New York, NY – The University of Valley Forge Men’s Soccer team traveled to New York for a game against the Pratt Institute Cannoneers. Behind Colton Swan’s hat trick, the Patriots beat the Cannoneers by a score of 3-2. In a game that Colton Swan will never forget, the sophomore from Indian Head, PA buried 3 goals that gave him his first hat trick in his collegiate career.
UVF and Pratt battled for nearly an entire half with neither team able to find pay dirt. It wasn’t until the 44th minute when the Cannoneers broke through. Pratt’s Michael South outran the Valley Forge defense and put his shot past keeper Bryan Ardon for the Cannoneers first goal. At the end of the first half that was dominated by defense, Pratt Institute led 1-0.
As the second half began, the Patriots remained scoreless until Colton Swan took over. Samuel Jere found Swan streaking toward goal. Jere’s pass was on the money and Swan buried his first goal in the right corner of the net to tie the game at 1. 2 minutes later, Michael South struck again for his second goal to break the tie and give Pratt a 2-1 advantage. In the 74th minute, Bill Peron raced down the right side of the field. Peron put a cross into the box towards Colton Swan.…show more content… The Patriots attempted 12 shots with 8 of those shots being on goal. UVF limited the opportunities for the Cannoneers. Pratt only managed 7 shots throughout the contest. The Patriots improve their record to 2-9 on the season.
