world was in. Dropping the bombs on Japan was mainly motivated by the belief that human lives could be saved. A massive invasion of the Japanese mainland was the only other option if no bombs were going to be dropped. The fact that the Japanese main army of approximately two million had never before been defeated on top of the Japanese terrain which was much better suited for guerrilla warfare than the mechanical ways of the U.S. put estimated American deaths alone well over the deaths at Hiroshima and Nagasaki combined (Batchelder 114-118).
