Rape is the Most Violent Crime that Happens on College Campuses.Sexual assault can be a very sensitive topic for many. Although this is a sensitive topic this doesn't mean we should avoid it. What is a sexual assault you many ask? Sexual assault is a sexual act in which a person is coerced or physically forced to engage in their will or non-consensual sexual touching of a person.In simpler words, it means that you are forced to engage in a sexual act that you haven't given consent to. There are many sources that tell us that rape is most likely to happen in your freshman year of college. An Ivy school is dealing with the same type of case. Emma Sulkowicz a victim of sexual assault explain the process of reporting an assault in an Ivy League. She explains that you might think because Columbia is one of top university attend you would think justice would be served fairly. Not in this case. It all started when Emma was assaulted on her first day in college as a sophomore. Emma decided not to deal with the problem because she wanted everything to be over with. Until she met two other girls in her same class that had gotten assaulted by the same person. They gathered together and they filed in reports stating their incidents. One of the main problems that Emma had was that her school counselor at the Gender-based and Sexual Misconduct did not gather the most important facts if the case making her case not valid or unbelievable according to the university.There was even a point throughout her case where they asked Emma if the type of rape she had experienced was possible.The university had dropped all three cases that girls had filed in. The school found a way to dismiss all three cases. Emma and twenty-two other students had decided to file in federal complaint report stating that the university had mishandled their sexual assault
