The weakness is now evident; the agent will have to compete with already established agents and agencies to convince players and their parents that they are the better sports management firm than the competition. This is a hard task to overcome when many of today’s players are signed to one of five major agencies. Opportunities: Opportunities will come knocking at the door as soon as the first player is signed to the agency and an NHL contract. As soon as the first player signs, it will become a snowball effect and the company will be on the radar. The entry level salary of player for the 2010-2011 season is $900,000, meaning the agency will receiving 3-4% ($27,000-36,000) a year for having that player signed to the agency. If the snowball effect works, then if in a year, nine more players sign, you will see ten times the revenue. After three years of an entry level contract, the player will most likely be making upwards of $2 million, which would be a gross income of $600,000-800,000, given NWA has 10 players with contracts valued at over $2 million per player. Additionally, once a player has reached the NHL level, the agent or marketing half of the company should pursue endorsement and sponsorship contracts for their client. The percentage the agency would receive is between 17.5-25% of the endorsement deal.
