Following a wide search into universities and taught courses, I believe MSc Public health and health promotion at Brunel University, best suited the areas I am interested in. Furthermore, the impressive reputation of the university, renowned expert teaching staff as well as the course structure and content appealed to me. Some of my academic strengths, which will assist me in this course, include group discussion, literature reviews and participating in research and auditing. I am IT literate and speak fluent English and Somali. In the future, I envisage my career working as part of a multidisciplinary team involved in identifying obstacles to achieving health equity at a global scale. Furthermore being part of policymaking and implementation
I want to go to Brebeuf because from current students that I talked to Brebeuf has a friendly, warm and loving environment that I would like to be apart of. I would also like to be part of the phenomenal volleyball team Brebeuf has. I was watching a youtube video on Brebeuf’s channel that showcased the past graduation videos, and all of the graduates said that the school prepared them for college and that they will miss how Brebeuf treated them. I think that’s important for a school that the teachers help the students transition them from a middle school mentality to a more college thinking. I also like the community of the school, how every trusts each other and the diversity of the students. I want to go to Brebeuf because of the
As an enthusiastic Biology Ambassador for my sixth form, I enjoy learning about life processes and how individual components come together to fulfil a function. Research has huge significance in the discovery of new treatments and our understanding of life processes, in regards how things work, and making scientific advancements to accommodate for the way in which they work. I believe that a research placement at Nuffield is an amazing opportunity for me to strengthen my knowledge.
FlexMed will afford me the opportunity to gain more theoretical and practical skills in global health and health policies and enhance my future career as a doctor devoted to the quality of healthcare in the developing world. Should I be selected for the FlexMed program, I would change my major to Public Policy Analysis/Biology, a special major that would offer me the opportunity to intern at a local public health institution during the fall semester of senior year. I hope to focus on the health issues of underserved populations in LA and develop projects with MEDLIFE Claremont to address the issues. In addition, I plan to learn Thai and go back to Thailand during a summer to start a health education program in the school I volunteered with last summer. The program would primarily focus on sexually transmitted diseases in response to the new rise in HIV/AIDS cases among young people in Thailand. Because of the flexibility the program offers, I am also interested in studying abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark as a junior to study the health system in Northern Europe.
After receiving my bachelor's degrees in Public Health and Foreign Language and International Economics, and masters degrees in Epidemiology and International Economics, I plan on serving a minimum of six months with Doctors Without Borders-- a health advocacy organization that deploys doctors to communities with active need. Not only is this how I plan to serve my global community directly, but I also plan on using this international service work to develop my career. After going on to receive a Ph.D. in Epidemiology, I plan on becoming an economic advisor, or occupying a related job in a healthcare agency so that I may lead an initiative in solving the economic woes of African countries to set them up for long-term
Sitting in the very first row of the lecture theater 10 minutes before commencement, considering the most demanding question of the incoming lecture. Dedication? Nerd? No, this guy is Oliver - the big versatile man.

I have always been aware of global issues and needing to understand what is happening in the world has always been important to me. However, I never understood global concerns through a health paradigm. Many of the concepts presented in this course were not new to me, as I have been an active participant in global issues and organizations, such as Spread the Net Campaign to end malaria, as well as many different human rights causes. However, the new insight I gained was in regards to

I was also happy to see and hear guest speakers talk about their experiences regarding different paths of jobs one can get in the health communication field. This was a really great course. I also learned it is much more organized and that effective health communications is important to educate the public with tools and knowledge to respond suitably to health crises. I am definitely going to recommend this for future
Most SOPH in the UK are organized around the themes of capacity building, multidisciplinary approach, balanced teaching and research. Information is dissipated in traditional class room setting, either as full-time 12 month programmes, or as part-time 24-60 months programmes.(7) Some SOPH have adopted more technologically advanced means of education delivery, utilizing electronic means to provide distance learning facilities, especially for international students who may not be able to afford the cost of living in the UK. The curriculum of most courses in public health conventionally includes subject such as epidemiology, health policy, health promotion, health management, environmental health, human biology and health economics.(6,8,9) Currently however, the scope has been expanded to include courses involving statistical analysis and the use of computer programmes; the ability to access, manage and work with information; the ability to present and disseminate information in an effective manner; interview and
The multinational student body and the excellent research environment at ARU will create a valuable combination for my studies. Studying in the UK will provide me with the rich experience of a society built on sound public health policies. This is evidenced by the healthier UK population that is not burdened by preventable diseases as compared to the African sub-Saharan region. I have a keen interest in the operations of the Public Health England agency with an emphasis on its public health emergency preparation and dynamic research output. The benchmarking will enable me to learn its operations and borrow a leaf to improve the Kenyan public health
After finishing my Undergraduate, I have seen it wise to purse masters in public health, an area that I have much interest in. My favourite subjects at school were biology and exercise science – biomedical studies really float my boat – and as an optimistic 18 year old, I have visions of saving lives and making the world a better place. A health science degree from ANU will position me well to realise this vision.
