‘Business Intelligence Balanced Scorecard’ product by Medstreaming Inc Abstract This paper highlights viability of having a new product offering by Medstreaming Company namely a Business Intelligence Balanced Scorecard specifically designed for the healthcare sector. Focus of the study is on identifying the appropriate measurement metrics for the balanced scorecard. The project has added knowledge to the critical issues which need to be addressed by the healthcare organizations in implementing the Business Intelligence Balanced Scorecard product within the system. This project also discusses the benefits which the proposed business intelligence tool once implemented in a healthcare organization can provide for all hierarchical levels of the organization. Introduction Research studies indicate that a good proportion of adverse safety events can be prevented in hospitals globally by deploying effective business intelligence tools which can capture the reasons for occurrence of such events in a quantitative manner. It has been reported that approximately 70,000 healthcare mishaps within the operational domain of the leading hospitals within Canada could have been avoided by using appropriate metrics (Ferrand and Amyot, 2010). Besides safety aspect, it has been seen that with growing corporatization of the healthcare sector, the enterprises’ operational management is being induced to maximize the returns from the available resources (both man and material).
