At the heart of legislation is the recognition that everyone has a responsibility for health and safety in the workplace. 2. Explain the purpose of following health, safety and security procedures in a business environment. Health, safety and security procedures clarify ‘who’ is responsible for ‘what’. This ensures that an organisation has a structure to ensure a secure, safe and healthy business environment for everyone. As a manager, you have a legal responsibility to your staff/team members and violating these regulations could result in legal action against you as an individual, potentially resulting in heavy fines.
