Victor finds out that the man found on the shore was dead and then later finds out that it was his friend, Henry Clerval. He know who committed the murder but he cannot say because it is his own creation and he has kept this a secret from everyone. Victor has to go to prison but he is treated nicely by Mr. Kirwin because he knows that he did not commit the murder. After the trial, Victor is released and goes home with his father. Victor tells his father that he was the one that killed William, Justine, and now Henry. His father thinks that he is insane and that it's not true but later understands when he explains that he is thee creator of the monster. Elizabeth wants to marry Victor, which we find out from a letter. Victor remembers wants
In chapter 6 and the beginning of chapter 7 it’s basically saying that Victor is being eaten alive by his guilt of his creation. After he returns to the university from home Victor finds a letter saying his youngest brother, William has been killed. He returns home but finds the gates lock and goes to wood where they found William, he then sees the monster and believe that it was it that killed William. In chapter 8 Victor finds out that someone else was assured of William's murder but feels to guilty about his creation to say what really happened. The accused is killed and it fills Victor with more guilt about his creation. In the following Victor thinks about suicide but stops himself for Elizabeth and his father. In chapter 10 Victor goes to a summit but when he reaches the top he sees the monster which some how talks Victor to coming to a cave and starts to tell his creator his life
After two innocent victims die in the hands of Victor because of the monster’s thirst for revenge, the monster confronts his creator insisting “Thy justice…is most due” . As he begs Victor to create another being, a female partner as hideous as he is, he admits the hurtful remorse he feels of his actions, promising “I will be even mild and docile to my natural lord and king, if thou wilt also perform thy part, the which thou owest me.” This reveals the monster understands right from wrong, justice from injustice, as he realizes he should stop his murder
Victor endangers people by not warning them about the creature. When Henry Clerval arrives in Ingolstadt, Victor explains his haggard appearance by telling him that he has been too “deeply engaged in one occupation” (88) to allow himself sufficient rest. He does not tell Henry any details about this occupation because he cannot bear to think about his creature. When Victor invites Henry to his apartment, he “[dreads] to behold this monster; but [he fears] still more that Henry should see him” (88). This shows that he is more concerned about Henry finding out how he has been spending his time than he is about his own safety. He does not want to tell his secret to his very close friend. For this reason, Victor makes Henry wait at the bottom of the stairs while he checks his apartment for the creature. Shortly after they enter the apartment, Victor becomes ill. His illness lasts several months. Since he is the only person who knows about the creature’s existence, there is nobody who can search for it while he is ill. During Victor’s illness, William Frankenstein, his youngest brother, is murdered by the monster. Although the
Henry Clerval- Victor’s childhood friend; seemingly the opposite of Victor; cares about humanity and morality; killed by the monster;
When the monster is betrayed by Victor the only thing that comforts his hurting is the thought and idea of revenge. The monster goes after Victor's brother, little William. When Victor finds out about his loss, he knows it was the monster which had made him feel devastated about what has occurred. This broke Victor emotionally because the relationship he had with his brother was robust. Victor cared about his brother more than his owned wife Elizabeth. The mindest the monster had was knowledgeably because of the way he knew taking the closest person away from Victor will harm him the most.
The monster kills William Frankenstein, Justine Moritz, and Henry Clerval before Victor Frankenstein’s darkest emotions are drawn out. With the loss of Henry Clerval, Victor’s closest friend, Victor is finally pushed to the brink of insanity and starts plotting his own revenge. Of course, the monster ends up murdering Elizabeth as well and while that death puts the monster’s quest for revenge at ease, it only intensifies the thirst for revenge that Victor Frankenstein tastes.
Elizabeth and his father contact Victor for him soon to find that his younger brother William had been murdered. He is shocked and upset, already unstable. A girl by the name Justine Moritz has been framed for the murder, having a picture of Caroline Frankenstein that William had on him before the murder. Victor finds out later in the novel that his creation had murdered his brother. While searching for food in the woods, he comes across a girl who seems like she is drowning and saves her; this was Justine. He then runs into William to find that he is Victor’s brother. Angered by this, he strangles William and takes the picture of Caroline Frankenstein out of his pocket, placing it in Justine’s dress. After Justine was framed for William’s murder, she comes to talk to Elizabeth. She tells her story and Elizabeth truly believes that Justine had nothing to do with the murder of William. Victor still does not speak up about the monster he created and Justine was executed. The only
Victor, after being convinced to create a female companion for the monster, realizes that this will only create double the amount of destruction, he then makes the choice to discontinue his project to prevent more devastation. Instead of less damage resulting from this choice it only brings more harm to his life and everyone around him. First, his good friend Henry Clerval is murdered by the beast and Victor is accused of this murder, “The human frame could no longer support the agonies that I endured, and I was carried out of the room in strong convulsions.” (Shelley 129). This was Victor’s reaction upon seeing Henry’s corpse and demonstrates how deeply his pursuit for knowledge affects him. Even though he is later released on circumstantial evidence, he will be scarred for life knowing that he responsible for yet another death. Given that Victor destroyed the monster’s only hope of having someone else like him in the world; the monster swears revenge and that he will return on Victor’s wedding night. Victor misinterpreted this warning and instead of the monster attacking Victor, his creation attacked and
That is when they made an agreement, the monster will stay far way from Victor and his family as long as possible, but he has to make another creature as the monster’s wife. Victor, who at first agreed with the deal, later realizes that it could be dangerous if there is more than one monster in this world. He broke his promise which makes the monster angry. It promised to come on his wedding night. After that, the monster killed Henry Clarvel, Victor’s best friend. Victor was not only sad mentally, but he also sick physically because of his sadness. When he started to recover, he marries Elizabeth, but then again, the monster killed Elizabeth in her wedding night. Victor’s father who cannot stand the sadness anymore passed away. These people’s deaths have cause a lot of changes in Victor’s feeling. Victor, who at first afraid of the monster, become more brave to kill the monster by his own hand. That is why he decided to go and find the monster. The story ended with Victor’s death because of his age and tiredness after chasing the monster anywhere. The monster who actually doesn’t have any purpose anymore since Victor passed away, decided to commit suicide by burning itself in the Arctic. So, this story is dominated by the Life-Death events which remark every important and major steps of the story. Victor’s obsession of making living thing, his mixed feelings, his chase-the-monster journey, and the tragedy in his love life, it all starts because of his family member’s
Victor Frankenstein in the book Frankenstein faces many terrible situations and has to face many consequences for trying to play God’s role in creating life. Victor seen and dealt with many situations as a young boy that will lead to his madness and obsession with science. Victor has always been intrigued with science and life ever since he was a boy. He studied natural science endlessly trying to master how to create a creature that could sustained life. When Victor finally creates his creature, he becomes disgusted with how it turns out. Victor runs from his creation failing to teach him any social or moral qualities. The creature haunts Victor killing many of his family and friends. Victor will try to run from the many problems he has caused. This causes Victor’s misery throughout the book. Victor becomes the true murderer in the book for trying to play God and create life with science.
Victor had a friend named Henry. After a friendless monster killed him, Victor, then became friendless too. “I saw the lifeless form of Henry Clerval stretched before me.” (Shelly 223) The monster killed Henry because Victor promises to make the monster a partner. At the last moment, Victor decided to not finish the partner. Then Victor destroys the partner and the monster gets really mad. After you read that part of the story you should always keep in mind to always keep your promise. If you don't something bad might happen. Henry was the only main friend to take care of Victor when he got sick. He was his family when his main family was absent. The next paragraph is going to connect with Catherine losing her friend Isabella but, it is not as painful as Victor.
Sometime after Justine’s execution is the next time that Victor encounters the Monster and now it has learned how to speak and function with no help from his creator. During this encounter the monster demands a mate and reluctantly Victor obliges. He then isolates himself as he did before and begins construction on this female monster but, Victor’s destructive impulses and sudden realization of what could transpire with these two abominations, sets the stage for the final blows that the monster will unleash on Victor’s loved ones.
Victor received a letter from his father saying that his youngest brother William has been murdered. He traveled to Geneva, but by the time he got there the gates were closed so he spent the night in the woods not far from town. As he was walking through the woods to where his brother's body was found, he noticed a monster walking around and he starts believing that his creation killed William. When he returned home, he finds out that Justine was being accused for the murder of William. When the body was found a servant found a picture of Caroline Frankenstein in Justine's pocket and it was last seen in William's possession. Victor believes she is innocent and wants to show that she is but all the evidence is being pointed at her and he started
When the creature began to formulate his devious plot of revenge against Victor is truly began to show how lonely he was going to become. It all started with the murder of poor little William which acted as an appetizer to the buffet of sorrows that was about to take place. Following William's death Justine's followed soon after, “this barrier was sealed with the blood of William and Justine” (Shelly 192). That quote was an affirmation about how the monster was going to take away anything that ever mattered to Victor. Slowly but surely the creature kills Victors best friend, father, and wife which leaves him absolutely devastated. His life was consumed by the death of his loved ones where he was beginning to see constantly, “Everywhere I turn I see the same figure” (Shelly 241). This all began with a selfish act which lead him to this destitute
I believe that to an extent Victor is to be blamed for the deaths of Henry and the others. Victor had created the creature-in his excitment he did not check on the creature's apperace. When the creature comes to like-Victor runs ,abandoning him. He did not teach or guide the creature,a creature who does not know anything and is most likely a child. He constently runs from responsiblities .
