BREAKING MY ARM
“OW !!!!!!!!!” I yelled when Levi fell on me. I was at wrestling practice with Levi Thomas, my coach Kevin Mucollick, and more of the wrestling kids. I was doing a move with Levi and he fell on me. I jumped up and yelled, “MY ARM MY ARM!!!!”
Kevin came over to me and says, “Are you ok?”
I say, “NO I THINK MY ARM IS BROKE!!” Kevin had his wife come over and look at it.
She said, “I don’t think it's broken, but let me wrap it just in case.” She wrapped it in paper wrap and told me to call my mom. When my mom got there she took me to the emergency room. The doctor took me for x-rays and about an hour later he came to me and said that it was broken. My heart sank. Then I asked him, “Will I get to do anything?” He said that I wouldn’t get to do anything. Then he went and got the stuff for my first cast. It was cloth paper and cast material. He put the cast material around my arm. Then he wrapped it in paper wrap. The doctor said, “You can't get it wet or it will fall apart.”

The doctor got the cast material and wrapped it around my arm. Then we got it wet so it would harden to my arm. Then he told me that I couldn't do anything for the next four weeks.
Four weeks later I came back to get my cast off. The doctor took my cast off and put me in a splint for a week. He said that it healed really good and I would be back to doing what i do all the time in about a week. Breaking my arm taught me to never wrestle with
when I was about 5 I broke my arm pretty badly and didn't know what
When we got there my parents were in the lobby my mom crying in my dad's lap. We hurried to the x-ray room. When we got there they put me to sleep for I would not struggle. When I woke up I had my parents in the room and a cast on my leg. My mom came up to me and said, “Your leg, it’s broken”
I fell. This felt like I didn’t have a wrist. But I got back up really carefully and went up to the lounge to my dad and sister. Ah, Ah, Dad I think I broke my wrist. No you didn’t. It was swelling up, It hurt so bad I couldn’t even believe this was happening.
Before realizing what was happening, a nurse was trying to put an IV in my arm. The needle compared to my little arm looked huge and too long to go in my arm. I refused to let them touch me and tried to run to my mom. When they had a hard time succeeding at putting my IV in, they decided to get help from my mom. She calmly told me to lay down and to watch her, while they put the needle in. It was hard to ignore the pain pulsing through my arm and all the commotion happening all around me. I looked at my mom and saw the tears that were falling down her face as they held me down. When they were done, there was an IV and a cast on my arm, so that I would not be able to pull the IV out. Then they wheeled me into another room where my mom held and comforted me, while we waited to hear the results.
You may need to wear the splint, brace, immobilizer, or cast for up to 6 weeks. You may be given crutches to help you move around.
Next, they put me in a different room upstairs to take some x-rays, they figured out that I had 2 fractures (so practically broken!) They put an enormous cast on my arm that went all the way down to my elbow and I had to wear that for 2 weeks or something like that. After a while of having it on, my arm got numb and I couldn’t feel my hand! When we got traveled back after the 2 weeks they gave me another cast. The difference was that it was smaller and only went down to my wrist also my 2 fingers (pinky and ring) were at a 90 degree angle. They told me “Wear that one for another
Post-surgery, your arm will be immobilized in a splint for at least a week. After a week you will be given an arm brace, which you will wear for most of your recovery. The brace limits your range of motion as you gradually gain it back. Physical therapy will take up to 12 months to complete. You will build up muscle in your arm and shoulder to gain strength and prevent another repeat of the injury. After therapy you will be able to throw and make your return to the diamond.
That day was not pain at all. After, I broken my arm my brother pooh man jump over the fence see if i were okay. He,” eww what wrong with your arm it's all green and it looks broken, you should go in the house.I replied, My arm is not broken i'm just tired. So, then went home to go to sleep. as, i were sleeping i felt someone sit on my arm. I woke up quickly i was really sweating also. It was my sister that sat on my arm and it hurted really bad. She said,” brother are you okay, what's wrong with your arm, it looks green and swollen; Then she felt my head and told me that i had fever.’’
After much debate, it was decided I was in fact NOT faking an arm injury and I was taken to Urgent Care. There I was X-Rayed and determined to have no fracture or break… I got a sling and a pat on the back. I returned home feeling very weak and wimpy, but my mother was not as sure that I was fine. The next day, I went to an orthopedic doctor who took one X-Ray and determined I had in fact broken my elbow. I was casted and told to come back in six weeks, little did he know I would be back a little
So, I go the hospital and get treated for my elbow, they pop it back into place and I was sent home later that night. Then the next day I go to my orthopedist who had more insight on my specific injury and he tells me that with basically not using my left arm and truly letting myself heal up, and once I get out of my cast and go to physical therapy that I should be able to come back by the end of the season. That was not really the news I wanted to hear because I wasn’t reassured that I would be able to see the field again, but there was still hope that I would see the field
exercises with it and she concluded that my hand may be broken and that I
Then we went to the doctor's office and my aunt was working there so she came and sat by us in the waiting room and went to the doctor's appointment with us. Then the nurse came in and observed the x-ray and said I broke and tiba and my growth plate. And found out the people at St.Mary's were wrong and I did break my growth plate when they told me that I didn’t. Then the doctor came in and said that she had to move my ankle to the way it was before I broke it then the doctor tried to move it but she couldn’t so she said that I had to get put to sleep and might have to do surgery on it. Then she put on my cast. Then I went to the hospital and got in my room and got an i.v. put in and I had to wait about 5 hours then she could the surgery. Then I got put to sleep and she moved my ankle and the right way. Then I woke up at about 11:00 at night then I went back to my room and then watched a movie and fell asleep and got to go home the next morning. I had to keep my cast on for 3 months and got it of in
On Wednesday, September 16th, 2015 I was at gymnastics practice, I was doing a skill on bars. I fell, I had a hard fall, a very hard fall. I was unable to feel or move my fingers, my coaches knew right away that there was a bad break in my forearm. On Wednesday, September 23rd, 2015 I had my first surgery.
Honestly , it was my first time going to the Accident and Emergency department i was scared and worried about what will happen to my wrist and how will my parents react .While my teacher was doing all the registration i sat there in state of shock . It was really a blessing having my best friend by my side comforting me and constantly telling me everything will be alright . I was then called to do some X-RAYS before consulting the doctor . My parents finally came and just right it was my turn to consult the doctor , my mother then went in together with me . The doctor was then examining my X-RAYS that i took before consulting him . My heart was beating very very fast as I am a right hander and i need my right hand to do many things . Finally the doctor spoke , he said that there was no obvious or major fractures shown in my X-RAYS but i have to put an temporary cast on my hand. He then referred me to a specialist at KK Children Bone Specialist to ensure there was no hairline fracture or any small minor fractures .
The weird part: I didn`t cry. I just remember screaming as loudly as I possibly could as my friends rushed to me and called my parents. I heard gasps, as people tried not to stare at my instantly bruised elbow turning purple and blue. As I was rushed into an ambulance, I could see the worry in my parents sorry eyes, and didn’t know what to do. Once we arrived at the intimidating hospital, with people on gearnies being rolled around all over the first floor, the doctor came to me after what felt like a year. They rolled me to a dark, secluded room where they x-rayed my elbow. I was rolled back and put on medicine that relieved the pain, and put me to sleep, which after all three doses, still barely worked.
