After having been in my first college year for a couple of months, I still had no idea what I was leaning towards for a major. As a student of psychology, my career assessments test showed me many options for my career goal path. For starters, my career interest profile results are broken into six main categories which are: social, artistic, investigative, enterprising, realistic, and conventional. According to my results, my career matches are as followed: preschool, primary, secondary, and special education teacher. I am 28% social, 22% artistic, 17% investigative, 11% enterprising, 10% realistic, and 9% realistic. According to my Phoenix results, the salary ranges in this area between $18,140 - $57,530. I generally believed that I have a more noteworthy degree as a social person which ended up being substantial. Individuals who are social likes to help individuals in instructing, giving a restorative guide, giving data for the most part, avoids utilizing machines, devices, and animals to accomplish an objective. Moreover, people who are social is awesome at teaching, exhorting, nursing, or giving information; values people and dealing with social issues; and sees self as to be helpful, welcoming, and dependable. My profession normally includes working with, speaking with, instructing individuals, and causing or giving administration to others. However, my results also showed me other community and social service specialist that also may be in my interest such as health educator, youth counselor, and mental health / behavioral counselor.

My career choice is a Forensic Psychologist. Since I first figured what I wanted to be when I grew up, it either involved science, medicine, and law. I went from Surgeon to Scientist then to Lawyer. It always somehow involved the criminal field. So, I did more research on what I could assemble and I came to the conclusion that being a Forensic Psychologist was the best route for me to take. In my paper, I will be telling you more in depth information about my career choice, how my thoughts of my career choice relate to the information of my career, my plan to get to this career, and furthermore my future.

I was indecisive of my future career path. My mom would tell me the classic “You should be a lawyer” or “You should be a doctor.” I would go along with her idea for a couple weeks until I jumped off the bandwagon. I wasn’t passionate about either of those fields; I was interested in both math and science and as a young girl. As I got older, I became invested in technology due to my love of gaming, but I didn’t know that people devote their lives to technology until I interned.

It wasn’t until my senior year in high school when I realized that I needed to decide what to choose as a career field in which I actually had an interest in pursuing. My aunt handed me a bunch of pamphlets that dealt with a variety of different career types: business, criminal justice, education, etc. That was when I came across the healthcare field. I have always loved being able to help others as much as I am able to. There were plenty of field’s that sounded interesting but that’s when I came across the one that I was eager to begin my college career on.

Ever since my later adolescence years, I have always been intrigued by the diverse complexity of the human brain. Numerous days I have sat down obtrusively observing my surroundings just to satisfy my curiosity on how individuals think, reason and problem solve everyday life happenings. As such, when it was time to attend university, I decided to study psychology as a means of gaining knowledge and understanding about individuals’ cognitive processes and their behavior. During my undergraduate studies, for a particular reason, I was struck by Abnormal Psychology and spent hours thinking about the various disorders captured by the then Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM IV). I spent an awful lot of time trying to understand the differing disorders and how their impact on the behavior and thinking processes of individuals that are diagnosed with them.

In these four years of attending UWSP, I plan on majoring in Wildlife ecology and management. I was always a crazy animal lover when I was little, because I grew up on a farm. But when I went to my cabin or uncles land with my parents we always saw bears, porcupines, snakes, raccoons etc. I got to see these animals in their different habitats, which was awesome. I thought for a bit that what would be more awesome than just seeing these wildlife animals, would be to work hands on with them and their environment they live in. With this major I hope I am able to get into either a wildlife biology research facility or even an animal rehabilitation facility.

My whole life I have always wanted to do something where people will remember me. I went threw millions of career choices before I came to the conclusion of a nurse. It’s not something that will get me into History books, but its something where all the people I help will remember what I did to care for them or their loved ones. My mom went to school to become and RN, but dropped out when she became pregnant with me. After that story was told to me, I didn’t want to be anything related to nursing. It wasn’t until my step mom went to school to be LPN that I realized it would be possible for me to do. I saw how much happiness it gave her, and I want the same thing. She loved helping the patients by treating them, and helping their families

For the longest time I could not decide on a major and a career to study throughout college. When I came to Georgia Southern University I discovered that they had a major that was very interesting to me. Sport Management id the ideal major for my interest and me. Since I love sports I figured that this would be the career for me. A degree in Sport Management helps to prepare for success in sport related occupations.

Choosing a right career path can be tough. Especially, when the parents are involved. Parents want their children to have a better life in the future so they want their children to be educated. When they are successfully graduate from the college they can get a high paying job and earn much more than their parents. Finding a specific career path can not only be difficult, but it can also induce bouts of anxiety, anger, and sadness over a crucial part of an individual’s life. Settling on a career can be unnerving when thinking about the fact that this is the career that you spend thousands of dollars on in college, that this is the career you will work in until you retire. With this course, I’ve found that it has been easier to narrow down a goal towards finding a career. Through career assessments, different assignments and discussions, I have realized what my barriers and strengths are. Overcoming these and improving these skills or applying them to an actual career assisted me in narrowing my goal as well. I am now able to clearly see the advantages and disadvantages of my career goal and to think clearer about the next steps that I will take after this course.

I have chosen a career as a paralegal. This is a field that I expect will be both challenging as well as professionally rewarding. As a paralegal, I will assist attorneys in the delivery of legal services (National Association of Legal Assistants, 2008).
