Career Plan: Procurement and Supply Chain management
My major in the course is chain supply management. I plan to use the education gained in supply chain management to build my career in procurement to develop my skills and improve the procurement process. In my post bachelorette degree, I intend to take professional trainings in procurement, gain more experience and build more expertise in procurement. This is aimed at helping organizations simplify the procurement function and make it effective and efficient. This is because I understand that the supply chain management is one of the most centralized and pivotal process. Therefore, I plan to learn more about supply chain management, the building of procurement relationships with third parties, try to think about how to improve the procurement quality, and building competitive procurement processes.

Effective communication skills are crucial to my success in both my personal and professional life and this course has helped me tremendously of becoming a more confident speaker. I’ve learned various communication techniques such as listening, active listening, verbal and nonverbal skills to connect with audiences once I speak in front of a large group of people.
With everything that we have studied during this class, I found that keeping an open mind and thinking outside the box is the easiest way to approach certain situations that require a special need for communication skills. "Although, our communication skills will always change throughout our lives because of our constantly changing self-concept and perceptions. I have been using strategies like actively listening and proper assessments, as a way to achieve a flexible style effectively communicating. To me, good communication skills with a positive attitude open the doors to a successful career that is beneficial to any organization, but more importantly a way of knowing and understanding those around you.
Communication is the ability to talk to another person, and exchange information with one another. Communication is probably the most important skill needed in a job. If you can’t communicate with a person, work will be much harder. You can’t just apply for a job and get accepted. You have to communicate with your boss, and he has to talk to you about the requirements for your job, etc. Having a good communication skill will allow for the company you’re working for to work efficiently and be very productive.

It is quite challenging to discuss about procurement management without stating the importance of its strategies. There are four main basic procurement strategies that serve different functions within a procurement management. To begin with, a “Partnership” strategy focuses mainly on constructing mutual commitment in long term relationship with suppliers. While a “Secure Supply” strategy aims to secure short and long term supply while reducing risk from suppliers. In addition, a “Category Management and E-Procurement solutions” serves as a tool to reduce logistic complexity, improve operational efficiency, and attempts to reduce the number of suppliers. Lastly, a “Competive Bidding” strategy emphasizes on obtaining the “Best Deal” for short term transactions with suppliers.(van weele) Each of these four strategies involves a unique purchasing methodology, which implies that the complexity is embedded in an individual strategic implication. Therefore, it requires different tools to accomplish the specific strategical characteristics.
