Discharged from the hospital, on our baby boy fist appointment at the health department the treatment team congratulated us with big cheer and joy. Employees from all units come see my wife and the new baby. After 18 months January 3rd 2012 we have our second child in a different county and different hospital and the third baby after another 18 months July 24th 2013. The level of care and treatment we received did not change; the only thing changed is places and faces of providers. On our three pregnancies, our experience was deeply touching and great blessing. From the first nurse who does my wife’s pregnancy test to the surgical physicians delivers our babies, our experience was heart-felt. The caring and loving services we received …show more content…
Primarily, I have to find a new job with an opportunity that allows me to get a closer understanding of the healthcare profession. Immediately started searching for hiring health care companies for job opportunity and applied. My principle was, regardless the job position I will take it, for this is a door to my future career. Still remember the day vividly how excited I was when I get a call for an interview for a Laundry Technician opening in a hospital. Everything went well and on June 2010 was hired. The payment was much better than what anticipated. This gave me the opportunity and time to start school. Most of all was happy to step my foot in a hospital. As a laundry technician, my job deals with soiled linen with blood and other body discharges. However, was very happy in my job and not even for a minute complained. I have seen how caring everybody works to clean and treated my wife and babies. Now my feeling is this is my part to support the health care system for somebody 's remarkable experience. My great vision is to be part of this team, which provides an amazing care with a humble spirit. This is excellent choice to further my education and future career. Months later, applied for an internal opening and hired as a Safely Attendant for physically and mentally unstable patients. My new job gave me a better opportunity to learn about patient care profession. Now I deal directly with patients, and meet
Hospital volunteers are crucial to the hospital environment. The hospital volunteers are people who interact with the patient if the parent can’t make it on time because of a meeting or simply are there when a kid needs help with his math homework or is bored of watching T.V.. Kids also seek out advice from different people that are not their family. A lot of the kids at the Children’s Hospital in Aurora have been there their whole life and volunteers tend to make a great connection with them after each shift. Most of the volunteers are white because of the connections their family members can make and they can get a good reference when filling out the application to become a volunteer. At the Children’s Hospital of Aurora there are not many Hispanic women volunteers that are college educated. These young women have a lot to say when it comes to volunteering at the Children’s Hospital.
This encouraged me to pursue my current job, a patient care technician in the emergency department. When I landed my job in the emergency department I was not too sure what to expect since I always worked in the field as an EMT and a firefighter. Well, turns out I loved it so much that I want to now move on to pursue a career in nursing. I did not realize the love I have for continuing my patient care which is what I like the most about working in the emergency department. Unlike when you work on an ambulance you only care for the patient for a short time and then have to leave what you had started. Working as an EMT in the hospital setting has given me the experience that I will need in order to pursue my goal now to complete nursing
From that day, I decided that I would aim to become a physician assistant and work in a hospital/clinic for low income families since I do not want others to feel like they are not given the time of the day due to their income. When I become a physician assistant, I will be dedicated to give proper treatment to my
I worked with amazing providers that taught me various aspects of care, as well as patients who allowed me to be a part of their struggles in unexpected ways. In addition, I spent time teaching in a Medical Assisting program which allowed me to share my experience with women who had many of the same struggles I had had as a young mother. Finally, I worked as a Practice Manager, where I learned the art of leadership and how compassion must be balanced with structure in order to ensure the success of a business.
After my first year at UND, I took a CNA class and became employed at a nursing home in Menahga, where I am still working. At this job I was able to experience patient care and begin to see the benefits of helping patients improve their lives. In my time after High School I have also had many other valuable experiences. I have been a Camp Counselor at two, 1 ½ week Confirmation Camps for our church. At these camps it was mine, along with other Counselor’s responsibility to teach the younger teens about how we believe as well as demonstrate how to be respectable adults. These camps allowed me to use and develop my leadership skills and also created memories that I will never forget. I have also shadowed a few different Medical Professionals, in order to better understand the world of medicine. Dr. Dan Smith is a General Surgeon who lives and practices very near to where I live. I was able to shadow Dr. Smith for many hours and built a relationship with him. He showed me some aspects of the medical field that I may not have seen elsewhere. My life has been far from typical, but I do believe that each of my experiences has made me both a better person as well as a be
While most acquaintences my age were out partying and having a ball, I was working 12am to 8am on a dementia unit at the VA Hospital, as you may know working nights can make you extremely lazy, when all you do is sleep all day, the pay was great and that also makes you not want to start school or do something with your life, but I saw the bigger picture in a career. I saw what none of my friends have seen yet, and It felt great. Anyways back to my story, I had really enjoyed the job and helping the elderly, but sadly due to a schedule conflict I had to resign to start college. As of right now I am working as a Pharmacy Tech at CVS pharmacy, its not much but its something. Something that's gonna help me in the long run when it comes to pharmacology,
I had my moment of achievement of a milestone when I received this great news I felt that all my hard work up to this point has paid off. And it is now my time to shine and over time gain respect in this placement, and become a respected medical professional in the Oakville Hospital by staff and the Oakville Community. I hope this shows my level of focus and maturity, that I have to my future career goals. Along with the ability to give back to the
Despite being so busy, the nursing style was still far more holistic than on my surgical placements and the involvement of the multi-disciplinary team was far more evident. Overall a very good experience indeed.
I can't express enough how wonderful everyone was. Michelle my nurse, of course Dr David Parks, a nurse Misty or Missy after surgery, Dr Paglia and a surgical nurse whose name I can't remember, ( please forgive me if I left anyone out) all treated me with the greatest kindness, compassion and respect.
The simulation exercise presented a complex situation when Charge Nurse Janice didn’t have enough nurses in her unit and the VP of Support Services called and her about the scheduled meeting. At the start of the shift, she responded unprofessionally to the situation by giving directions to the staff while on a personal call and reacting negatively to any patient update provided by the staff. Janice also created a bad impression to Elise, the new nurse, when she asked about her assignment. Janice addressed the patients’ names with the procedures they had. Knowing that there was a situational problem, Janice should have communicated properly and emphasized to the staff about teamwork to facilitate the workflow in the unit. Elise is new and inexperienced, but Janice could have utilized her help with basic tasks as long as she had been directed and coached properly.
What will stand out in your life and in your mind as you look back at the past 15 years of working for UNM hospital?
Through my own experience at Lutheran General Hospital as the parent of one of your patients in the PICU, I have witnessed the team work, the vigilance , and most of all the compassion among the staff. My son and my family were given such amazing care at Lutheran General. I will never forget how the nurses made my family feel as if we were their only priority. This is what inspired me to become an RN in hopes that I too can make a family feel the same way with their

The nurses on the labor and delivery unit at Providence do a phenomenal job at delivering patient-centered care. After a patient gives birth the nurses and staff do everything they can to help the new mother prepare to be discharged and take their bundle of joy home. With motherhood comes a lot of responsibility and expenses, so the nurses also provide information on outside resources for all the mothers, which I believe really makes a difference. The staff at Providence really want the best for their patients and it is seen when they deliver care to every
The couple’s first experience of having newborn babies came unexpected amidst severe warnings of a hurricane at 5:20 AM; the mother’s water had broken and the baby was being born 13 weeks early. The delivery was high risk, not only due to the premature nature of the newborns, but also because the pregnancy was multiple-birth (twins). As this is a high-stress moment for any future parent, and ones with complex situations in particular, the overall service experience should be as easy, informational, safe, and stress-free as possible.
