After 3 weeks of being part of the ESW, I experienced a preview of how Cal State Northridge would be like when school officially starts. We were all challenges in 4 assignments to test our writing skills. At first, I thought it would be a difficult time since I am taking classes at CSUN. However, this taught me to think ahead and prepared me for when school officially starts. Working on an assignment that requires you to have 500-words is not as hard as it would be. It certainly was not my first time writing a 500-word essay but was pressured considering I must go to CSUN for my summer math classes. Furthermore, there were 2 test that worried me. After doing some thinking, I realized that I was not going to have time for the essay, so I decided
Foley contends that in addition to blocking discovery, the Five-Paragraph Essay formula squelches the student's authenticity. Foley states, "filling the structure with the requisite 500 words, they go through the motions of writing, but they seldom create something authentically theirs," (232). Foley knew that students feel much more at liberty to freely express themselves in their personal journals and in their letters to friends, but take on a different identity for the essay. The students' character, personality, and convictions are locked away until given the opportunity to free write.
One of the interesting facts about these videos to me is that University of Phoenix produced and used challenge coin without the approval from the military just to trick veterans to believe that Department of Defense has looked and examined that organization and authorized them in some way to provide them with the
I would like to express my strong desire to be part of the Heritage Hall team which prides itself in values and ethics to learn, to lead and to serve. The more I have learned about the tradition of Heritage Hall, I have discovered the learning institution’s values and ethics are facilitated through teaching ingenuity, diversity, courage and compassion to serve the community. These core ethos are directly in line with my personal beliefs. Numerous discussions with people associated with Heritage Hall throughout the community have proven the schools prideful tradition. Especially, Jimmika and Jacquelyn Wolf whom truly embody the school’s spirit and ethos in every faucet of their personal and professional lives.
Throughout my schooling at Nashua-Plainfield I have taken initiative in many ways. I was apart of the student council, FCCLA treasure, and was the captain on my softball team. I felt I learned the most about being a leader in softball. In softball I felt as if there was two ways to be a leader, on the field, and off the field in the dugout. I was a leader in the filed, by talking. Talking is a major part of softball. You constantly have to be aware about where the ball is and what you are going to do with it if it comes to you. You need to talk about where the runners are and what the plays are depending on where the ball is. I was a leader in the dugout by picking my teammates up. It’s hot, your loosing, you just struck out, your awesome drive
“Columbine” by Dave Cullen presented me with a vast array of knowledge and insight into an incident which I had minimal knowledge of. What very little knowledge I had came from exposure to the incident through classroom discussions from years past, and occasional references to Columbine through media vectors such as television and music.
Before I started to attend South Carolina Connections Academy, I was enrolled at Dutch Fork High School. I enjoyed going to school so that I could talk to some of my friends and go to the classes that I liked. Even though my grades at Dutch Fork High School were good, they could have been better if I was not so focused on the social aspect of high school. Enrolling at South Carolina Connections Academy, or SCCA, allowed me to work on school in an environment where I could not get distracted. All my attention was on my school work. This allowed me to earn better grades than I had been earning before. SCCA also taught me how to identify my weakness in courses and how to best strengthen them. I learned to appreciate the time I had in ‘class’
I have made some mistakes in the past regarding my academic career, but from those mistakes I have learned what works best for me in a learning setting and how to push past the adversities that get in the way of reaching my goals. I have not allowed my mistakes to define me rather I have used them to mold myself into a stronger individual and student. I hope that you do not see me for my past mistakes but instead see me for what I can and will accomplish in the future as a Florida
I feel just as right now, this was not the time or the spot for Spelman College to have wiped out an occasion managing wellbeing concerns. Jackie Donahue life was in question here, and there was a probability of discovering a contributor here in Atlanta, GA. Jackie was relying upon somebody in this world to be a benefactor, so that way she could be carry on with her life and keeps on meeting expectations and bring up her youngsters. All as a result of an express feature that was discharged before that week by her sibling, Nelly, Spelman chose they would not like to host the occasion any longer.
I am so thankful that the University of Mississippi allows their education students to be able to experience something like this before we actually go to a school. I have been told that Teach Live cost a lot for the University. I have learned how to communicate better, how to properly dress, how to address an issue in the classroom, and how to look at the students instead of the wall. I hope the University of Mississippi continues to let the students experience Teach Live because it is an experience I will never forget.
The first thing that came up to my mind while writing this reflection paper, is to read the personal statement, which I have wrote while applying for Texas A&M two years ago. I wanted to know what was the real motivation behind my choice and how did it change after completing one year of studying urban planning at Texas A&M. Besides, comparing between my previous and current perspectives will help me understand how Homan readings reinforced or changed my beliefs. My first semester at Bowie State University has been very rewarding. I have been able to meet amazing professors who are always willing to answer any questions that I have. Even though some classes were difficult, I enjoyed learning about assessment, research, ethics and learning about the role of a school psychologists in the counties around Bowie. I enjoyed shadowing a school psychologist at Montgomery County. It was amazing to learn about different roles of assessment and intervention in the Head Start/Pre-K, elementary, middle and high school. As for assessment, I am impressed at the fact that I understand the WISC-V. I was frustrated at first because I could not understand it. However, now I have more confidence in
I am one of the Dual Diploma students in SUNY New Paltz. I am junior student and my major is economics. When I graduate, I would stay in the States for my business purposes. I would like also do my MBA in the USA. During this technical writing course, we had three assignments. The assignments that we did were related to changes in immigration patterns in the USA. Letter to Turkey, Visualizing economics, Visualizing Immigration and Oral Presentation were our assignments. The purpose of this course was to improve our writing abilities and reflecting our critical thinking on the visual data mostly related to the economics. The first writing project was the "Letter to Turkey" which we sent a letter about the Immigration Ban for seven Muslim countries.
Although I have only spent two semesters at Mississippi State, I have already grown to love my experience here. My ability to attend this year was made possible thanks to the generosity of these scholarships. My family is also grateful for the support, as there are three of us (Parrish siblings) in
On March 10, 2017, I boarded a plane bound for San Francisco amid the hustle and bustle of spring break travel traffic. However, this was no regular spring break vacation, filled with relaxation and carefree experiences. In fact, I was only going to be the Golden City for thirty-six hours, and I was on my way to the national conference being held by the National Association of Community College Teacher Education Programs. As one of their two national scholarship recipients for the 2016-2017 school year, I was invited to attend the conference in order to publically accept my scholarship and was encouraged to attend any panels I wished. As suggested by the name of the organization, the conference was centered on community college education programs and teaching in general. When I arrived on Friday, the only event being held was a networking reception, where I met individuals from various community colleges around the nation. However, Saturday was a much more eventful day, with my spending eight hours at the conference.
Before Andover, wellness was easily attainable and could be maintained throughout the school year with ease. I tried my hardest in my classes, was involved in extracurricular activities, and most importantly, I could take break if and when I needed it. Similar to other students, academics and activities were a prominent part of my life; however, my health and happiness always took precedent over anything else in my life. But I, like many other students, quickly realized that the importance and value of my health and well-being weren’t deemed as significant upon matriculating to Andover. Now, how I perform in my classes and what I do after school is somehow more important than how am feeling. Given the current and continuing state of stress and infirmity that most Andover students are in, I think Andover needs to place more concern on the health and well-being
