In this discussion, I will be discussing how Bruce Campbell’s role in the Evil Dead showed great characterization with Ash Williams. A big characteristic about Ash in this movie is that Ash is incompetent at everything with the exception of fighting against the monsters in the Evil Dead. By watching the film, we can tell that Ash has experience with combat techniques and various weapons. For example, in the scene where Ash notices that Linda becomes possessed, Linda and Cheryl try to show Ash that they are not possessed. Right as this happens, they attack Ash with a dagger, he then uses this same dagger to impale Linda. This shows how Bruce Campbell gets into the characterization of Ash Williams and his habits of fighting off possessed people

“If you don’t know what you want, you end up with a lot you don’t.” – Chuck Palahniuk. The short story Zombie is a perfect example of this quote. So often as humans no one really knows what we want in life, we go to college for a job just to make money, not necessarily because it’s something we are passionate about. In the short story Zombie, there are many examples of not knowing what characters want so they do something drastic to get away from it all, which initially leads to something they don’t want and cannot change. Some of these things we don’t want could be small changeable things and things that we are not able to change anything about. In Chuck Palahniuk’s Zombie, the imagery of depression is used to create characterization and a
Through the beginning of “Batman Begins”, the creators of the movie used flashbacks to detail the journey of Bruce Wayne and how he has changed from the beginning of the movie to the end. By showing the flashback of Bruce Wayne in the car with Rachel, the creator of the movie managed to show the audience where Bruce Wayne stood on a moral level and how he was the complete opposite of what he came to be as the movie progressed. In the car scene, Rachel tells Bruce that his father would be ashamed of him for considering murder as a form of justice and a way to make a change. The use of flashback also played a role in how Bruce overcame his fear of bats and managed to make it into a symbol.

Have you ever been in a situation, where you feel not smart? Well Charlie wasn’t smart enough and his friends Joe and Frank made fun of him because he wasn’t smart. When Charlie wasn’t smart and all he thought was Joe and Frank and everyone playing with him, but they are making fun of him. I think Charlie was better after the surgery because he beat Algernon.
An instant example of his foolishness is seen when he travels back to the same cabin that tormented him so much in the first film ?Evil Dead?. So you instantly start to question his sanity. The fact that Ash is a man playing the horror film role of the ?last girl? also helps to make the film more amusing, as you generally find that the male characters in these films will be acting strong throughout. Ash however is seen to start to break down through the insanity of his surroundings at the start. He stares into a mirror and his reflection comes out and strangles him. This real shows the torture he is putting himself through, as when he looks again after blinking he realises he is strangling himself.
Ever since the first zombie movie was created in 1932, there has been a constant rise of zombie appearances in popular media. Like with all monsters, the majority of zombie media aimed to represent a certain aspect throughout the society in question. Whereas vampires represented romanticism and Dracula represented how a certain social group was viewed during a certain time period, zombies in Romero’s “Night of the Living Dead” aimed to create a situation whereby a group of people had to survive a night together, despite their racial tensions between one another. Being the founder of all subsequent zombie films, “Night of the Living Dead” provided a guideline for zombie behavior. As time passed, more and more versions of the zombie came out, whereby zombies stopped being a plot device and turned into the focus of the film itself. The Walking Dead, currently standing as the fourth most popular TV series, took a turn from this progression and decided to imitate Romero’s take on zombies. By including zombies which simply aimed to sustain themselves by consuming the flesh of the “live,” the creators of The Walking Dead caused the remaining survivors to gather together and rely on primitive human instinct to survive. Even though the zombies in this series run rampant, they play a very minimalistic metaphoric role. Instead, by presenting the zombies as a plot device, the characters in this series were able to demonstrate their true prejudiced view on society, ultimately revealing
