The career I want to pursue in life is to be a cardiothoracic surgeon. I want to be a cardiothoracic surgeon because I find it interesting when doctors on TV shows and internet videos perform surgeries to help save someone's life. I know cardiothoracic surgeons have to spend years practicing for surgery, many years in school, have skill and precision, and have to be in a great medical school. I assume to get into a great medical school you have to be in a college that have either the classes or requirements to get into the medical school that set you on your path to the career you want to pursue. I imagine twenty years from now I’ll be doing what I always wanted to do in life. The skills that are required for this job are the ability to stay calm and …show more content…
This career lets me balance work and life. The core purpose of me wanting to become a cardiothoracic is to help save people. The stress level of becoming a cardiothoracic surgeon is something you must be great at keeping under control. Having a family is something that isn’t a problem if you have everything in control and it could make you better at your job. The required wage for me to attain my desired standard of living is $360,872 per year. My wish for my financial compensation is to make the median of what a cardiothoracic surgeon makes. In ten years I would want to make the most a cardiothoracic surgeon can make. The typical income for a cardiothoracic surgeon have overtime, bonuses, and commission. This job field compared to other jobs are time consuming and takes a lot of practice. I found my information on the internet. Now I know more about the career I want. “What do you want to be when you grow up?” As a child, we have all been asked this question; and as unrealistic children, we all had dreams of being a superhero, princess, cowboy, or astronaut. Later on in life, as time went by, and as we became more knowledgeable, our answers became more serious. Some of us wanted to be teachers, business owners, or a veterinarian. However, I have always wanted to be a doctor, but not just any doctor. For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be a pediatrician. Now, half way through my junior year in high school, I have started to question the details of this career, and all the hard work it takes to become a part of the medical field.
This paper will aim to apply my insights on motivational theory of individuals and teams by developing two initiatives to be put into action at the New Mexico Veteran Administration Medical Center (VA). It will discuss how I will implement these initiatives and what changes in an employee mindset may be required to overcome any resistance. It will discuss the positive outcomes I expect, and how I can avoid or minimize negative factors which may cause stress.

Another career that I have interest in is being a surgeon. To become a surgeon an individual must complete four years of medical school, two years of internship, and two years of residency (The College Board). This is a huge disadvantage to this career. An advantage that this career has to offer is that being a surgeon you are able to manage a team of
of clinical rotations will help me set a definite goal for my future. I know that I generally want to be in the surgery room, but I'm not entirely set on one career. At this point in my life, I would like to become an anesthesiologist because I like to concentrate on one thing and I would like to be in the surgery room, but my hands are too shaky to be a surgeon. I would like to attend Texas A&M University and major in biochemistry and minor in pre med, so that I could get into a medical school.
I’m able to organize and memorize things in an order that I can quickly and swiftly reach the tools and instruments as the surgeon asks for one during the operation. I will have to be focused and diligent during the operations in my ability to listen and follow directions. In this career, my compassion and good people skills will come in handy in helping others around me whether they are the patients, relatives of the patient, or my coworkers. Advantages to this career would be helping ill people get another chance at a longer life, working with some of the best surgeons in the state, getting to participate in procedures, and learning to better my career. Disadvantages include getting too emotionally attached to patients and their families, having to break bad news to patients and loved ones of the patient, and not being able to save every person on the operating table. The average annual salary of a surgical technologist in May 2016 was $46,160. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $31,720 and the highest 10 percent earned more than $64,800. This field of work is
Health care professionals specializing in the cardiovascular system diagnose and treat patients experiencing difficulty with the heart and lungs. My selected career would be an OB/GYN or something in the medical field. I am very interested in that career because it's inspiring how someone can have such a huge impact on people's lives. I became interested in being in the medical field at a very young age, and it is a huge goal of mine to stay true to my dream. From being at doctors offices and hospitals monthly and sometimes weekly when I was in elementary school, I am very used to being around doctors and medicine.
My career goal is to become an Occupational Therapist and specialize in pediatrics. I want to specialize in pediatrics because I have always loved to be around children and be able to help them in whatever they need. Also, pediatrics is important to me because kids are our future and if I can help kids for their future I will be glad to do so. Helping kids become more independent on their activities of daily living makes me happy because I am helping them to become more independent and make them feel like they can accomplish anything. In order to be able to do this I have to get a Master Degree and I plan on getting this degree from Loma Linda University. In five years I see myself working in the Occupational Therapy setting and working with kids. I see myself, making others
Since early childhood, I always believed I would choose a career in the medical field. When I was five years old, I was asked: “What do you want to be when you grow up”? I always responded by saying: “I want to become a dentist”. I began to pursue my lifelong goal of becoming a dentist or doctor after enrolling at the University of Georgia majoring in biology. I interviewed and shadowed many doctors, all of whom specialized in different areas. I learned about the education process of becoming a doctor, daily tasks, their lifestyle, and the hours they worked. However, the more time I spent shadowing and working with people in those fields; the less I believed that a career as a
I hope to possibly work for a sports team and or be employed at Kaiser as a sports or shoulder and ankle specialist. I have seen so many sports specialist, but every time I pay a visit I am fascinated with all the certain types of specialty doctors have. I want to be different from some doctors though. Instead of calling me Dr. Thai I would want people to address me as just Jason, for the reason I believe that titles create barriers. Ultimately, my biggest goal would to one day travel the world to third world countries to provide help to those in need. With the knowledge obtained from college, I could work with others to make the lives of other abroad a life worth living. I am not pursuing this career for the money, but for the reason that I may help those who may not even be able to afford doctors. My aspirations now were shaped by my favorite aunt. My aunt was a dentist who sacrificed time with her family to take care of mine. She would give everything to see my family happy. I remember she sang the song "My Heart Will Go On" as I played the song on my trumpet. She passed away a couple years ago, and I was unable to thank her for all she has done. When it is finally my turn to join her, I can finally tell her thank you. Her heart truly did go on, and I am ready to work hard to achieve my goals. For now I make progress day by
Biomedical engineering is a field where you will be finding solutions for the problems inside your body using engineering principles. Then, once you pursue a degree in biomedical engineering then you can specialize in various interesting subfields; to name a few, bio-engineering, tissue engineering and cellular engineering where an individual who has successfully acquired sufficient knowledge in the field would deal with both human body and medical devices that ranges from clinical equipment to micro implant. I believe this field is one that would both accommodate the interests of an engineering student, as well as a medical student. Finally, my intention in choosing this field goes beyond my salary package. I would strive to contribute with improved advanced medical technology that would help work out solutions for the problems encountered by people, that in turn will eradicate the ailments of the millions of people suffering out there, together with the fact that bio engineeing is an ongoing one where every moment new advancements are taking
On many occasions my personal goals have come before my professional aspirations. A career in the medical field has always been something I have looked forward to. As a child I wanted and dreamed of being a doctor, however due to the choices I made in life and the priorities that I had not thought of, I have come to realize that my childhood dream may not come true. Yet, I was able to compromise and make short and long term goals that will lead me into a career in the medical field. My long term goal is to enter the medical field world and be a respected contributor to it. I want to be able to help others in the time of need. In
My sights have changed as I have gotten older. I no longer want to become a medical doctor. I may in the far future decide to become a doctor but I would rather be a registered nurse because they deal with the patients more. I also prefer working with pediatric or gereatric patients. Whatever way that I decide to go I will always be helping someone, somewhere.
Many people are already thinking about what they want their life to be like in the future. My future begins in college. I’ve been waiting to go to college since middle school. I’m interested in taking anything in the medical field such as nursing, pharmacist, medical technician, etc. I believe this will benefit me, my family, and other people because I want to take care of my family, other patients, and also myself by learning more about health science. To me, successful is happiness, and happiness is not necessarily being wealthy. My happiness is having to help people and also having a family who cares and supports me.
