A song that that has a lot of meaning and expresses my thoughts is “Headphones” by Britt Nicole. My interpretation of the song is you may struggle with fitting in but God made you the way you are supposed to be, so do not let what others say get to you. The beginning of the song is about a girl struggling to fit in. Her parents are telling her she is great, but the kids at school are telling her that she is weird. Because of this the girl wishes she could die. As the song goes Britt Nicole gives advice to those who are struggling with self-confidence. She says to put on headphones and listen to encouraging music. This song means a lot to me. As a teenager I have worried about what other people think of me. When I listen to this song
I chose this song because, in my opinion, it has a good thesis that backs up the song lyrics and it gives you a positive feeling. Basically, the song is telling us to always keep our faith and stay strong no matter what. It encourages people to
When the song came out in 2015, I was in the midst of graduating and truly coming to terms with the person I am. Going through this period of self-realization, the lyrics “You can't rush your healing/Darkness has its teachings/Love is never leaving/You can't rush your healing” (II. 19-22) really went to show me that the hard times I was going through were placed in my way as learning experiences. Listening to the mellow tunes of this song had such powerful repercussion on my mood as well. Not only the content of the words, reassuring me that everything will pass, but the actual vibrations of sound forced me into a meditative/healing state of
This song represents confidence because Clarkson said that even when things are bad you can always handle it and can always pull through and by pulling through you’re getting stronger.
Listening to the lyrics of your favorite song you automatically start to have a connection with that song. Then the song starts to represent you and your life because of the lyrics. Some songs show about being a fighter, having freedom, or just being you. There's a billion of songs out there and there's a billion of people who connect with those songs. Usually the most common reason why some songs represent people is by their past experience. For me some songs represent me because I decided to follow my dreams, living in the moment, and get right back up.
Different songs can have different intentions on what message they are trying to send to the listener. As the listener, they are the only ones who interpret what they think about the song or if they like it or not. To me certain songs have lyrics that tell stories and teach life lessons and other songs I don’t even have to listen to the lyrics to like the song. Songs can reflect different sides to a person and may also relate to people’s lives. Through my three songs “Logic – The Come Up” and “Yung Dash – Momma I Made It” they represent the saying of “You will get knocked down but it’s your choice whether to get back up or not” as well as not letting anyone who doubts you get in your way with whatever you are working for.
This song is a great representation of my friend situation this year. At the beginning of this year, my friend group that was very tight and supportive, split up. Our group got in a fight about including everyone, and ended up splitting in half. This was hard to go through, especially
are polluting our mind; however, there are people like Tasha Cobbs who music is uplifting, promotes peace, and love. Though many people do not want to admit it, the music we listen to plays a major role in our daily lives. My mind can be clogged up with doubts negative words said by others. Cobbs’ music, however, makes me have a sound mind and enables me to feel better about myself because my identity is not hidden in others but in Christ. The more positive music I listen to, the more I stay on the right path in life. For example, one of my friends told others a secret that we promised to not share with others. I could have listened to a song that promotes fighting and addressing people when they do you wrong, but instead I prayed and listened to a song covered by Tasha Cobbs “A heart that forgives”, and my mindset was changed and I went about the situation differently. Tasha Cobbs’ music also teaches me that I can always get along with others if I try to seek the best interest in others before I judge them, and that I do not have to have favoritism, but, I can be that light to show others that it is possible to unify our hearts and get along. There is a void in many people’s hearts, but love can fill this void, and that is what many people desire. Cobbs music helps me know that love conquers all things and that it is possible to live a life that is full of joy, in spite of what I may be going
This is another very simplistic song musically and contains lyrics that imply it is okay to be different. I want to focus mainly on the title of the song for this particular track. The title itself is stating that it is okay to be who you are. Be who you are and do not try to be anything other than what you are. Both of these songs are very relatable in the sense that they are try to verbalize that it is okay to be different and be who you are. Many of Nirvana’s songs are actually sending the same exact message, just in different words (Reynolds, 1991). They both relate in their simplistic style and relatable lyrics to generation
The song and the quote says that this is your world and you can go wherever you want to go. Don't listen to the songs that will make you feel down or make you feel bad about yourself. Listen to the song that make you feel invincible. You can do whatever you want in this world. Don't let anything let you down just be free.
Music has always played a governing role in my development during life. My first major connection with a song occurred when I was around nine years old. A majority of my time growing up was spent with my older sister, Melissa. We would always spend weekend nights in her bedroom with a group of her friends. I can vividly recall the setup of her room: the lights dimmed to an almost perfectly relaxed ambiance; a faint smell of vanilla and cinnamon (her favorite scents) from the candles burning on the dresser; and the television loud enough to hinder any outside noise. Often, these nights would consist of binge watching T.V. shows and story-telling among my sister’s friends, who at the time were much older than me. It was during one of these nights that a commercial came on, displayed by a channel called “VH1.” A music video came on the screen; The song was “How to Save a Life” by The Fray. As the song progressed the room was filled with the seemingly instinctual singing of her friends, almost up-to-par with the rhythm and
This song represents the talents that i have and what I have that we call determination. the song is fun and addicting for the whole family and more. Talent is tricky subject to get into, because this can go into many categories. I don't have many talents, but i get by and get the job done. In oak hill high school i was a silent and did not interact with anyone during class and man did i have bad acne. That's in the past and I grew confidence and i'm a manager at kfc. So things are not bad as their were back in the day when i was young and free. That's not the subject at hand, talents are really helpful and can entertain for years to come. Having no talent would make a person into that business guy that nobody likes. I mean nobody wants to be left out (except emos). The artist artist 009 sound system can be a good contender on what a person wants to be when the grow up and goto college” You can do anything you want to” that phrase helps represents the talent of adapting which I found out to be the most helpful to me. anyways talent can be a major part of like and should be taken seriously one day that talent can get that job the everyone else
For somebody who is not invested in artistic outlets, I absolutely love music. I like all kinds of music, from country to rap to today’s hits and Billboard’s Top 40. However, the only genre I will never grow tired of, and the one I have loved since a young age, is classic rock. There are a few classic rock songs that I relate so strongly to, and at times I could swear they were written just for me. No song reflects how I have felt more about my senior year though, than “Eclipse” by the band Pink Floyd. Senior year is a transitional part of my life, and it cannot be described in just one definite way. To reflect this, I selected a song that has no definite meaning.
78.06% of adult gave up on their dreams from when they were children because they didn’t think it was good enough or someone stopped them from pursuing their dreams. 21.94% Actually followed their dreams. Why do we have to live in a world where we are stopped from pursuing our dreams. It’s hard to be heard in all the noise that is going on in this world, so we have to try even harder to do what we want. I like the song “Noise” because it really describes how I feel. So many things are going on today that it’s hard to actually focus on what’s right and what we want to do not what others want us to do.
Growing up i had to grow up faster than other kids because my mom always had to work so i had to watch my brothers and make sure they eat and get there school clothes ready and mines too some nights i even had to tuck them in at night. My favorite song when i was young was Tupac Shakur Dear Mama cause he just explained all the obstacles him and his single mother had to go through. It just made me remember all the nights me and my mother struggled and didn’t know how bills would be payed or what the next meal will be. This song is a cultural lens criticism i feel like this song is a cultural lens criticism cause it’s a lot of people who probably went through some of the same problems or similar problem.
The second song I analyzed was “Paradise” by Coldplay. Similarly to “Kids”, the song “Paradise” starts with the idea of childhood. “When she was just a girl she expected the world. But it flew away from her reach so she ran away in her sleep and dreamed of paradise” is the opening verse for this tune. It talks of a young girl with big dreams expecting the world. As the girl in the song grows up she finds that life is not as simple as she believed. “Life goes on, it gets so heavy. The wheel breaks the butterfly. Every tear a waterfall. In the night the stormy night she'll close her eyes.” Those lyrics are a good example of how life has some downs, tears, and storms, but it talks of how the girl stays positive when the song says, “She’d say, ‘I know the sun must set to rise.’” I think this song is a good reflection of me. I have big dreams for myself, but as life goes on I go through some bumps in the road. I have encountered many of my own stormy nights, but I know the sun will rise to a clearer and brighter day in time. I have learned not to expect things to be handed to me, but to chase after my dreams, and my own perfect paradise to a path of success.
