One of my most loathed singers, Taylor Swift, once stated, “If they don 't like you for being yourself, be yourself even more.” However, in Erin Murphy’s ‘White Lies’, this is not the case for young Connie, who was a quiet albino girl, new to Arpi’s school. Regardless of her desperate efforts to be accepted by her classmates, they were not warming up to her. Taking action, her mother helped Connie figure out a way to make her classmates talk to her and like her. I agree with her mother’s decision to help her daughter, even if it wasn’t the truth. Bullying is becoming an increasingly important problem for parents, school administrators and teachers on a vast scale.

Overall, strengthening Hirsch's argument that bullying is a universal issue and it needs to be recognize our actions as a society and accept everyone for who they
Oftentimes, a deciding factor for a president’s reputation is his involvement in foreign affairs. Though Richard Nixon’s terms have been deservedly cast into a bad light, historians still quarrel about his international policy. Interestingly enough, the very traits which made him so despised as a public officer—his paranoia, lying, backstabbing, distrust, opacity, etc.—these traits made him an fascinating figure on the global stage. Instituting a policy coined “détente,” he sought separate peaces with the Soviet Union and China so as to subversively convert these communist foes into allies. He also wished to bring “peace with honor” to the Vietnam War through a practice nicknamed “Vietnamization.” To accomplish these two tasks, Nixon consolidated them under a single goal: the reduction of military spending. To accomplish that goal, President Richard Nixon relied on the dirty tactics he knew best and almost succeeded. The problem? His dirty tactics got in the way.

The abuse that Carrie experienced from her mother, that started at such a young age – the day she was born, impedes upon normal psychosocial development in an adolescent. When examining Erikson’s Theory of Psychosocial Development, Carrie missed a couple of stages, this is obvious to any person that is familiar with the theory. In Erikson’s first stage, “Trust Versus Mistrust, it is essential that the child’s caretaker provides proper compassion, love, and care to the child” (Psych^5, pg. 244). Carrie’s mother hasn’t successfully delivered the proper care required to allow a child to flourish. Margaret attempted to take Carrie’s life on a couple of occasions, proving she was unfit from the beginning. For example, in the very first scene of the movie Margaret attempted to kill Carrie with a pair of scissors, she didn’t go through with it, and later said that she was weak for not giving Carrie to God. Due to all of the traumatic events Carrie has been through, she has failed the Trust Versus Mistrust stage. She is unable to trust her own mother, and when she was asked to the prom, she believed she was being tricked, the
Bullying is an emerging issue that many teenagers and children experience, they endure harassing behaviours from their peers, primarily at school. Mean Girls, directed by Mark Waters and Bully, directed by Lee Hirsch are both effective in their own ways, as they display the causes and effects of being taunted. Although there are many similarities in the messages of the films, they differ in delivery. Mean Girls shows a less conspicuous perspective of bullying, on the other hand, Bully educates the more expected definition.
Nursing theories that incorporate the theoretical framework from non-nursing disciplines are known as borrowed theories. According to McEwen and Wills (2014), “borrowed theories or practice theories can readily be used to describe and explain phenomena that affect nursing and concluded that to limit nurses to using only nursing theories in nursing research is shortsighted” (p. 444). Borrowed theories can be derived from physiology, psychology, sociology, and education disciplines. Electrosurgical and laser surgeries have created a problem within the operating room related to surgical smoke. Lewin’s Change Theory is a borrowed theory that stems from a psychological discipline and can be used to help with the given problem.
