Can the Consumption of Oxygen Lead to Cellular Damages? Essay

672 Words 3 Pages
The consumption of oxygen that is incompletely used in the human body may lead to cellular damages. This can happen due to interaction of free radicals oxygen molecules with the certain problematic molecules in the body cell, such as toxins. Free radicals are made up of unpaired or odd numbers of electrons where it will exist as a reactive trouble maker toward the body cell by start a chain reaction of damage to healthy cells. This condition will stimulates and change the character and function of free radicals as they combine in unnatural ways, then causing a DNA and cellular damages simultaneously. Thus, the healthy cells will be function poorly or even die.

This condition will stimulates and change the character and function of free radicals as they combine in unnatural ways, then causing a DNA and cellular damages simultaneously. Thus, the healthy cells will be function poorly or even die.

Luckily, the body is fitted out with an antioxidant defense system. Antioxidant function rescue cells from being damaged by free radicals and stop a chain reaction of damage from continuing or even exist, by safely interact with the free radicals. There are plenty of enzymes working in antioxidant defense system. However, many of those protective free radical scavenging enzymes are supported by micronutrient minerals such as selenium and vitamins E, C, and beta-carotene. Micronutrient minerals is an essential nutrient that cannot be manufactured by the body at all thus must be obtained from a dietary sources (food intake) or supplements. There are many sources of food that have luxurious antioxidants properties.

First of all, as we know that the most sources of nutrient to prevent or cure a disease are coming from
