The tenth episode of season four of the show Buffy the Vampire Slayer is known as one of the most interesting episodes of the show’s entire screening. Over many years of its showtime, Buffy has gained tremendous popularity. The show gained credibility throughout the years since the pilot episode in 1997 and was even nominated for an Emmy. The episode “Hush” includes an occasional antagonist who are formerly known as “The Gentlemen” who take the voices of Sunnydale. Although the entire show is known for its witty dialogue, this episode has very minimum lines of actual speech. This choice of plot creates a cliché theme for the episode. The theme is “Actions speak louder than words.” “Hush” however was much different from the classic Buffy formula and took the fans of the show by surprise. In the episode “Hush,” the theme is ironic because the characters deal with their problems more efficiently through their actions than their words.
Buffy Summers and Riley Finn are one of many pairs of companions on the show. Buffy and Riley communicate more when they cannot speak than when they have the ability to speak. Within their early lines of dialogue, tension builds between the two when neither could formally speak to one another about their feelings. However, when they lose their voices during the rising conflict of the episode, they part with a silent kiss.
