Shel Silverstein was an outstanding poet, and he has had so many careers in his lifetime and is a very talented man. Silverstein was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 25, 1930 and he died in Key West, Florida on May 10 1999 (www.poets.org). Silverstein served in the U.S. Army in 1950 and got deployed to Korea and Japan then he became a very popular poet (www.poets.org). Silverstein has many characteristic such as being very courageous by going into the army but, also he was a shy man he didn’t want info being leaked out about himself (www.biography.com). Silverstein was an out thinking kind of man which helped him improve his poems. He was this way because he had a unique style to his writing by making his poems fun for people by the rhythm he puts into them. The style is being different in every poem to be able to connect with his audience depending on what the purpose of the poem is. Although Silverstein wasn’t a popular poet at the time, he went to Playboy where he put his name out there and found his voice (www.poets.org). Silverstein has shown a new way of writing by not always being the same way of writing every poem but to be different.

During his career he hit a high-point at Playboy, his cartoons
