In the introduction, Emdin includes a tragedy that occurred to a victim of bullying; “...the death of Jamey Rodemeyer, a teenager from Buffalo, NY who committed suicide after being bullied by classmates, the nation has once again become re-awakened to the fact that this issue, which flooded the media a year ago with the death of Rutgers student Tyler Clementi, is not going away anytime soon” (Emdin). By including this in his article, Emdin captures the audience’s attention by showing just how big of a problem bullying is. Children are taking their own lives because they can’t handle the bullying. This inclusion is a good transition into the rest of Emdin’s article. The basis is to get the audience's attention and cause them to make a change to the problem at
Bullying, often labeled as just a part of growing up, is a major problem in America’s schools today. Although it is such a hot topic in our country right now, it is also a long ignored problem that only seems to worsen. The complication with bullying is that no one quite understands it, and it is not taken seriously. The definition of bullying is an overbearing person who habitually badgers and intimidates smaller or weaker people. In more simple terms, bullying is not a onetime incident; it is repetitive and happens among individuals when there is an imbalance of power. Statistically, every one in six children are bullied, and this cannot continue to take place. Every child has the right to feel safe and have the pursuit of being happy in which bullying completely takes those rights away.

It is clear that the subject is the movement to abolish bullying, but the speaker of the movie can be broad. In Bully, Lee Hirsch uses as rhetorical questions and imagery as well as appeal to pathos, ethos, and logos. In Bully, Hirsch uses rhetorical questions throughout the movie to provoke the emotions of the viewers, which forces the audience to reflect on the cause of bullying. It also makes the audience associate themselves to the victims of bullying and ask themselves what they would do in that situation. Overall, strengthening Hirsch's argument that bullying is a universal issue and it needs to be recognize our actions as a society and accept everyone for who they

In “Phoebe Prince: Should School Bullying Be a Crime?”, an article written by journalist Jessica Bennet addresses school bullying, the outcomes and the consequences that bullies deserve or not. Above all, this article aims the spotlight on bullying, a 15-year-old who took her own life due to harassment, torment, rumors, physical threats all leading it to being bullied by well-known good students. In any case, the process of being bullied has never been taken into consideration nor importance in the school system or by society in general. “It’s even gotten better over the past decade says Dan Olweus, a leading bullying expert”. However, bullying just does not disappear, it is still an issue that humankind does not have any diligence to the cause
Issue: If you or your child have ever been a victim of bullying then you know how horrible one can feel. There are many emotions and fears associated with bullying, and no one should have to be subjected to it. Bullying can have a lasting effect not only in one’s present life but their future as well. Bullying is very prominent in schools today, and there has been an increase in school shootings, which is the extreme reaction to being bullied. Children need to consider each other’s feelings before they decide to bully or pick on each other.
She holds a straightforward approach when stating from the beginning of the essay that her son receives several punishments from school as a result of his bullying. Her explanation allows readers to relate to the topic and piece together the facts presented in order to fully comprehend the meaning of the essay. On the contrary, Giese selectively provides evidence and statistics that prove her side of the debate and fails to mention the positive side of anti-bullying hysteria. The author purposely excludes cases in which bullied children acquire depression and commit suicide since the bullies are not properly disciplined. This selectivity reveals that some evidence proving against her argument exists and that in many cases punishing the bullies is more important than researching what motivates them to do
Bullying is defined as the prolonged malicious act of harming peers by abusing their own--or an existing imbalance of--power, and has become one of the most common sources of trauma among adolescents. One report shows that one of three children were victims of bullying during some point in their life, and that 10-14% of all adolescents were victims of chronic bullying for at least six months prior to participating in the survey. Children who were victims of bullying are also found to be at a higher risk of diagnoses for anxiety disorders and depression during young and middle adulthood. These victims are reported to be more likely to have lower levels of general/physical health, and lower educational acquirements than young and middle-aged adults who were not bullied (Wolke & Lereya, 2015). Because bullying is such a prominent problem, citizens, policymakers, and social scientists alike, should feel or have some social and moral obligation to address, and hopefully avert bullying. The state of bullying, and how it is enacted, is constantly changing and adapting to social frameworks. Because bullies can adapt to social changes and regulations, we, as a society, should be equally adaptive in how we perceive, address, prevent, and punish bullying.
Many people fear that the impending induction of the president-elect into office will erase efforts to decrease bullying. Since Donald Trump’s election as president, hate crimes have piqued, not only in adult society, but also on high school and college campuses.
The truth is, life isn’t fair; so stop saying it is. “You get what you get, and don’t throw a fit.” In my opinion, that phrase is absolute crap. Most of the time, you get what you get because people are inconsideret, self centered pricks. They only think about themselves and not the feelings of others. One of the biggest lies I have ever heard “I’m sorry.” Are you? Are you really sorry? Or are you just saying that so I won’t hate you and you get a bad name? Yeah, exactly. Another lie I have been told, “This school does not tolerate bullying.” Or “We are a bully free zone.” Well, when someone get’s bullied and it’s turned in what do you do? Oh, you talk to the kid and hope it never happens again? Yeah, because that’s going to teach
To bully is to use strength and power to intimidate or harm the ones who are weaker. In the documentary “Bully”, directed by Lee Hirsch, the theme of the film is how many teachers and parents actually do not know what is happening in the lives of the children that they care for. However, there are also so many children who are hesitant to tell anyone that they are being bullied. The film follows the lives of several children who are faced with bullying every day. This film also follows parents whose children have committed suicide. Their lives had become intolerable and no one noticed or someone noticed and they did nothing too late. There are teachers and administrators who are clueless as to what is happening and some just flat out do not want to
Bullying has become a major issue in the United States and around the world. What brought the attention to people about bullying is the number of suicides that are committed by adolescents and the stories they share online or live television. Bullying is categorized to be direct verbal, direct physical, and indirect forms. Not every person has an idea how terrible bullying can be and how harmful it is to the victim. Bullying has driven students to commit actions they have never done before such as cutting themselves, suicidal thoughts, health disorders, and bad behavior. Bullying must be taken seriously, because it results in negative effects on its victims and may drive students to commit horrific actions. Lawmakers should draft anti-bullying legislation, students should stand up for one another, and society should work out what can be done to combat this problem.
The central idea of the articles is that people believe bullying is a problem and to overcome bullying. Is that people must come together to find ways to stop, and you can learn from others and who they experienced being bullied and they can learn from others. People tell their stories to others so they could relate and probably stand up for something that is right. Other people who have been bullied let it overcome them and they will be overwhelmed. Others speak out so the bullying would stop and show people that haven't bullied or people that are bullies that words hurt and they are more powerful then others think words can be. Stand up for something thats right for the people can stop bulling and to stop disrespecting because the truth is
Anti-bullying can help sustain bullying prevention efforts over time. You can do activities like creativity writing such as a poem speaking out against bullying or a story or
In the past ten years there has been an increased stress on schools to recognize bullying an issue. Some schools are implementing anti-bullying programs and schools are hoping the programs will be effective. Schools, teachers, staff, students and parents need to realize that bullying is not going to go away over night, but each program students learn will help them become more accepting and empathetic.
