I am applying for the Art of the Americas Exhibition Research Internship listed on the Museum of Fine Arts website. I am a rising sophomore at Boston University, majoring in Art History and minoring in Communications. I am incredibly detail-oriented and I love to write, thus this internship, which combines my academic strengths with my passion for art, is ideal for me. Art sparks my fire. I come from a family of artists and collectors, so I have been blessed with the opportunity to experience art close-up since I was a child. This nurtured love has led me to narrow down my studies to focus on Art History, starting when I studied abroad during high school at the Westminster School in London, where I first discovered the subject to the present, at Boston University, where it is my major. Growing up close to the MFA, I have found that this museum is particularly special in that it beautifully captures the balance between the approachability that art should have and the awe-striking quality that art can evoke within its galleries. …show more content…
My writing style translates strongly across all purposes and formats. I recently won the Nachman Prize for Communications Writing this past spring for a profile piece on the MFA’s own Elliot Botswick Davis. I also can write for a broader audience than my academic endeavors have allowed, as seen through my senior project, completed in my last months at Milton Academy, a blog called Dolce de Leche (http://dolcedelechee.blogspot.com/). Through this venture, I ended up writing about everything from my experience in the pit at a concert to trying out a new recipe for bacon-wrapped water chestnuts, gaining a global
Waking up in the morning, going to sleep at night, and doing what one loves in between, is what success means. That, to me, encompasses being able to help people and possibly save lives as a career. There is a nobility in succeeding in certain areas one cares deeply about. Having the ability and capability to protect and serve is a strong desire within me. Developing my education, in order to further my success something that I perceive as a crucial aspect of being able to do what I love. Attending Endicott is the first step in this journey of mine.

One pleasant afternoon, my classmates and I decided to visit the Houston Museum of Fine Arts to begin on our museum assignment in world literature class. According to Houston Museum of Fine Art’s staff, MFAH considers as one of the largest museums in the nation and it contains many variety forms of art with more than several thousand years of unique history. Also, I have never been in a museum in a very long time especially as big as MFAH, and my experience about the museum was unique and pleasant. Although I have observed many great types and forms of art in the museum, there were few that interested me the most.
It must have been 13 years or so since I have been to the art museum, back in elementary school, on a one of a kind field trip. 13 years is way too long to have been away from the art museum, as my experience this year reminded me that. It was a beautiful, sunny October day, although it felt like July, and it was an even better day to talk a walk through the vast, mesmerizing pieces of art that the museum has to offer. The North Carolina Museum of Art provides an abundance of artwork from various time periods, cultures, and one can find art anywhere from Egyptian, to classical, to modern and contemporary art. The artwork that the museum provides not only displays an abundance of artwork, but

I was fortuned to have had parents who had a respect for all kinds of art and approached life with an open mind. Thus being furthered blessed to grow up near a metropolis which possesses a major art museum and galleries showcasing new talent, filling young eyes with wonderment. An art appreciation study early own in life would have been beneficial but alas, I burn with shame as one who falls in the class of “I know what I like” when asked about art. I am all agog for semester’s end to be better equipped to articulate on why I am moved by a particular piece. After listening to the first week lecture and reading the first two chapters of the course text, it was difficult to narrow the subject of my essay to one subject. But, Chapter Ones quotes

I. Purpose for this investigation is to pin-point problems within the Roanoke branch of Phoenix Advertising which have led to the recent resignations of an art director and an account executive, increasing client complaints about quality of work, productivity and demoralization of employees within that branch.
Florida International University is an amazing school but affording it is not easy, especially due to my circumstances. My mother is a single mother of four children, me being the oldest, each child five to seven years apart. She is a certified nursing assistant and only has some college completed. My mom had to put her life on hold, sacrificing her education to take care of her children. She was not born in the United States, but in Haiti. After my aunt there is not much family that lives in the United States, instead they live in Haiti. This scholarship would be a blessing, having a positive impact on my education and life. Financially, it will help my pay for the schooling I need to accomplish my goals that I wish to pursue at Florida International University. This scholarship can really be the start to my future and my plans.
I always have enjoyed learning Mathematics and have been fascinated by Business. This interest has led me to pursue my future study and career in the field of Business Analytics. At this stage, I am filled with genuine pleasure and profound optimism to submit this personal statement in support of my application for continuing my education at George Washington University.
How to best prepare for a Calculus/Physics test? Many college professors would recommend students to practice a variety of challenging problems. However, those problems often require students to use logical thinking and be able to apply multiple concepts to solve, and each can take from a couple minutes to an hour. Not many students can dedicate all of their time to one course, especially if they have other courses’ assignments as well. One good thing, at Everett Community College, students can get help with homework and prepare for their test in the Annex tutoring center, a center that is specifically for advanced Mathematics and Physics. If there’s one thing that prevents students from getting the maximum benefits from the center is that
17. On my museum experience, I took it in like every other visit to the museum I have ever had: much like other children expressed wonder and amazement at a circus performance or sports game; I was awestruck and mesmerized by the colors, the atmosphere, and the same restrained joy that I felt evident in the eyes of all the other observers. My girlfriend and I made our way through the museum, blending in with crowds of other viewers to see Cezanne, Gauguin, Brueghel, O’Keefe and the like in the permanent collection, making time to go from one end of the spectrum to the other. But my heart has always had a soft spot for
My experience to the Dallas Museum of Art was a bit different from the last time I had attended the museum. I was curious to see what pieces of art there would be and if it would be the same as the previous visit which was long ago, but to me all the pieces of art were so different and very interesting. It may have been because I saw all the pieces in a new perspective since learning about the different types of paintings there can be and knowing how and where sculptures come from. Even though I do not know much of art I really gave it a try into seeing what the artist may have wanted us to get out of his work. By reading a view of the chapters made me aware of art, I wouldn’t call myself an expert, but it was actually nice knowing that a
Positioned alongside Central Park within the heart of New York City, The Metropolitan Museum of Art is one of the largest and most influential art museums in the world. The Met houses an extensive collection of curated works that spans throughout various time periods and different cultures. The context of museums, especially one as influential as the Met, inherently predisposes its visitors to a set of understandings that subtly influence how they interpret and ultimately construct meanings about each individual object within a museum. By analyzing two separate works on exhibit at the Met, I will pose the argument that museums offer a unique expression of a world view that is dictated through every element of its construction.
I started my undergraduate career as a psychology major at UC Davis, where I was interested in understanding human behavior and identity formation. As I progressed in my studies, I became increasingly focused on collective memory--specifically, how we construct narratives to make meaning from our experiences. This trajectory led me to obtain bachelor’s degrees with both Film Studies and History.
