After I graduated from high school, I still didn’t know where and what I wanted to do, but I always knew that I wanted to be in the fashion industry. My sister, who is graduated from The New School Parsons with a degree of fashion design, helped to lead me and trace a path for me. That’s how I decided to come to New York and started my adventure. The first year I had a foreign language study as known as American Language Program at Columbia University. After I completed my studies for a year, I applied to Berkeley college for the fashion merchandising and management major, after I got accepted, I started my studies in 2012 and continue my education in Berkeley College currently.

As a student of psychology, my career assessments test showed me many options for my career goal path. For starters, my career interest profile results are broken into six main categories which are: social, artistic, investigative, enterprising, realistic, and conventional. According to my results, my career matches are as followed: preschool, primary, secondary, and special education teacher. I am 28% social, 22% artistic, 17% investigative, 11% enterprising, 10% realistic, and 9% realistic. According to my Phoenix results, the salary ranges in this area between $18,140 - $57,530. I generally believed that I have a more noteworthy degree as a social person which ended up being substantial. Individuals who are social likes to help individuals in instructing, giving a restorative guide, giving data for the most part, avoids utilizing machines, devices, and animals to accomplish an objective. Moreover, people who are social is awesome at teaching, exhorting, nursing, or giving information; values people and dealing with social issues; and sees self as to be helpful, welcoming, and dependable. My profession normally includes working with, speaking with, instructing individuals, and causing or giving administration to others. However, my results also showed me other community and social service specialist that also may be in my interest such as health educator, youth counselor, and mental health / behavioral counselor.

The topic that I chose in visual arts is fashion. I have researched the impact of society on fashion. Through this subject I will discuss how the society as a whole contributes to what types of pieces are created and designed. Fashion is something that is literally used in everyone’s day to day lives regardless of cultures and beliefs. It is all around us, therefore it influences people everyday, sometimes in ways unknown. My life has been an ongoing stuggle, but my hard work, determination, and enthusiasm for my education have enabled me to pursure my dreams. My academic plans are to major in pre-occupational therapy. After graduating and completing the prerequisite, I plan to obtain a license in Occupational Therapy by attending OT School. Success does not come from a pay check. My love affair with fashion started years ago, but over these past 2 years it has grown into something so beautiful. Fashion made it’s grand entrance in my life when I was looking over a Chanel catalog along with a few other designers. For example; Vera Wang, Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Marc Jacobs, Phoebe Philo, and many more. The designs caught my eye and I was just mesmerized by it all. It literally took my breath away! I always told myself and my family that I will grow to be an amazing fashion designer and sell beautiful, elegant clothing known to man. A worldwide known designer.

When I think of my career goals, I ask myself what I want to accomplish in life. I know that I love helping patients and families, and I want to continue to do that. I always am changing my mind on what I want to do after my BSN. I don’t know when or if I will get my masters or continue to work at the bedside for a while. I love what I do and what I do for other people and families. Working in the critical care unit feels like home. I get to do what I love.

Even though I am not in New York at the moment, it is through social media apps and websites like Instagram and Pinterest, where I am inspired by the posted pictures of fashion-animated streets, snippets and clips of fashion shows around the world, and stylist-picked outfits. This technology makes it possible to be immersed in the community where your interests lie, no matter you location. Through these technologies, I become increasingly literate in fashion by seeing what’s trending at the moment and become aware of the new fashion language and terms. My friends usually tell me that I have “an eye for fashion” and frequently ask me to go shopping with them or to give them my opinion on their outfits. My store recommendations, referrals, and clothing borrowing are all occurrences that often happen when my friends, family and I communicate about fashion.

Life is a continual learning process, which requires a strong method to develop better ways of apprenticeship. Personally, being able to obtain a higher education gives me an opportunity to be better in many ways. Everyone should have any personal goals in life in order to survive, prosper and succeed in every journey that life gives. As for me, being a University of Phoenix student, I hope to achieve all of my goals on which I have been trying to pursue and obtain through the years. They are goals that I believe I need to have to be a successful member of the society, and through attending the university I also hope to gain a more positive image of myself, build my personal growth, along with achieving

I was raised in a military household; both of my parents were in the U.S. Navy. Growing up I was taught proper discipline, a sense of order, and a firm belief in right and wrong. These skills allowed me to be able to conduct my life with a sense of purpose and gave me the confidence to accomplish anything I set my mind to. Generally, as children grow older, they tend to imagine which career path they will follow as adults.  However, what much of today's youth fails to grasp is the importance of overcoming all seemingly unsurmountable obstacles in their education in order to reach their career aspirations.  Overall, my high school career consisted of spending countless nights and endless hours working diligently toward success in highly advanced classes in which I could have never imagined myself excelling.  Following many years considering which path I would take next in my education, my decision to become a diagnostic medical sonographer seemed effortless and suiting for my personality.  In retrospect, I now realize that, if it hadn't been for the guidance of many wonderful, influential people I have known and prospered from as a result, I would not be the driven, analytic person I am today.  All in all, I have come to realize the most influential factor in my decision to become a sonographer, as well as in my strive toward personal success, can only be owed to none other than the guidance of my wise mother.
