That’s right folks, you read the headline right! Lately in Reardan High School, the new student named Junior is the talk of the school. His real name is Arnold and he is a Indian who came from the Spokane Indian Reservation. We have asked his classmates about what are their opinions and thoughts about him. Most of them have said, their first impression of Junior was interesting, considering he was one of the first Indians willing to go to a school like Reardan. According to a classmate, Junior was in a fight where he punched a guy’s face. And ended up winning people’s respect, especially the guy he fought with. The strangest time I ever came up on was my 6th grade year. I knew it would have been challenging because i just got out of elementary and moved to a bigger school with kids that’s older than me. As we pulled up to Carencro Middle I was saying to myself “man this is crazy i’m in middle school now”. When i stepped off the bus they told us to go in the gym and when i approach the gym door i felt nervous because they had 7th and 8th graders already in the gym, soon as i walked in the gym the first thing i heard was “ fresh-meat” my whole body just sunk in.

I then found out that I lived in district to attend McEachern HS at this point I felt excited because I had heard that this school was fun and big. I did know some people that attended this school, so I thought that coming here wasn’t that bad. When I came to register my first impression was “oh no this school is too big, I’m going to end up getting lost my first day here.” My first day of school here was really nerve racking, I was so scared and I felt so lonely. I was like the stranger in the village, I felt as if people looked at me weird and I just felt like I didn’t fit in. Having to walk from one building to another was a struggle for me because I wasn’t used to it. One of the first people I met here was my friend Monica who was a grade older than me and I had a class with her. One day in class she came to me and said “hey I’m Monica, are you new here?” I responded back to her and I said to her “yes I am, I came from South Cobb.” After this day we became really good friends. Once I started meeting other people at MHS wasn’t as bad but I still missed my

As Angelica confidently strolled into Rosario High, Eliza and Peggy, her sisters followed close behind. Angelica had been at the school before, because she'd been taking a bus over to the high school for her advanced math class all throughout eighth grade. Eliza, however, had never been inside the building before and felt incredibly small walking in. Peggy wasn't even supposed to be there. She should've been in eighth grade, but she skipped it and went straight to high school. She was very smart, but no one ever noticed. She was always just Angelica and Eliza's sister. They made their way down wing 1B in search of their lockers. Peggy stopped at her locker, number ninety six, while Angelica and Eliza looked for their own. Angelica finished her search at locker number seventy stuff. Eliza found hers a bit farther down, locker 46. While she began to unpack her books, she saw four boys making their way down the hallway. One was the famous jock, Lafayette. No one knew his real name except teachers, because he insisted that it was to long to use. His friend, another jock who was very smart, however, Hercules Mulligan followed him down the hall. John Laurens, who was decent at sports, but more of a science guy was with them, too. Following them was the mystery man, Alexander Hamilton. He was in their grade, but barely anyone knew anything about him. Eliza figured he was just another jock.

I was going to Brentwood Middle School when I got the news. I was just starting to find my friend group. Then I was told I would be transferring to a new group of schools. I would be moving 20 minutes down the road into a little town called Nolensville. When I thought it couldn’t get any worse, I would have to transfer schools again after I finished my freshman year. During my sophomore year of high school, I began at Nolensville. This school and town have changed me in ways I never thought it would.

Young, but driven, Jorge began dancing in the spring of his senior year at Sharyland High School. He was welcomed into Melba's School of Dance's family where he was introduced to ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and folklorico.

Coming from a fine arts High School and transferring to a sports driven High school was very hard. Thier different ways of doing things was like a slap in the face. I had culture shock. Coming from such a diverse community to being the minority in almost all the classrooms, it was really nerve racking. Not to mention all the inappropriate questions I was getting about black culture from students. But I knew it was all worth it because

School has always been an important part of my family's life. My parents worked several jobs to make sure my three siblings and I had what we needed for school. My grandmother always lectured us about doing well so we could get into a nice college - an opportunity she never had. I remember watching my older brother go off to kindergarten and throwing tantrums because I wanted to go too. My mother made sure we all knew our alphabet and nursery rhymes before we even got into school. We grew up with some disadvantages, but my family did what they could so that we were on the same playing field as all the other kids.

On one faithful day I started my car and was about to leave Croatan High school. It was a cold January day it wasn’t sunny I wore a black shirt and grey shorts. As I start to pull out my spot into the straight way to get on cougar lane someone stops me. The person that stopped me was my buddy Jacob he made the jester for me roll down my window and so I did and he said. “Hey man do you know when the next test is in Mr. Slater’s class,” to which I reply. “No let me know if you hear otherwise,” and he walked away. I roll the other window down as Stair Way to Heaven comes on and turn up the music. I pull into the straight lane behind three cars and wait for someone to let one person in so the line will die down.
