Boston Demographics Boston is the Massachusetts’ capital, and the largest city founded in 1630, one of the oldest city in the United States. The city of Boston now has approximately 667, 137 people and is considered to be center for higher learning and international medicine (Boston Redevelopment Authority, 2014). Boston is made-up of the following group of people: “White: 53.9% (non-Hispanic: 47%), Black or African American: 24.4%, Native American: 0.4%, Asian: 8.9%, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander: 0.0%, Two or more: 3.9% and Hispanic or Latino of any race: 17.5%” (United States Census Bureau, 2015, p. 1). Among the twenty-three U.S cities, Boston has the fifth highest percentage of the immigrant residents. According to the New Bostonians 2013-2014 report, the number of foreign-born living in Boston was 27.1 percent of the Boston population, which is an increase of 9 percent from year 2000 (Boston Redevelopment Authority, 2014).
