An attitude refers to a set of emotions, beliefs, and behaviors that is toward a person, thing, or life event. Therefore, attitudes can have an influence on the way a person behaves. As a result, to any type of traumatic life event; it can be devastating. In which it can cause that person to become stressed and lead them to have some type of stress disorder like depression. Traumatic events can cause a behavior to drastically change in a person. Which may lead to some psychological or physical problems that may need to be addressed. Looking deeper into James's personality my assumption would be that he is extroversion and Freud's theory of superego. Han Eysenck's view of personality traits is that they are inherited. He believes that there are two types of people we encounter extroversion and introversion. In reviewing Eysenck's information, there is two second-order factors extroversion and neuroticism. An extroversion viewed in terms of activity, sociability, risk-taking, impulsiveness, expressiveness, reflectiveness and
One area in her life, Jan values and has also received personal growth is communication. The face to face connection is important to her as well as the words we use. During our interview, she shared a quote from F. S. Gerald. “The Slightest touch can wither or heal”. “Control of the tongue involves an intentional awareness and governance of words as well as tone of voice in all communication” (Calhoun. pp. 208). Jan is aware of the areas in her life that she continues to seek
What is Fluency? Fluency is the ability to read smoothly and automatically, with expression and attention to punctuation. Correspondingly, reading with sufficient accuracy and fluency supports overall reading comprehension.
It has been proven that there are many other ways to help and even cure patients other than medicine. Ingestive Medicine can have some of the worst side effects on a persons body. Many natural remedies and just being able to talk to someone can tremendously help a mood or even help a mental illness as serious as Depression. “Therapists who are warmly accepting of their clients without conditions have a better outcome”(Goldstein1). I feel as if I am accepting of everyone I meet and help them no matter how helpless they feel. That is why I would like to become a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist. Specializing in the cognitive area gives me the advantage to mentally and emotionally help my patients. No medication required. Using natural remedies
Communication is vital in life, whether it be from simply having a conversation with someone or trying to understand what they are saying and if a person has a speech disorder, that can make life very complicated. Children with speech disorders may have trouble producing sounds to use spoken language to communicate with people and may have trouble understanding what people are trying to say. Children with speech disorders may have problems with vocal quality, articulation, fluency, hearing, and intellectual abilities. Those difficulties that children may face due to speech disorders can potentially cause setbacks in their everyday life which is why Midlands Therapy Services tries to help children reach their full potential. The words “career counseling” and “substance abuse treatment” on the surface appear as two completely isolated areas, with little interconnection. Personally, as an individual in recovery from addiction, as well as professionally, working as a drug and alcohol case manager, experience has shown me that vocation is very relevant to this population. It is one of the primary goal areas in which I work with my clients on a daily basis. Many of these individuals have completed treatment and are looking for new ways to enter the workforce and provide for themselves and their families, while also battling past career mistakes and missteps. Furthermore, education levels have
The family checked-in as being “okay” and week was “good.” The family presented in a euthymic mood and it was congruent with affect. During this session, the therapist and family focused on treatment goals accomplished and completion of the therapeutic process. The youth’s mother was asked to identify what was the most difficult challenge she experienced during the therapeutic process. The mother reported it was difficult to handle a teenager with anger management problems while leaning how to adjust to an alternative way of disciplining. She indicated Denae’s attitude is not perfect, but she and her husband has learned how to punish without having to use physical force. The youth reported her greatest challenge was controlling her behavior and anger.
A rehabilitation Counselor is focused with people who have disabilities that will want to achieve their personal, career, and independent living natural goals through a counselor.
James suffers from constant vomiting, and endless stares from the other people at the facility. He does not have anyone to talk to while there, which is one of the many purposes for the journal. He can write down all of his feelings without anybody knowing how he feels. It is a release of information that could have been weighing him down. It is hard for James to talk to someone when he does not have a friend that will listen. Everyone in the rehab facility has their own problems to deal with, and they don’t have the
One interesting career is a mental health counselor which allows for numerous roles within the criminal justice system. This position is an excellent opportunity since I am reaching toward a Bachelor of Science under Psychology. An example is a venture to work in the rehabilitation of offenders to become prepared for their release such as deterrence of recidivism. It happens to provide a good median salary of $40,850; however, the single analysis is research of nearly 20,000 job postings based on identification software three years ago. Ultimately, this field trip’s data opens on 10 prospective jobs available to criminal justice degree holders such as the case of counselor working in correctional
Inherently good I see violence as stemming from a desire to get something accomplished and that perpetrators do not inflict violence in order to purposely hurt someone but to get something themselves. It is a rare person who purposely inflicts harm on others, relishing in the resulting pain. From the brief description of James’ situation, I do not think he is motivated by suffering but rather that he insists on respect and clings to power. Based on this basic assumption, I think I would be able to work with James as I see him as a person with good in him, but doing some bad behaviours.
Between 2008 and 2009, not even a year apart, I lost my husband and my job. My emotions were all over the place, but I needed to keep it together for the sake of my children. At times, I felt that my family was insensitive because all I would hear is “you will be alright” or “you are strong” but I was not feeling strong at that moment. My family was use to me being the bread winner and being there for everyone. Who was going to be there for me? I lost a lot of support from family and friends since I was unable to provide for them any longer. No one asked me if I needed anything, such as are bills paid, did I need anything or just how was I dealing with all this trauma in my life. I still needed to survive for my children and the few people that remained in my corner kept me encouraged; it did not include my family but my church family.
James is strict but still enjoys a back and forth conversation. He has a sarcastic edge and is funny. An example of this would be when Jemima arrived late for breakfast and he said, “How long have you lived in this house?” and later went on to say “And have you noticed, over those sixteen years, that breakfast in this house has always been at eight.” Even though he is funny, he is still
