Date: Date you turn in your report Subject: Report name The childhood obesity issue has become so prominent that First Lady Obama has adopted childhood obesity as her pet project and has sworn to end it within a generation (USA Today. (2/9/2010). To that end and to assist her, Unite against Obesity, recognizing the prevalence of pediatric obesity in our own community has decided to launch series of programs and well-researched interventions that will target guardians and children at risk in our community.
Review studies on the efficacy of interventions (e.g. Boon & Clysedale (2005) indicate that most childhood obesity interventions produce only meager results, creating the need for better well-researched and more effective programs that are catered towards a specific age and ethnic as well as socio-economic class structure. This is where we come in premising our programs on coherent and reliable research and developing instruments to measure the impact of our programs and closely monitor change.
Programs that we introduce include competitions and workshops that make weight-loss both competitive and fun. Part of our entrepreneurial and innovative designs will be convenience machines that will offer healthy fast food for schools at competitive prices.
