First let's start off with with what the Keeper’s are for those who don’t know. The Keepers are people who are like a Border Patrol. They watch the border and any kids that come over with no parents they take in. Now I know they sound like the good guys, but they're not. These people who take them in put them to work, they have to work for there food. They sometimes are even torchured by the Keepers. The kids they brought in were somewhat like orphans. Ton Ton was one of those kids. Ton Ton was beaten and brought to the infirmary. Ton Ton said that he was the one who told the story of what happened to them. He was not the smartest kid, but he smart enough to figure out what was going on and what was happening. When they caught Matt they acted
Human trafficking is the modernized version of slavery that involves force, fraud, and/or a type of labor in a sexual act. The United States government defines it to be “In which a sex act is forced in which the person induced has not yet been attained eighteen years of age” (National Institute of Justice). Human trafficking is a threat to all nations and promotes breakdown of families and can support organized crime. Trafficking can occur everywhere. Human trafficking and human smuggling are related to one another, but different crimes. The difference between smuggling and trafficking is that smuggling is the illegal movement of someone across a border while trafficking is the illegal exploitation of a person.
The problem of drugs coming over into the United States from Mexico is not new, but it is serious and in spite of many efforts by American law enforcement and border authorities, it continues day after day. This paper reviews the problem from several perspectives and brings to light attempts the U.S. has made to stop drug trafficking on our border with Mexico. The biggest issue regarding border security is the power of the drug cartels, and the majority of emphasis in this paper is directed towards the cartels.
Nothing drives emotions out the window more than hearing about innocent children being used for sex. In Cambodia, sex trafficking has grown into a troublesome issue. Sex trafficking has become one of the fastest growing crimes occurring internationally. It is the third largest crime-business in the world, after drugs and arms trafficking. Women, girls, and even men and boys are victims of the billion-dollar sex trafficking industry. Sex trafficking occurs everywhere, and it is not culturally specific, but a gender specific issue. There are numerous cases of sex trafficking within Cambodia, however child sex trafficking is extremely captivating and distressing to learn about.
The United States Border Patrol is a police force located all over America. Most people think the only job Border Patrol has is chasing down immigrants due to the media coverage on the Mexican border. Although it is a big part of the job it is not the only thing done. The main position for agents is in Mexico, another main location is Canada. Between the two locations 21,000 agents patrol 6,000 miles. (Department of Homeland Security, n.d.) The Border Patrol’s keeps illegal people, drugs, and weapons of mass destruction from entering our country. Another major responsibility is to prevent terrorist from trying to cross the border. In order to prevent this from happening Border Patrol have check points with man power alert at all times. Equipped with the best equipment from the government they stop virtually everything crossing. I along with most of the country feel that this is a very important job in the United States.
Human trafficking, or the selling and buying of people, is a well-hidden yet prominent issue within today’s society. It is both an immoral and horrific topic that needs brought to attention and dealt with. When human beings are manipulated into work, sexual servitude, or economic hardship, human trafficking is occurring. In the year of 2006, only one individual is convicted of human trafficking per 800 victims (UNGIFT). By looking at straight statistics, reasons human trafficking happens, and the toll it has on people, it is very clear that this is a major issue that is happening in our world.
Border Patrol and U.S. CustomsBoth Border Patrol and U.S. Customs work together under the same agency, and worktowards the same goal, yet they perform their duty tasks differently. Protecting the nationsborders from drug smuggling, human trafficking, and terrorism is not an easy task to perform.Border Patrol agents and U.S. Customs officers perform this risky task on the front line of ourcountry by putting their lives in danger on a daily basis. Although Border Patrol (BP), and U.S.Customs and Border Protection (CBP) differ in work location, and work duties they also sharevarious similarities in pay, benefits, and outcome. The officers working as CBP and agentsworking as BP risk their lives at their work of duty, and they both work towards the
The Iguala Mass Kidnapping took place on 26th September 2014 at approximately 9:30 pm. Forty-three students from the Ayotzinapa Normal School, in the state of Guerrero were travelling on buses to the city of Iguala (birth place of the Mexican national flag). The students were on the buses to attend a political campaign meeting, held by the Mayor of Iguala’s wife. She was trying to boost her popularity for the upcoming elections. It is believed that the Mayor’s wife ordered the local police (that she had corruption ties with) to kidnap the students and later handed them over to the local cartel. It is also believed that she had ties with the cartel. The students were attacked and kidnapped, with no chance to escape. They had nothing to
The U.S. Border Patrol to me is very important to the United States of America and to me as well. Without the Border Patrol, America would be a goat standing in the middle of a wolf cage. The Border Patrol and their agents border the boundaries of America so we can be safe in our homes. People don’t realize how important any kind of law enforcement is, until the day that they need assistance comes. I don’t take our men and women who protect us Americans; it is something that not everyone can say that they have. I have no one in my family that has worked with the Border Patrol, and I want to be the first in my family to join the Border Patrol. I am from Del Rio Texas, a border town neighbors with Mexico. The U.S. Border
The U.S. Borders are here to protect the U.S., but are they really? The borders prevent illegal immigrant coming to the U.S., buy yet they don’t seem to be doing their jobs. There is a border dividing Canada and Mexico.
“Fourteen Mexicanos died in the biggest, single instance of “die off” in border history” (PPT, “PEOPLE”). During 2001, a group of illegal immigrants from Mexico attempted to cross the United States-Mexico border with insufficient provisions. People named them for the nearest border station-Wellton, the Wellton 26. Of those who attempted the trip, only 12 narrowly escaped with their lives. People named the fourteen people who died as the Yuma 14.
To create terrorism is to create unlawful violence or war that is intentionally targeted to civilians. It can also be defined as a systematic use of terror to induce violent attacks that often lead to war. The network of Al-Qaeda, created by terrorist leader Osama Bin Laden, was formed by the World Islamic Front for Jihad against Jews and their Crusaders. Right after its creation, there were attacks at the US embassies in Kenya in 1998. Bin Laden then planned for the attacks after 2000, as there was an attempt to bomb Los Angeles International Airport but it was stopped. In October 2000, the USS Cole bombing occurred. This was immediately followed by the infamous September 11 2001 terrorist attack. This point in time kickstarted the beginning of wartime in North America.
Approximately 11 million people lives in the 42 counties and 39 Mexican municipalities located along the U.S.-Mexico border, and 86% of those people reside in 14 pairs of sister cities, metropolitan areas divided by the international border. Border residents share many resources and environmental problems: issues of great concern include air quality, water quantity and quality, and animal control. The communities along the border are economically and socially interdependent, with more than 1 million legal northbound crossings every day. The principal health problems at the U.S.-Mexico border are characterized by disparities in health systems, which result from the lower health standards and socioeconomic conditions of Mexican border communities
Border Violence, This only happens in the border such as in Presidio Tx & Ojinaga Chih, El Paso Tx & Juarez, Del Rio Tx & Acuna, and San Diego Cali & Tijuana and so on. Border violence is a very unhealthy and violent thing to be around especially if you’re young and grow up around it, it would prevent many scars in your life. Border violence is the triple threat of drug smuggling, illegal aliens, violent gangs, and the concomitant rise in violence is no more evident than in the state of Texas. The illegal alien smugglers, drug smugglers and criminal gangs use these major highways to then spread into America. Will it ever get better? They recently announced that safety and security along the border is better than ever and the ongoing violence
The United States and Mexican border has been a topic long debated between citizens and politicians, on one hand the trade between the two countries has shown great economic prosperity since the introduction of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), notwithstanding this success there has also been a huge spike in human trafficking and other illegal activity since the inception of the border. While the growth of the GDP for all three countries involved (United States, Mexico, Canada) has become evident it is unclear whether it is truly fair to all parties involved.
