Boston University is a perfect fit for me because of what the school offers its student. It provides a variety of majors and minors that fit my desire to pursue a career in the medical profession. I’m interested in double majoring in Biology and Economics. When I visited the college, the students and staff were accommodating and outgoing. During my tour, I was intrigued as the student guide told us about the diverse student population that occupied the school from across the US and over 100 countries around the world. The city of Boston is filled with rich history and landmarks to explore, and the campus location is ideal. As a student, I want to study abroad and join many activities and clubs. From the 36 locations, I’m pleased to learn
Studying abroad will be an experience of a lifetime. Going beyond the US Coastlines that I have never crossed will get be valuable life lessons that I must learn to be successful in my future career. I want to increase my knowledge both inside and outside of the classroom, and I believe the best way to do that for me is to continue to go beyond those small town borders that have kept me
1.) What is the marginal cost estimate of the Phase 4 hospital services, assuming that 60 percent of the designated costs are fixed and the remaining costs are variable?
In the 1920s, Americans were trying to figure out what was everyone’s role in society. During this time women started to take on bigger jobs then housekeeping and African Americans are finally standing up for their race. Once 1929 hit, Herbert Hoover, America’s newest president, was viewed as an ‘American Superhero’ at that time because of everything he promised society; however, America gets hit by the Great Depression leaving society in a hole. While banking systems were unstable and overproduction were leaving people bankrupt, Herbert Hoover was blaming Europe and was failing to keep society financially stable. As his presidency went on, filmmakers made film cycles and gangster pictures like Little Caesar that portrayed America’s corrupt society during the Great Depression. By the end of his campaign, Hoover was known as the worst American ever which led to the rising of Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1933. Roosevelt saw the struggling society as an opportunity to help his campaign in which he created the New Deal. America was given an opportunity that allowed them to look forward to the future. During Herbert Hoover’s presidency, America did not support the federal government, but after Franklin D. Roosevelt ran for president and promised a New Deal, they began to look more favorably on the government.
Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine is a very appealing school to me for various reasons. First reason is the the geological location of the school. Having lived in the northeast my whole life I feel that it would not be a big adjustment for me to move to the city of Boston. Next, the city of Boston is one of the most cultured cities in America and getting the opportunity to explore it would be an absolute pleasure. Lastly, the doctor that I have shadowed over the past year is a graduate from Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine and has told me about all of the wonderful experiences he had during his time in dental school.
As I felt the snow crunch beneath my boots and snowflakes melt on my face, I was somehow not shivering. In fact, I wasn’t cold in the slightest. It was almost as if my freshly initiated love for Boston College warmed me from the inside out. From the moment I stepped foot on campus on that brisk February day, I knew that Boston College was where I belonged. After completing my tour and participating in an information session, I realized that, through its strong Jesuit education, Boston College would offer innumerable opportunities for me to grow both personally and intellectually.
The school I would like to attend is Boston University. Boston University is a private school in Boston, right across from Fenway stadium. Boston University is a very nice college with excellent programs. Tuition at Boston University is not cheap. Tuition and fees make it around 50,000$ a semester. The average student gets around 36,000$ in financial aid. Most students graduate around 40,000$ in debt. The federal work/study program is available at Boston University.
Before I was accepted to this University back in 2012, my school took us on a trip to visit the school. When we arrived on the bus I was so excited. When I stepped off the bus, I knew that this school was made for me. The way the school looked to the way they operated fit me. The operation of the school is very easy to learn and easy to adapt to. The operation included easy access to counselors for first year students as well as transfer students. This is very helpful for the students who are new to school and do not have anyone to show them around, like I did not. I also loved the way they had Freshman’s in particular dorms
My main inspiration is the medical field. My attraction to the medical program offered at Le Moyne College is based on the class size and physical location. The programs being offered will help me develop a better concentration, and getting involved with the culture that surrounds us. The aspects about the medical program that I specifically like is providing hospitality services to people, interacting with others, and lastly finding cures to help society stay healthy and live longer. I always looked up to this field because every time I step into a hospital I sense the warm attitude of the workers, and I manage to have a conversation with them. It would be amazing to learn more about the medical field and developing new skills to be used for greater
To make a final decision about whether biology is the right major for me and the University of Miami is fathomable, I had to do a little research. I interviewed three people to give me a broader perspective about majoring in biology and possibly pursuing the major at the University of Miami. I toured the campus in person and virtually to get a feel for the 4-year university I may be attending. Also, I searched for medical schools to help me decide if majoring in biology would benefit me, what I need to get into medical school and what I want in a medical school.
During my undergraduate career at Mount Holyoke College, I have taken an array of courses; with topics ranging from GIS to geomorphology to a field course that involves a ten-day trip to Death Valley National Park in California. My multidisciplinary knowledge of the geosciences granted me the privilege to join a research project with a fellow student and her advisor, Professor Alan Werner. Conducted through Harvard Forest, her project assesses the change in stratigraphy within sediment cores in Marblehead, Massachusetts. I am responsible for using her previously gathered XRF-scanner data to determine the paleoclimate immediately following the glacial maximum about 14,000 years ago. I also have access to data showing the core’s magnetic susceptibility and organic matter content. Through the analysis of this data, I hope to determine the levels of chemical elements, associated with a marine setting, that are present in these sediment cores. My primary objective is to determine whether or not this area of Massachusetts is a continuation of the Presumpscot Formation in Maine. From this experience, I have gained knowledge in data analysis and how to write a scientific report describing my findings in the data and what they mean for understanding the paleoclimate of Marblehead, Massachusetts. This kind of skillset is transferrable across all scientific research, and the ability to conduct a research project specific to my interests will allow me to further develop my skills as a
How will the University of Connecticut School of Medicine best serve your needs of becoming a physician or physician scientist?
I dreamt of walking on Commonwealth Ave. I envisioned myself entering the Morse Auditorium, books in hand, eager to learn. Ever since I had visited the eclectic city of Boston in 2006, I knew it was the right fit for me. I knew that the city itself, along with the remarkable academic resources that Boston University offers would allow me to grow socially and mentally. Until this day I ask questions on end from my comrades at the BU, impatient to learn more and more about their lives on and off campus. From all the feedback I have received I have come to one conclusion: BU is the place where I will get a rich, broad background in all my studies. BU will give me the foundation and preparation I will need to enter any field of study.
education as much as American students do. While it is important for students to question and
I am about to complete my junior year as biology major at Boston University. My goal is to complete my undergraduate degree, and earn an advanced degree in MD or PhD. I have always had a strong interest in science especially chemistry and biology. Coming from a third world country, I did not have the opportunity to work in a lab. Coming to USA enabled and give me more opportunity then in my country. Roxbury Community College did not only prepared me for a four-year college, but it also gave me the background needed for my goal as an MD or PhD student.
The Bible, defined as a collection of sixty-six scriptures that compose the Old and New Testament. For a number of people, including catholics and religious officials, this holy script can be the final word between what is morally and religiously right and wrong. A biblical quotation, Radix malorum est cupiditas is Latin for avarice is the root of all evil. In the frame narrative, The Canterbury Tales, there is no limit to the use of religious and moral connections that the fictional characters present. The Wife of Bath and the Pardoner show their cupidinous for money through the prologues and tales. In the prologue told by the Wife of Bath, she uses the Bible to justify her actions to the other characters, as having multiple suitors is presented in the Bible. Her need to justify herself comes from the marriage of multiple wealthy decrepit men as each yielded an immense inheritance. This shows not only her justification of having remarried but her avidity for money. The Pardoner also references the Bible in his prologue to demonstrate his superiority when compared to the people he sells pardons and fake relics to as he admits his sin but takes the money of the guilt ridden people. The Pardoner’s main argument consists of simple yet intelligent logic, why would the people be buying the fraudulent items if they had not done anything for which they were necessary? His tale also references money, which leads to
