"When it comes to my playing, I take no prisoners," Buddy Rich tells Mel Torme in February 1949(Unofficial 1). Buddy Rich has taken drumming to new levels, developing ensembles that are centered around his stunning display of endurance and velocity, not to mention his remarkable showmanship. Buddy Rich is one of the most talented and influential drummers of all time. Born to the name Bernard "Buddy" Rich on September 30, 1917, in Brooklyn, NY to parents Robert and Bess, Rich quickly jumped into the world of show business at the early age of 18-months. Although loved in hometowns of the south, could a one-person child act attract enough in big northern cities? This was a chance he bet his money on, and finally made it big. Soon afterwards, many big Companies, such as Ludwig were sponsoring Traps. (Torme 27) Rich's family life at those times was very strenuous. His father with all the stresses of the common world, plus the new ones added by his child prodigy would often lead to physical confrontations in the household. Rich was often abused as a result of this (as were his brothers). This ultimately would help to contribute to his arrogance as an adult (Torme 2) As Rich grew his grand abilities would help place him in the spotlight for the duration of his life. His career quickly took off. From 1951 to 1966, Rich played with many groups and people. Such groups and people were Harry James, Les Brown, Charlie Ventura's Big Four and Norman Grandz's Jazz at the Philharmonic. In 1966, Rich formed his own big band (Downbeat 3).
Towards the end of his life, Rich's attitude and arrogance were showing their true colors. Mel Torme recalls such an event from a trip on Rich's tour bus where a tired Buddy lashed out at an Australian player for keeping a beard (Torme 2). Sadly enough Rich "suffered from a heart condition, and following surgery for a malignant brain tumor, died from heart failure in Los Angeles
Holly was a complex yet truly talented human being. (Amburn) “A triumph of subversion,” Buddy was slipping hedonism through the front door. (Drape) Not only did Holly influence many later generations of rock artists, but also, Holly became the model for countless singer-songwriters. From John Lennon to Bob Dylan, Holly was an inspiration. (Amburn) For example, The Stones and the Beatles made no secret of Buddy’s influence on them. Their names were inspired by Holley’s band, the Crickets. (Drape)

Introduction: Throughout the book of Into The Wild Chris McCandless is known to be a wacko reckless idiot, and is also known to be courageous and heroic. However does a courageous person go out into the wilderness knowing that the outcome will be fatal? People viewed him from different perspectives and also have broad range of opinions of this young man. Some deemed him to be incredibly dim-witted or a man that simply just followed his heart. Evidence shows that Chris McCandless is actually a mix of both. The first opinion that described McCandless was brainless, idiotic, and extremely foolish. Many passages from Into The Wild can support this outlook.

DeRoche’s biography Andrew Young: Civil Rights Ambassador, he successfully details how Young applied his experience in the Civil Rights Movement to his political career to help achieve peace and promote human rights in the United States and throughout the developing world. DeRoche’s research uses many primary sources such as a personal interview, excerpts from Young’s own autobiography, and direct quotes from speeches he made in Congress, making his study both thorough and reliable. Ultimately, DeRoche’s

That was always my experience—a poor boy in a rich town; a poor boy in a rich boy's school; a poor boy in a rich man's club at Princeton.... However, I have never been able to forgive the rich for being rich, and it has colored my entire life and works."
Sean "Puffy" Combs has established himself as one of the biggest names in hip-hop (Heal). Combs a Harlem native whose father was killed when he was only 3 years old, rose from the mean streets to the top of the music business (AP wire, March 18). "It is true that he started from scratch, and I don't think that because he was arrested, people will stop buying his albums (AP wire, March 18). Before pursuing his career as a vocalist, Combs was a business-minded Howard University student and an intern at Andre Harrell's Uptown Records. Combs soon became the A&R representative for Uptown. Instead of keeping with his studies, Miles was more concerned with his career as a musician in a band. Miles made some of his first recordings in 1945 and also joined Charlie Parker's quintet. Though Miles was not as developed during this time, his style was already easily recognizable and distinguished. In 1949, Miles had the opportunity to lead a band which consisted of nine players, also known as a nonet. The band used non-traditional instruments in a jazz setting. Many consider this to be the birth of. That same year Miles visited Europe and played at that year's Paris Jazz Festival in May.
All throughout America, competition flows through the people’s blood like an epidemic there’s no cure for. From the age Americans are infants, it is bred into them. They are taught that there are winners and there are losers, and not to be a loser. Although some believe this kind of competition can lead to success and happiness, the outcomes are quite the opposite. This is shown in Arthur Miller’s, Death of a Salesman when the main character, Willy Loman, not only lives his life by the myth of competition but also drives this myth into the minds of his family. This causes one of Willy’s sons to be led down a path of misguided aspirations, leads Willy to have very low self-esteem, and evokes poor relationships with others. Through this, Miller shows that competition is just a widely believed American myth which doesn’t lead to a fulfilling life.
Toshiaki Toyoda's feature debut "Pornostar" was a distinguished forerunner of what was about to follow
He manipulates members of the lower class such as Richard Rich and Norfolk in order to elevate his own status. His conniving characteristics allow him to gain control over the individuals he manipulates in order to benefit himself. Cromwell is aware Rich is seeking a job that will grant him higher status, so he offered Rich a job as Collector of Revenues in exchange for information about the silver cup Sir Thomas More received. He claims that King Henry deserves to get his divorce if he so desires and “the constant factor is the element of convenience” (Bolt, 73).
Richard Rich was a man who made many immoral decisions in order to progress in the community. Unlike the common man who believed, “better a live rat than a dead lion,” (127) Rich believed that getting the best available status was the only thing worth living for. Thomas More believed that men should have principle and live with pride but Rich developed into a character that causes pity. He receives a high status job causing from Cromwell but he had to sell out for it. He devalued his friendship with More for a money, as More stated, “why Richard, it profits a man nothing to give his soul for the whole world… but for Wales!” (158) Rich had sold his soul for money which is very embarrassing to More. Rich is a man who sold his soul for money, which demonstrates his weakness, because he sold out with little persuasion from Cromwell. This proves that wealth and status can overpower the eyes of an individual. Rich represents the temptation of power and how it can change and
For my analysis of Rich Cory I did not think this was relevant today. I say this because I focused more on the structure of the social class during that time. Because social classes are not structured today like then and played an importance in people lives. However, when I look at your perspective, Robin Williams it makes a little more sense. When you look at Robin Williams, everyone in the business wanted to be just like him. The fact is, Robin Williams knew everyone wanted to be like him, so he tried to exceed their expectations. When Robin Williams became less relevant or popular he tried harder and made new material. I think the overall idea, however, is that money doesn't buy happiness and that people can have everything
When spring breeze starts to tickle my nose, my heart starts to tickle for the first time. It seems like I have a hay fever on my heart. It is begining of my 4th grade year, but I do not really need to worry about making a new friend, because in my elementary school everyone's friend each other. Eui is one of my new friend that I met in 4th grade. He is tall as a redwood. His eye is really round like as clock, but when I see his cute face I feel like all the clocks in the world are not working at all. My eye become camera when I see him. I only focused at him, accordingly everyone is blurry except him. His smile for me makes my heart tickle. Naturally, we also start to hang out after school. While I am waiting for him in front of my apartment smelling a fragrant spring breeze I start to concern about him. I could not hide my feeling anymore. I want to say that I like him as much as size of the galaxy. CLANGING CLANGING, he appeared around the corner riding his bicycle. Bicycle wheels turns fast like as he is in hurry like Eui does. Once he saw me he starts to smiling at me while shaking hand with other hand that he is not holding a handle. His smile for me makes my heart tickle.
