The documentary about the Californian Grim Sleeper presents the political corruption, substandard education, and apathy within impoverished communities. It portrays and analyzes how a community could allow for such crimes to take place. It shows that these problems are sustained through police corruption, absence of funding, and political embezzlement. These problems are exacerbated when the government does not pay attention to its own decomposing communities. Schools within these dilapidated communities do not receive adequate funding for the essential tools of education. As industrialization in America has advanced, technological innovation has advanced with it. It is now fully possible to connect an entire school to a server, and allocate resources to individual computers. With this technology, Administrators can create a moderately censored, yet safe learning environment for children on the internet. The age of textbook learning has been slowly dying since the birth of modern technology. The internet is the forefront of education. While well funded schools (private schools and public schools in affluent communities) have thoroughly embraced this institution, the schools within impoverished communities have yet to do this. When a school begins to wither due to its lack of innovation, its funding is slashed and it is left to slowly die. The opposite is observed with new schools, for they receive the majority of a countieś education funding. The quality of the workers produced from these impoverished schools corresponds greatly with the money allocated to said schools. When the members of a dilapidated and impoverished community are complacent with their current position within society, they are highly unlikely to see any positive change. To gain the attention of the government, one must care about improving oneś community.
