Background
Canada Post has been experiencing a loss of their revenue. Since electronic mailing and online billing use has increased, Canada Post has experienced a decline in lettermail delivery.
Canada Post is an established as Crown corporation since 1981. The postal service had been very profitable before technology use has become prevalent. With communication shifting to digital, Canada Post needs to change their business to remain profitable.
Letter delivery service is not popular as it once was. Canada Post has seen a steady loss in revenue since 2006. To survive and remain profitable, Canada Post needs to adjust. Despite revenue decreasing, the obligation to service increases as nearly 200 000 addresses are added each year.

Current Status
Canada Post needs to adapt to the modern digitalized environment. The Harper government had approved Canada Post’s five-year business plan on new changes.
The five-year business plan has come forward during the 2015 election. During the election, Trudeau made a campaign promise to leave the door-to-door delivery as it is.
After being elected, the Trudeau government has put Canada Post’s five-year business plan on hold. The new government has deliberated over their decision.
Trudeau government is preparing to launch a review process.
The federal government appointed a four-member independent panel to concur a formal review.
Parliamentary committee will also hear from Canadians by the end of 2016
The control over the business agenda is out Canada Post’s hand.

It is important that stakeholders like the Public Service Minister, Judy Foote stays in the loop with this goal. With an ongoing review of the postal service, it is important to look at market trends.
Consumer demand is critical especially since Canada Post is very customer service oriented. Engaging with stakeholder groups like residents is important.
Overall, improvement for residents is important. Working at the municipal level is necessary. With local engagement one regularly engages with local officials. In a situation such as implementing a community mailbox, information needs to be committed.
Measures of Success
Changes need to implementation. However, to ensure whether the strategies implemented are successful, it is important to measure and evaluate. Such measurements include:
Annual revenue acts as an indicator for Canada Post’s success. In recent years, there has been a decline. After implementing changes, it is important to monitor for an upwards change.
Positive customer reviews and rating is important. Through a survey, polling and consultation the corporation can engage with its
ING Direct Canada is facing back office capacity problems in handling new and existing accounts because of a successful direct mail campaign by the marketing department. Providing same day processing of new and existing accounts has become challenging for the operations department. This is resulting in cost overruns with increased overtime hours and errors for the employees. The main issues affecting the company are mailing room capacity shortages, variability in daily mail volume and budget, space and headcount constraints. The division with its current available options can improve the existing
In July 2009, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) listed the budget of the United States Postal Service as “high risk” and recommended oversight from Congress and the Executive Branch. Specifically, the GAO stated that “Amid challenging economic conditions and a changing business environment, USPS is facing a deteriorating financial situation in which it does not expect to cover its expenses and financial obligations in fiscal years 2009 and 2010” (“Restructuring”, 2009, pg. 1). The GAO claimed that the mail volume in 2009 would likely decrease by about 28 billion as compared to 2008 and that the USPS would likely see declining volumes for the next five years (“Restructuring”, 2009, pg. 1). Clearly, the USPS is currently facing a
Postal Service is facing a major financial crisis and imminent collapse due to new technologies coupled with national economic struggles that have led to an incredible drop in mail and postage revenue (USPS receives no money from taxes). On top of these revenue drops, the Postal Service is burdened with unfair and difficult financial obligations that were imposed by Congress. This dangerous combination has sent the Postal Service into an economic downward spiral.
Due to the rising popularity of email and the easiness of scanning documents, less and less mail is being sent every year and because of competitors like FedEx and UPS the United States Postal Service (USPS) is having financial problems. All over the world there has been sweeping postal reform. New Zealand moved to three day mail delivery, Canada eliminated home delivery in cities, and the United Kingdom recently privatized their mail system. The United States Postal office has been losing money and reported a loss of $15.9 billion dollars in 2012. The USPS has been increasing stamp prices to make up for this financial loss, most recently increasing stamp prices from forty-four cents to forty-five. With congressing blocking the latest USPS
In Daniel Stone’s editorial article, “Flying Like an Eagle”, he advises the USPS some guidance to boost up their profit and their usage to the community. One of his inputs on the
A Notice of Arbitration was served to the Government of Canada on April 19, 2000. Canada Post also provided access of their facilities and assets, such as their transportation vehicles for their subsidiaries to use. This helped to increase the reach and accessibility of the subsidiaries in Canada. The employees of the subsidiaries like the delivery men who transported and delivered the parcels, also received their salaries from Canada Post. Due to these benefits; Canada Post and its subsidiaries have a huge competitive advantage over their competitors, such as UPS, in the private sector (Notice of Intent, 2000). This is due to the lowered operating costs and availability of resources that the other companies did not have available to
centure found that diversification was a major key component to a successful postal organization, but unless the regulatory restraint is lifted, it cannot be done (Berthon, 2009).
If I were the current CEO for the United States Postal Service, I would be gravely concerned about the future of my business, as it has recently taken a steep plummet from its success and popularity in the 19th and 20th centuries. The USPS is now faced with the decision to renovate itself due to the extreme loss of business as technology takes over the 21st Century. Some say that the USPS should be entirely reconstructed because the business is only headed further downhill, while others say that paper mail is still very practical, more so than e-mail, and we must each write more letters to do our part in reviving the business to profitability again. Because the USPS has been such a vital part of our country through

Q1. How and why has the express mail industry structure evolved in recent years? How have the changes affected small competitors?
There has been an extreme decline in the mail delivered with a 13 percent drop in mail volume and loss of $3.8 billion (Source C). The USPS is losing money, and a very large significant amount. to continue to deliver, they have to make changes to how it is operated. Mailing services are active Monday through Saturday, simply cutting back one day of delivery will save the USPS a great amount of money. The most efficient day to cutoff delivery would be Saturday, simply waiting until Monday to receive Saturday can decrease the amount of money in which the USPS spends paying their workers that day. The cost of a stamp to send out mail is only 44 cents that price is a bargain, but not for the USPS (Source F). Although this price is very cheap to the consumer, it is very expensive to the USPS. They are not making any money for 44 cent stamps, if the price was just 10 cents higher they could cut back on how much money they are losing. Another way to meet the needs of a changing world is to offer coupons (Source A). People everywhere are looking to save money, by offering coupons you are expanding the USPS from just mailing. Although, Americans look for coupons online, the incentive of getting coupons through the mail will get the USPS delivering to more homes. The USPS should meet the needs of the changing world because businesses must evolve to
Corporate America and their use of propaganda Propaganda is information of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote a particular point of view. In George Orwell’s book, 1984 the government is called “Big Brother” and that name is used to control the minds of the people who live in Oceania. In Orwell’s book, there is a sign saying “Big Brother is watching you”, and it is put up everywhere throughout the city. The sign is a use of propaganda because it is promoting Big Brother, and making people think that the He is actually watching and knows everyones thoughts and moves. By everyone thinking that He is watching, it limits people from doing things that they want to do because they feel as they will get caught and get in trouble.
The male gaze is a term that references how often women in media only have the purpose in stories in order to be objectified. Especially in the comics we read, the beautiful women are always shown more sexually than the men. In the Phantom Lady comics, her clothes constantly hug her figure, and she is occasionally shown in sexual positions. There is a scene on page 17 where she is shown changing, purely for fan service rather than being vital to the plot. Additionally, her costume serves no function for her, especially since it’s just a cape accompanied by almost a bathing suit type outfit, it is purely this way so that she is sexy looking. There are even gratuitous shots of her running just to emphasize on her figure, as on page 19, where
The express mail industry can easily be considered an inherently tough industry to operate within given the myriad of factors that come into play, such as unions, government regulations, cost of technological advancement, and international borders to name a few. Despite this, the industry could be seen as offering opportunities, which could be seized by attracting customers based on the quality of the service being offered. Consequently, this also encouraged mimicking between
