One of the greatest martial artists of all time is named Bruce Lee. He grew up in Hong Kong, China where he later spread Chinese Kung Fu throughout the United States. Bruce and his family would not have to worry about money since the father was an actor. Getting bullied in his private school, Lee was destined to practice Kung Fu. From there, he practiced Wing Chun under the tutelage of Master Yip. Lee’s mother noticed he would be getting into trouble with the police frequently, so she thought of sending him to the United States to study. When Lee moved to the U.S., he started to teach Americans the art of Kung Fu. Bruce became one of my biggest inspirations because of his reasoning behind every move he makes. He would practice with them to learn their techniques and gather information about their marital art. Gathering all of this information, he created a new fighting style he called Jeet Kune Do. In English this means “the way of the intercepting fist.” This means people will attack while defending. While a person is punching you, you are punching them back. He taught Americans the art of Jeet Kune do as well. He wanted to spread his knowledge to everyone, so they would carry it on for the next person and so on. He wanted to create a legacy, and he wanted to make a positive impact on the world. Bruce Lee let the world know about his philosophies and beliefs. He tried to make the world a better place. He tried to change the way people view Asian Americans through his acting (playing as a martial artist). Everyone would look up to him since he could beat up any guy. He eventually spread his name throughout the world and got people to view Asians in a more positive outlook.
