Fresno is the 35th largest city in the world, and the 5th largest city in California. Fresno is also the largest city in the Central Valley. There are many different areas of Fresno that provide potential expansion space for corporations looking for a new plant location. Fresno has access to light manufacturing and large industrial warehouses, and the land is suitable for many businesses’ needs (wikepedia.com). Fresno County is also included in the Enterprise Zone (EZ). The EZ tax credit was created to create additional jobs and increase profitability for business owners through tax savings. This can save employers up to $37,440 per qualified employee (fredsnoedc.com). There are also many other tax credits and initiatives in place to encourage corporations to move to Fresno. We believe that Fresno should try to attract manufacturing firms, because it would really benefit employers and employees.
When selecting a corporation the main thing that is considered is the location that has the least expensive access to the needed inputs and outputs. This means that they will need access to any resources, like land, labor, capital, and entrepreneurship, and access to the output markets. Fresno is very capable to accommodate corporations because they do have access to all of these things.
