Building a strong faith community is the primary mission of St. Timothy Catholic School. Consequently, administrators and teachers work together to provide students with formal religious education, enriched with faith-centered activities and assignments. Through such activities as sacramental preparation, saint reports, and devotions to Mary, students are encouraged to learn about their faith, develop a deep and personal relationship with Jesus, and spread the good news. Furthermore, as primary educators of their children, parents are welcome to participate in the school faith community. Most notably, St. Timothy School parents developed the “Mary’s Corner” component of the school website. Contributing to the Catholic identity, Mary’s Corner is a parent created and maintained blog on faith-filled activities, and other information that helps parents stay connected to the faith community.
The St. Timothy School Infiorata To foster and enhance the faith community, St. Timothy Catholic School held an Infiorata. Traditionally, Infiorata is a flower art festival held in Italy, among other countries, as a prelude to the feast of Corpus Christi. In this centuries old tradition, townspeople throughout Italy work through the night on Saturday, to cover the streets with religious images depicted using only flower petals. On Sunday morning, in celebration of the feast of Corpus Christi, the bishop carries the Blessed Sacrament in procession, walking on the flower carpet.
My desire to work in the Catholic School system stems primarily from the ability to share my faith openly in such an environment, however, the Catholic School’s focus on the growth of the whole person, spiritual and academic and its commitment to service in the community and the world are also very important to me.
Faith in Christ has given me a unique life filled with optimism and purpose. From a young age, I have been raised in a home where I was taught about the love of Christ. Not only at home did I learn about Christ, but at school and at church. Thus, my life has been filled with experiences that have amplified my faith. For example, when my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, I found that my relationship with Christ grew. Through all of the difficult circumstances that I have faced, faith in Christ has given me the encouragement that I need to persevere through any situation. The word “Christian” in Colorado Christian University is more than just a belief shared amongst the Faculty and Student Body. It is the foundation on which all aspects of the educational experience are built. Beginning with a strong Statement of Faith, which aligns with core beliefs of the National Association of Evangelicals, the University proclaims its belief “in the Bible as being the only authoritative Word of God, that God exists in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, as well as belief in the salvation and resurrection that is only found in Christ Jesus” (Statement of Faith at Colorado Christian University, n.d.).
Pope Francis once said, “An education in the fullness of humanity should be the defining feature of Catholic schools.” To me, this sentiment sums up why a Catholic education is so important for many reasons. I have attended many different types of schools: public, private, Catholic and homeschool as a result of my father’s career in the military. However, only my experiences at Catholic schools provide me with a truly well-rounded education because, at Catholic schools, I receive the opportunity to learn about the amazing gift of God’s love every day during school hours. I love studying Scripture and seeing ways in which God is present in our lives. Faith and reason can be viewed as opposites. Faith is an element of belief, something an individual does not necessarily require a reason for accepting without reason. For example, an individual’s reason for believing in God may not seem too rational when they are trying to explain them. They may not even stand up to criticism. On the other hand, reason is constructed as a formula. Faith is basically something we believe in, like something we learn in church. Reason is something we learn in school, such as a math formula.

Millions of children are waiting to be adopted by a family from the ages of 2 months old until they are released at the age of eighteen. Many of these children have little to no known affiliation or influence of religion. Christ Community Church had interacted with more than sixty outside organizations to help raise financial aid and encourage religious influence in adoptive and pre adoptive families of orphans. The Christ Community Church builds its credibility with the information it provides and the organizations that are affiliated, using a strong appeal to emotion by showing helpless orphans, the ad also provides a logical appeal by giving background information about the organization providing a website for further information.
