My capstone project has been on a journey that has been moving forward, but there are many more road blocks ahead before its completion. This has been an intensive and active learning project that has consumed my thoughts daily. My concern is that I may not have thoroughly presented my thoughts on paper in an organized, concise, logical and clear matter. My problem statement, I believe is too broad and needs to be narrow down to one focus. A narrow focused problem statement should not change what I have already submitted because my project has always been on focusing on cultural diversity. I am still waiting on the return of the papers I submitted for my capstone presentation and practicum. My plan is to make my presentation this week
school, I found it hard to believe a professional school would actually have to recruit minority students to fill its quotas. Nevertheless, thinking back to Karl Krebs, a.k.a. Karl K. Krebs, M.D., Keystone, Class of 1974, I realized Freddy was probably right. Interested in the Minority Program from an educational perspective, I asked Freddy to continue.
The video was very informative in describing how CBT can be used. I have seen CBT used frequently in our programs, however the effectiveness I fear is not as good as the data would have us believe. I think CBT can be used however only with certain clients and cultures. CBT have been criticized for focusing too much on the power of positive thinking, being too techniques oriented, and working to eliminate symptoms but failing to explore the underlying causes of difficulties (Corey, 2013). I work in a community with majority of our clients are African Americans and Hispanic. Most of the clients in the communities are poverty stricken, and have difficult lives. Using CBT which only focus on the now and positive thoughts can be a difficult concept
While yes, I scored all areas 10, that is not just a quick answer. I have worked closley with all of these areas over the year and have been very pleased with how profesional and helpful each and every area has been. From Keita helping to get HIPAA training for a consoltent to Leo quickly fixing issues that have come up with my computer or the network. From Mark and Paul working closley with me to create scripts that save time with interanl audits and networking issues with other agencies to Tim quickly helping with a DHHS leagle question. From working with Bill on the “Bringing Something to the Table” article to Janice helping me with a state car. From Julia helping me find people who are in meetings that end up in different places then where
I know my family has had an effect on who I am as being individual and who I will become a counselor. One reason I feel confident about working in the forensics is that I have thick skin and it is not a lot that I cannot handle. I have learned one’s family can have an effect on them and I am empathic to those who have family struggles whether big or small because it makes a difference. Also, I am aware of how hard it is to break the family cycle and deviate from the negative family traits.
Even though from personal experience I had some knowledge that I was inclined to the CBT theory, the study of the major theories in counseling confirmed this. I had some struggles to understand the deterministic and humanistic approaches. The existentialist approached caught my attention; but CBT was what spoke to me. Focusing on gender equality, behavior or reality can all be integrated within the scope of this theory if the interventions are tweaked and the approach is the same. In my opinion, in order for me to continue learning about this fascinating theory I need to observe someone practice this approach within different settings (in the classroom and in the office office), with different groups (gender, age, race, heritage variance)
Throughout my entire University of Minnesota Rochester career, I knew the time would come for me to prepare my capstone and deliver it to a room full of people. It only began to set in when we I was sitting in my section of capstone proposal writing class last spring that this was actually happening. Now that I am sitting here writing the essay to my final report, I am overwhelmed that I am just days and weeks away from graduating. This is a bittersweet end to such an incredible time throughout my experience here and specifically during the preparation of my capstone. Through these experiences, I have learned to traverse the uncomfortable and come out the other side a better student and a more prepared applicant for the future of forensics
In terms of sales and marketing, we adapted our strategy based on how the products played in each segment. Our strategy was to spend efficiently in marketing & sales to keep the customer awareness and accessibility high for the premium products, while maintaining a decent level of awareness and accessibility in other segments.
This capstone course has helped me to tie together all the classes I have taken thus far in the program as well as helped me to identify what skills and knowledge I need to continue working on. The capstone presentation, as well as class, helped me to practice strength-based language and be conscious of how I describe my client’s when presenting. It can be a habit to use negative language to describe a problem-saturated story and unintentionally describe a patient’s story in a way that comes off as stigmatizing. This class helped me become conscious and tactful of how I word sensitive circumstances. It was a great experience to present my patient’s case to the class and practice being thoughtful on how I portrayed my patient’s presenting
My main takeaway from the capstone experience is to have compassion for the disfranchised population rather it is the single mothers or the homeless population etc. Additionally, it is important to behave ethically, practice inclusiveness and with integrity. The clients need to be able to trust that you are genuine in your intention to help them and they must feel understood. What I found difficult with the capstone was searching for resources that were valid. Some of the resources had phone numbers that were no longer in service and/or the link to the website no longer existed. This process was frustrating and time-consuming as every resource had to be verified. However, once the resource guide was completed, it turned out to be the most rewarding
Thank you for the information that you have provided. It is important for the counselor and client to build a positive and collaborative relationship for the CBT process to work. Since the mother was already at this session it would be important to work with the mother as well as the student. If this was at a school the mother would most likely not be at the school unless she was coming in for a meeting. In talking with the parent and child about the ABC’s, the counselor would explain how when a situation happens and we respond to it, that is the “what happened” or the A (Henderson & Thompson, 2011). Next, the counselor would describe how people have their own beliefs or how they see things and that this can make us think a
Because I am a freshman, my experience with TAMID is limited to only one semester. However, I have already learned a lot through guest speakers and group work. I am unafraid to take on a leadership role in whatever I do, and I love having responsibility and facing challenges. At Brandeis, I serve as a senator in the Student Union, and spend a minimum of eight hours every week working in committees, planning events, chartering clubs, and making sure the needs of my constituents in my quad are met. In high school, I served as a Texas state officer in the Technology Student Association, editor-in-chief of my high school newspaper (The Long-View), president of the student council, and more. I love to try different activities and meet new people,
Transitioning from a setting of required learning to one of voluntary participation enabled me to grow in directions as a student that I would not have deemed possible before I had enrolled in English 101. I have developed completely contrasting perspectives in regards to writing than I held at the beginning of the semester, the most notable one being; instead of striving to be the most knowledgeable writer in the classroom, I now wish to be the most persuasive. Through surpassing personal endeavors as a writer, I have developed the understanding that this was due to my will to understand the art of rhetor, establishing my argument through supporting facts, and appealing to the ethos, pathos, and logos of my audience. I grew as a student
I agree with you; this course helps us to reflect and recollect everything we have learned to put it into application. I wish the capstone class was once we completed Data Acquisition and Analysis, Managerial Finance, and Marketing and Brand Management. These courses would have been helpful for those who chose option 2 (business plan).
My personal experience with the Capstone course taught me a lot of different subjects and how to use different tools from the computer. I didn't knew a “capstone class” actually existed and to know what one had to do seemed scary at first since my work experience was not that advanced. It was because of Research Techniques and the teachers help on teaching me how to make the capstone paper and capstone presentation. Because of my late transition from Puerto Rico after hurricane Maria to Hartford Connecticut, US I don't pass through 3rd grade and internship. With the little time I had before transitioning to the Capstone, I had to finish the Methods of Teaching assignments and there had different topics about
Capstone class is the final process for graduation. The workload was intense, but it was a learning experience. Working under a short time frame was rewarding, challenging, and manageable. This has shown me that I can complete an assignment under pressure and in a short time frame. The topic that my group presented on was informative where knowledge can be used for future references. The first and second week everyone on the team was participating and helping each other out. However, that started to change in week three.
