Most of the Pros of having an accredited program appear to be well known. Accreditation is a “feather in one’s cap” because it is a “conferring of an honours degree” in the field. Accreditation states that the program has been peer evaluated and found “worthy”. Accreditation allows the program to be more visible in an honorable manner to other professionals in the same field, to allied professionals, and also to the outside “hiring” world. Programs that are accredited attract highly qualified faculty and students than programs that are not accredited. Accredited programs typically conduct routine “housecleaning”, in the form of a “Self Study”, to ensure that the program maintains its quality. The Self Study forms the core of the documentation used by evaluators from the accredited body when conducting a site visit for the purposes of
Coopera noted the importance of having their bilingual staff to develop a trusted relationship with all of their members.
I wish to be considered for an assignment as the Lieutenant within the C.A.L.E.A. Unit, Planning Bureau, Administration Section, Administration Branch. The C.A.L.E.A. Unit has the fundamental responsibility of ensuring the Division's continued compliance with the accrediting agency. There are several important characteristics that must be employed in order to fulfill its mission. I believe my current role as the Division M.A.P.P.S Coordinator has provided me with a firm foundation to transition into the role of Lieutenant in the C.A.L.E.A. Unit.
(Paoline, Eugene A. III; Terrill, William; Rossler, Michael T. (2015) pg. 51) One of these being believe or bias system. According to a study done it was found that college educated officers were found to be “more open minded in their believe systems, less punitive minded, less authoritarian, more accepting of ethical issues, and more favorably oriented toward legal restrictions and more discretionary oriented”. (Paoline, Eugene A. III; Terrill, William; Rossler, Michael T. (2015) pg. 53) Something else that was found was a correlation between higher education and use of force. It was found by Rydberg Jason, Terrill William (2010) “that higher educated officers not only resorted to using force less often but, that they also were less likely to discharge their weapon. “officers with a college degree were more than 41% less likely to discharge their firearms than officers with a high school diploma or some college but no degree”. (pg. 99) In a world like today with everyday something being on the news and making it so that I cannot go two seconds while looking at Facebook to seeing something about police, shootings and racial issues making the qualifications to be a police officer at least, an entry level one changing from a high school diploma to at least an associate’s degree if not a bachelors would make things better.
The organization that created and outlined this informational source was The Child Apraxia of Speech Association of North America (CASANA). CASANA is a nonprofit, publicly funded charity. Their mission is to encourage and expand the knowledge of the support systems of the children whose lives have been affected by childhood apraxia of speech (CAS). The organization hopes to give opportunities for the families of these children, so they can be given the best chances to improve speech and communication. Having had major growth from when the organization began as an online discussion group, in 2000, CASANA can now proudly flaunts their evolution to being considered a reliable national public charity. Being a reference for many families, CASANA
There is a great debate over the question of whether American law enforcement has achieved the status of a profession. In order to answer this question, there is a need to define what a profession is and identify the requisite attributes that qualifies an occupation to be identified as a profession. Criminal justice administrators have been actively pursuing professionalization for their chosen vocation while police researchers have been making recommendations which require increasing levels of higher education and an expanded college curricula for law enforcement service (Carter, Sapp, & Stephens, State of Police Education: Policy Direction for the 21st Century, 1989). However, it seems that part of the challenge of professionalization is the lack of general understanding of the concept. Professionalization occurs when an occupation ceases to be irregular in operation and transforms itself by "…the development of formal qualifications based upon education, apprenticeship, and examinations, the emergence of regulatory bodies with powers to admit and discipline members, and some degree of monopoly rights." (Bullock & Trombley, 1999, p. 689).
Should police officers be required to have at least a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice? (A)
I plan to obtain a Bachelors in criminal justice from Arizona State University. My plan in order to obtain this degree is to participate in a program called the ninety-thirty program. The ninety-thirty program is a program offered at Estrella Mountain Community College to help students save money towards their degree at a community college credit hour rate vs. a university. Once I have completed my ninety credits, I will then transfer to ASU through another pathway program known as MAPP to finish my remaining thirty credits to obtain my Bachelors in criminal justice. Upon receiving my degree my ultimate goal is to protect and serve the community and help victims of violence. I want to show the community that there are a majority of police officers who care about their community and the people who reside
In a study, the authors examined the effect of TUDCA in an invivo animal model of acute pancreatitis. TUDCA was known to inhibit UPR invitro, but its activity was not evaluated invivo.Caerulein was used to induce acute panceatitis and the UPR components like chaperone binding protein (BiP), phosphorylated protein kinase-like ER kinase (pPERK), X-box binding protein (XBP1),phosphorylated c-Jun NH2-terminal kinase (pJNK), CCAAT/enhancer binding protein homologues protein, and caspase 12 and 3 activation were analyzed. Caerulein-induced BiP upregulation, reduced XBP-1 splicing, and caspase 12 and 3 activation was also prevented by TUDCA. Cytoprotective effects including pPERK signaling and activation of downstream targets and the downregulation
There is a continuing problem of innovation in rural health delivery in country of Republica. This Central American country is comprised around 16 Million people. It is a mountainous country with indigenous people accounting for 43% of the population. Of these indigenous people, 91% live in extreme poverty. Should police officers have a more proficient education? Most agencies enforced police officers to have a high school diploma or GED at a minimum, all though some agencies require a bachelor's degree for a more advanced position especially those at a federal level. I agree that law enforcement officers should required to earn at least a bachelor's degree before serving.
“A delicate relationship exists between the federal government (and eligibility for federal funding). state government (and its responsibilities for establishing or chartering institutions credentialing individuals through certification or licensure), and voluntary membership associations (which require accreditation for membership)” (Altbach, Gumport, and Berdahl, 2011, p. 212).
Universities must also be accredited by the Council for Higher Education and the U.S. Department of Education.
Hi Melanie, great post, easy to read and informative. It’s great to see the important points for the CCNE and CNEA presented in the way you did. According to E. Keavney the majority of facilities that offer a Master’s Program will not consider eligible students if their degree wasn’t obtained from an accredited facility. (Keavney, 2012). Looking back to when I was choosing a college for my BSN, didn’t consider accreditation. But I did choose a college that was prestigious and close to commute to.
