A very good morning to principal, teachers and students. Firstly, I would like thank you this school for giving me the opportunity to stand here in this beautiful morning. I am Miss Devaki Anndy, Nutrionist from Penang General Hospital and also a former student of this school. Today I would like to give a talk and the title is “Why breakfast is the most important meal of the day”. Breakfast are well defined as the first meal of the day eaten in the morning after a night’s sleep. When we are sleeping we are fasting for longer hours and breaking the fast should be the best meal of the day (Marotz 2009). Eating a substantial meal within the first few hours of waking up is much healthier for kids. Breakfast is an opportunity for a new beginning …show more content…
Children who skip breakfast more likely to suffer diabetes type 2. This is because after a period of fasting we had a higher level of insulin and our body will less respond to the hormone which normally regulates the amount of sugar in bloodstream. Over time, this constant flux in insulin levels can cause body to build up insulin resistance. For an example, those who skip breakfast in the morning have slightly higher blood sugar levels than children who regularly ate breakfast. Increase in sugar levels in bloodstream instead of being used as fuel leads to symptoms such as tiredness and thirst. .Diabetes in early childhood may lead to blindness and kidney failure. Another health problem may occur is coronary heart disease risk. As you sleep all night we are fasting and so if you do not break the fast regularly in the morning it puts a strain on your bodies that over the time leads to hypercholesterolemia and blood pressure problems which can lead to heart diseases. So your body need to be fed regularly in the morning in order to maintain healthy levels of blood lipids such as cholesterol, hormones such as insulin and normal blood
What if there was unhealthy kids all over the world? Some kids don’t eat a nutritional breakfast everyday. Breakfast is really the most important meal of the day because your body needs energy after you wake up and it can improve your overall health.
The importance of a healthy breakfast cannot be underestimated. A child who is undernourished in the morning will not be functional for her class until lunch. Also, schools can act as supporters of positive, healthy behaviors by offering nutritious breakfasts such as fruit and yogurt, versus the fast food breakfasts some adolescents might grab, if they get breakfast at all. Many school districts are beginning earlier and earlier in the day, and students are simply not hungry enough or do not get up early enough in the morning for breakfast, leaving them starving by 10am. Being able to grab breakfast in study hall can thus prevent many potential academic and nutritional problems.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day is a long standing saying that is believed by most, but is often misconstrued that anything for breakfast will work, which is wrong. Most sugary cereals that children love, are a terrible breakfast, contrary to what the hundreds of commercials try to imply. A good breakfast will incorporate all colors of the food pyramid and will be know as “brain foods” like fruits, nuts, and avocadoes. Breakfast should be something to wake you up in the morning, and give you energy for the first half of your day, not give you a sugar rush that will set you on course for a sugar induced crash
Days filled with to many things to do, too many people to see and too many places to go can leave meal-making another chore on the to-do list. By the end of the day, we are often tired, hungry and in a rush to get a meal on the table. Stress and lack of time is a bad recipe for unhealthy eating, but there are ways to make it easier. Weekly meal prep can get you organized for meal times, get your meal on the table faster and help you eat healthier. And, as an added bonus, weekly meal prep can be a fun family or friend activity!
It is a well known fact that students behave better in class after lunch; after a good lunch. It have happened to a lot of us, we are in a bad mood, either because we didn’t take our lunch or because we didn’t have time to spend with our friends, in consequence we are sleepy or in a bad mood in the next classes, so it is better to have a longer lunch because we can provide a better environment to the next classes and feel good with ourselves.
Research published in the Journal of Frontiers of Human Nueroscience shows that eating breakfast helps restore glycogen and stabilizes levels of insulin .If you don’t replenish your glucose stores in the morning,it’ll leave you feeling overly hungry, cranky, and fatigued.(yes, being hangry is a health problem)”These low blood-sugar symptoms are the first thing you are likely to experience from fasting all night long” Axe says.
Students don’t always have time to eat in the morning. Sometimes kids wait until the the morning to do their work, so they don’t have time to do other things. It is hard for a lot of people to get up in the morning, so they are rushing to get ready and be on time to school. They don’t have time to eat because they don’t have time to. They have
When one hears the phrase “Breakfast of Champions,” he envisions a grinning picture of Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan slam dunking, or Dale Earnhardt in a racecar on a box of Wheaties, a popular breakfast cereal. A few avid Saturday Night Live fans might recall a skit performed by James Belushi. In the skit, Belushi’s “Breakfast of Champions” was beer, cigarettes, and donuts. Neither of these examples are the subject of Kurt Vonnegut’s Breakfast of Champions or Good Bye Blue Morning. A “Breakfast of Champions” is actually a martini.
Breakfast is important because of what it provides in the long run. By avoiding breakfast, it causes an increased boost in “hunger hormones”. This leads to overeating at the next meal, which then causes spikes and dips in glucose. Fluctuating glucose leads to an increased risk of type two diabetes. The risk of type 2 diabetes can also be increased by consuming too many carbohydrates.

To unwind from tests, teachers, school work, and learning. All those subjects are very stressful in a young teenager’s life. Our lunch hour is the only hour from 8:00 a.m. to 2:50 p.m. that we have that we can just get away from school, and relax and have fun.
