Events in my life that will influence my academic work and goals as a student at CCU are, being a healthcare provider and phlebotomist for the past eight years. The other would be my struggles growing up with a single mother who battled depression until the end at the age of 51 years old. I will start with my childhood my parents divorced when I was 8 my mom had battled depression and suicide as long as I could remember, seeing her struggle in and out of hospitals and doctors offices being denied care because she did not have health insurance coverage. She did see a family doctor I felt she never truly cared or listened to my mother’s pain or needs. Dr. Palmer’s idea of treating her was by prescribing medication after medication and sending …show more content…
Two things she taught all three of us girls were to love unconditionally and to put God first, it is He that will see us through all our trials and triumph she would say. Amongst Satan’s many attacks I always admired her faith it was never weakened. I thank her for those two things that’s all we need in life, all of us are all her to love and to be loved no matter the negative affects society has on us or all the trials we are put through. Looking around there is always beauty around us we cannot let the bad things consume our happiness or who we are as individuals, this is something you have to mentally train yourself for believe me it took me 28 years and I am just now realizing it. After seeing the struggles, pain and suffering my mother went through; I always knew I’m going to work in healthcare and make sure that my patients never get treated like she was treated. I knew I was going to care for people and help my patients in every way that I can, making a difference in their …show more content…
Enrolling at a community college I went to school for ten months full time completing my medical assisting diploma at Westwood College with a 4.0 GPA, inducted into the national Dean’s list, and perfect attendance I graduated. Starting out as a phlebotomist at Denver Health Hospital then moved onto medical assisting positions. Currently I hold a position as a lead medical assistant at an internal medicine doctor’s office in Highlands Ranch. I have been at this office for two years I enjoy every day that I go to work. I work with one doctor and two other medical assistants who I can also call my friends, we all three share the duties of front and back office. The duties include EKG, phlebotomy, injections, suture removal, vital statistics, urine dips, INR, assisting in female gynecology exams, phone triage, faxing, medical records, billing, calling in prescriptions, charting. All these duties are way more duties than what the RN for the other doctor that we share office space does on a daily basis. So every day I tell myself why not go to back to school so I can get my BSN and get credit for all my hard work and this is why I am applying to CCU’s BSN
At first I was not sure what I should put, but then when I starting thinking about it, it came pretty easily. However I did have a difficult time thinking about what I can’t change because I try not to focus on that.

English class has never been my strong suite. I always had to work twice as hard in English then I did in any other class. Writing paper always had me stressed and overwhelmed, I felt discouraged in my work. l never seemed to be able to get to the level I wanted to. I would try my hardest and paid attention in class, but when it came to writing the paper none of that seemed to help. I think that my experience in English Composition 1 has helped gain and grow in some areas, but I don’t think that it highlights a well-written college essay. Some elements that I worked to improving was introduction paragraphs, tone, style, and thesis statements.
I am attending GCU to improve my education and myself and to achieve my goals for the future.

I can see Texas Christian University as a great fit for me because it offers so much for me to grow as a students. I can see myself attending the Academic Services offered by TCU in order for me to become a better students and go for help. At Haverford I would find myself using their academic help services, asking teachers questions and go for extra help. TCU also offers its students a wide variety of major and minors to choose from. Business is an interest of mine and TCU offers a great business program. But if I was not to go down that path TCU would allow me to find a new major or minor to choose.
This essay is a reflective essay on my learning development from a young age through to my current position as a University Student. I will be relating my learning development back to two theories of human development, Vygotstsky’s socio-cultural theory and Marcia’s version of Erikson’s theory of identity development. I will identify and discuss the challenge I have faced with my identity and how this has impacted on my development.
What really motivated me to enroll at GCU was a couple things. I was in the process of applying to a different college, and something just wasn’t feeling right. The process wasn’t going smooth at all. The enrollment advisor called me numerous time a day and the over the phone interview felt fake. As I got off the phone with her, I thought I would research my degree more. I googled Bachelors in Science with Business Management and Grand Canyon was one of the links. I had taken a previous class long time ago with GCU when I was pursing my BSN. I had remembered that all my previous prerequisites were on file. After more research on GCU another thing that convinced me was no out of state tuition. That is a big perk. Online classes are my only option

I am slightly taken aback by your comment: "I did not think it was of a high enough standard for us to be able to accept you on the Access course."
Since beginning to write papers in English class, I have had countless successes and failures. While many of my English classes have taught me how to improve my writing, I have not learned very much in others. My most recent English class was last year, my sophomore year. My class was particularly undersized; therefore, it gave each student the opportunity to have additional individual attention. Throughout the class I experienced high points, weaknesses, and even difficulties that I never overcame. Overall, my writing skills improved, but only marginally.
